U.S. Rep. Dave Camp: Americans being forced out of health plans because of ObamaCare (Deception?)

Camp: Americans being forced out of health plans because of ObamaCare
By U.S. Rep. Dave Camp
Updated: 8:41 am, Sun Jul 18, 2010

President Obama and the Democrats repeatedly told Americans that if they liked the health plan they have, they can keep it. Sounds good. Too bad it's not true.

As a result of the Democrats' health care law, residents in Virginia have already lost access to one health care plan and now many residents in Maine could lose theirs as well. If this trend continues, millions of Americans will lose their health plan -- something nonpartisan experts repeatedly warned would happen under the law and that the Obama Administration itself has since confirmed.

Regulations Threaten Coverage for Maine Residents

Maine's Superintendent of Insurance has written HHS Secretary Sebelius requesting a waiver from Medical Loss Ratio (MLR) requirements on the basis that complying with the Democrats' new health law "may disrupt our individual health insurance market."

What does "disrupt" mean? It means that one of the two private insurers in Maine's individual market, for those who do not receive health insurance from their employer, will no longer offer coverage if forced to comply with the new law. It means the new MLR requirements could eliminate the current coverage of one-third of all privately insured Maine residents who purchase health insurance on their own. For Maine residents, the fallout of the new law will leave only one private insurer and one government insurer in the individual market. So much for giving Americans more choices and power over their health care.

Obama's 'Keep Your Health Plan' Deception
Jennifer Rubin, Commentary
June 27, 2010

Over the last year or so, Obama has repeated dozens — perhaps hundreds — of times that his health-care ”reform” would allow you to keep your existing insurance plan. It’s quite apparent now that this was false. Time magazine is the latest to report:

Now that regulations about existing employer-sponsored plans have been issued, it’s becoming clear that many of the 160 million Americans with job-based coverage will not, in fact, be able to keep what they currently have.

“Big Lie,” you say, the American people have been suckers for that for three generations now. And I don’t think they are suddenly going to start learning.

Ironically, in their craftiness, the leftist Democrats may have effectively ended socialized medicine in America for many years.

Part and parcel to Obamacare was that it destroy Medicare and Medicaid, to force people in those systems into Obamacare. And it is doing so—destroying both systems.

However, though Obamacare cannot be eliminated, even if Republicans win control of both houses of congress, the Supreme Court *can* decide to throw it out. The WHOLE thing.

And that would mean NO government medicine for most people, with only the Indian Health Service and the Veterans Administration left.

For the most part, medicine in the US would be mostly privatized, except for State programs, which are mostly disasters anyway.

It is designed to destroy private health insurance and usher in single payer/socialized medicine.

The sooner the thick ones among us understand this the sooner we can get around to fighting it.

It WILL hurt your family eventually. For some it will kill you or someone/some in your family.

If you have been to the DMV then you have a basic understanding of what getting medical help is going to be like under the thumb of politicians.

I’m telling you, folks, this is going to be a total nightmare.

But the worst part won’t be the rationing and mediocre care. The worst part of this is what it will do to young people and future generations. They will grow up with the government “taking care” of their bodies. They will have no concept of real freedom—they will never know it.

This will open the door for everything the socialist/communist dreams about. The US will no longer exist as a free country—it will be lost, likely forever.

For the young and future generations a day won’t go by that they won’t have to worry about what the US government will do for them, against them, or to them.

Once this is in place, well...checkmate.

You CAN”T keep your health plan if your company decides to dump it, unless you want to go to private pay, which will cost you a FORTUNE...the health companies will not be able to offer you the type of health insurance mandated at almost any cost...therefore, you are forced into the “Public Option” (known everywhere else on the planet as socialized medicine) so you can kiss the idea of private health insurance good-bye because only the super rich will can afford it and most of them self-insure anyway.

What a scam.

Sure it can. It can be defunded with a simple house majority. It can be repealed with a simple majority in both houses. To override a veto it will be harder still - but it can be eliminated.

End of the article, outta the park home run:
So, despite the Democrats' rhetoric, the reality is:

* Even the Departments of Health and Human Services, Treasury and Labor now concede you can't keep the insurance you have and like if you receive insurance from your employer.

* You can't keep the insurance you have and like if you are a senior.

* And now we learn, you can't keep the insurance you have and like even if you purchased it on your own.

I really hope some ballsey reporter will nail nobama to the wall on this. Yeah, I know...

Like Boucheau posted above, the harm from this will hit many people or their loved ones directly. The leftist dopes in the media will not be exempt. Does their love for progressivism exceed that of their loved ones? We'll see.

Boucheau was right...this is going to cause so much unnecessary death and suffering. Personally, without getting into much detail, I see my life ending 20 years sooner under Obamacare. With all the cost/benefit stuff already appearing (BMI index), I can either put money aside for private or black market care or await the tender mercies of the HHS death panels.

If only I was an illegal alien. I'd have it made!

The fundamental flaw in Socialized Medicine in any marginally democratically ruled nation is that a simple majority vote in a legislative body is sufficient to eliminate the "medical care" option.

Folks could wake up some morning without any medical care even available ~ just like it'd never existed.

By keeping medical care predominantly private, the risk of a single vote wiping it out is dramatically reduced.

It isn’t just the veto threat, which Obama would certainly veto, but a single senator could halt the process, or other processes if it was attempted. Likewise, the Democrats could halt the overall budget process, forcing continuing resolutions at the same funding level, while the media would pummel the Republicans, trying to cost them both houses in 2012.

In other words, for the Supreme Court to kill Obamacare would be by far the fastest and least painful way of doing it.

Our health insurance (100% paid by us with no tax deductions allowed) just jumped 25% for no reason other than anticipated cost increases related to Obama-Kare.

It is already happening.

I work in insurance in ME, and most of my clients are small business owners. In the last three months, we have seen the number of people who say “My company is no longer offering health coverage” or “My company is about to stop offering health coverage” jump exponentially. In an ordinary year, we may have 2-3 companies that are in this position; however, we have had eight inquiries of this type in the last three months alone.

Obamacare Class Action Lawsuit (www.obamacareclassaction.com)

"The purpose of this lawsuit is to reverse Supreme Court precedent related to the Commerce clause and thereby overturn Obamacare. The Supreme Court has historically erred in its interpretation of the Constitutional role of the Federal Government. Recent Supreme Court rulings hint that they may be willing to take another look at Commerce clause precedent. Obamacare is so over reaching and so onerous, that it must either be repealed in Congress or struck down in the courts. We must fight this on both fronts. This is our historic opportunity to reverse America’s trend toward Socialism by overturning this unconstitutional precedent.

If you are a US citizen and agree with the goal of this lawsuit, please join us. If you have concerns about joining, please review the FAQs for more information. Every person we add strengthens the voice of "We the People".

I’ll give you a hint of the quality of the Indian Health Service. The annual outlay for each individual is $1,600. Federal spending for other citizens in 2006 was $7,681. Sucks to be them.
