PHOENIX - Former U.S. Rep. J.D. Hayworth had a much-needed opportunity Friday night to refocus Arizona's Republican Senate primary on incumbent John McCain, and he came out swinging.
McCain, Hayworth and political newcomer Jim Deakin squared off Friday in the first of two televised debates before Arizona's Aug. 24 Republican primary.
"It's really sad to see John McCain, who should be revered as a statesman, basically reduced to a political shape-shifter," he said, then turned to his opponent. "John, you've changed positions so much in this campaign maybe we'll have to set up an extra podium for you depending on which John McCain is going to answer which question."

I think JD won both debates. Deakin sunk himself with his weird comment about allowing “migration” LOL.
Discuss “migration” and “migrants”, and you sound like a UN tool.
McPain needs to call in his friends to campaign for him. I’m sure Obama, Scott Brown, and Grahamnesty would be happy to help.
Don’t be surprised if Sarah Palin pops in to AZ to rescue her
I think she’s done for the primaries... she’s paid her dues, its all on McLaim’s shoulders now...
Jim Deakin followed with something that made people ponder, We need to have a conversation about the difference between immigration which is covered by the laws of immigration and naturalization and migration. What? He is starting to sound like Raul Grijalva. Does Jim Deakin want to give the right of migration to Mexicans? There are a lot of people that come here that dont want to be naturalized citizens; they do come here to just to make their lives better. What kind of mixed up policies is he talking about? He says no amnesty but he wants to give Mexicans the right to migrate for work. This is the kind of off messaging that has hindered Mr. Deakins campaign. Perhaps it may also be the reason that he has such little support in the GOP in general in Arizona and only very small splinter groups of TEA party organizations. This is precisely the kind of thing that will sink the Deakin campaign.

It is unfortunate that few voters watch these debates because if they did McCain would be history. Instead, McCain with his campaign war chest can bury the voting public with his one minute soundbite ads misrepresenting the impact of his voting record.
LOL, or maybe Jimbo is a stalking horse for McCain.
Since I am not a woman of few words, this list is very long with my detailed explanations of each rotten thing McCain has done to us, to our Constitution and to our Republic.
I just hope that Tea Party members that are registered here or who lurk, read your link to get the skinny on little bulldog Deakin and throw him into the political trashcan where he belongs.
Yeah, because we all know that she can activate her mind-control device and force AZ voters to vote for McCain.
Thanks Kate, there’s some very interesting stuff posted on the Arizona forum too.
There must be fair amount of Tea party followers in AZ.
They have been following Palin. Without her support, McNesty
would get very few of their votes. So, in essence Palin , if she makes a second campaign stop for McNesty, He wins.
It is really very simple.
McAmnesty is a radioactive slimeball to the Conservative movement, and she will go down to the level of Michael Steele if she goes near him at this point.
And why doesn’t Hayworth have a similarly large war chest? Are conservatives so apathetic that they won’t contribute a small amount of money to help defeat arguably the biggest RINO around? It’s simple math: $10 x 2.5 million conservatives = $25,000,000 . That should be enough to properly take on McCain. Are we up to it?
I think there is a real opportunity for Deakin, but neither he nor his supporters can see it. There is an opportunity for Jim Deakin to become a statesman on par with Colin Powell and Deakin could literally accomplish it with one speech. I would literally cheer for Deakin if he were to do this. The current fractures in the AZ Tea Party movement would immediately be healed.
Jim Deakin has accomplished as much or more than he could have hoped for. He is on the ballot. He has performed in the debates with a sitting Senator and a former Congressman. He has spoken up for the US Constitution. People in this state know who he is. McCain is actually sucking up to Deakin, for obvious reasons.
Now is the the time for Jim Deakin to endorse JD Hayworth. It would be unexpected and could be done with maximum effect and maximum damage to McCain. It could literally be the shot heard round the world. The Tea Party would be healed. (Birds would start singing again). And Jim Deakin would be the king maker.
Jim Deakin, do it for your country, do it for your state, do it for the Tea Party. Just do it!
