A man tossed his 18-month-old niece out of a moving car, then led police on a high speed chase that ended with him wrestling with officers, according to reports.
The child escaped injury during the incident involving Curtis Raymond Morris Johnson, 21, of Delray Beach.
On Friday, his left eye swollen and shut, Johnson heard Palm Beach Circuit Judge Ted S. Booras order him held in lieu of $50,000 bail on charges of child abuse, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, fleeing and traffic offenses.

you know... we need to bring back the eye for an eye kind of justice. Just sentence this punk be thrown out of a high speed moving vehicle... face first.
dumb nut.he’s lucky the child is ok
Well his picture is real purty after the cops got ahold of him for endangering the baby. Now let’s hope that he doesn’t already have children and never will.
Just leave him alone with the baby’s mother or dad for about 30 minutes. If they even have half a brain they will beat the shit out of him
Well you really should read the article. It informs the reader of the full implications of that word “then” in the part above.
1. The guy made a phone call.
2. A woman, reportedly a friend of the child’s mother, came out to where he was driving.
3. He slowed down to 10 mph.
4. He toss the kid out to the woman.
Not recommmend behavior of course, but still possibly safer than taking the child with him on a high speed flight from the police.
“Not recommmend behavior of course, but still possibly safer than taking the child with him on a high speed flight from the police.”
Only hindsight could determine that...
at any rate it is still a crime and very wrong.
Poor slob must have walked into a door jamb or something.
I’m hoping he threw himself onto a cops fist. Hope the perp didn’t injure the officer while doing that. Never lead with your face! It’s not a weapon. Well........except for Helen Thomas.
This wild animal should never see the outside of a cage.
That's OBVIOUS!!! Your eye swells up in a far different way if someone hits you. Naaaa....this one was self-inflicted.
Well Golly! That's just what it looked like to me too! :-)

Curtis Raymond Morris Johnson, 21, of Delray Beach, told officers he threw the child from the car because "I didn't want her in there." (PBSO / July 16, 2010)
I’m volunteering you & I for the jury.
Two unbiased people, is my take on this!
With the car going around 30 mph, the officers saw Johnson talking on his cellphone and pulling a child from the back seat and placing it on his lap, the officers said.
At Southwest 14th Avenue and Southwest Sixth Street, the officers said, they saw Johnson again veer into oncoming lanes and saw a woman later identified as Shalonda Watts run toward his car.
The report does not give Watts' age or address but Delray Beach police spokesman Jeffrey Messer said on Friday she is a friend of the child's mother.
With the car now slowed to about 10 mph, the officers said, Johnson threw open his driver's door, grabbed the infant by one arm, and "made a motion to throw her out of the car," Officer Henry Lugo wrote in the report.
As the woman, ran alongside the car, the officers wrote, Johnson dropped the child and the woman was able to catch her before she hit the road.
Johnson then shut his door and drove off
Actually, it seems the niece was not tossed, but it was a planned exchange between the perp and the woman who caught the child. God bless that woman!
I am VERY unbiased. And I know that you are too. That sucker, I mean that poor boy, will NEVER have children in prison. I mean we’ll, of course, listen to him closely and intently. Just before we find him guilty. Bless his heart!
Well, being the sweet thang I am....I'd have said bless his pea pickin' heart.
But that's just me.
We definately have to many skanks of both sexes in this country...Attempted murder should also be on that list...
This guy will probably sue the police for brutality and win the ghetto lottery.
*gasp* I forgot that. Poor Tennessee Ernie would be disappointed!
I am a firm believer that the penalty should always fit what the crime would have been if it were completed to the criminals original desire.
When you throw a child out of a moving vehicle the intent is to kill said child. Thus the punishment upon conviction should be the death penalty.
