President’s ally: Expectations were set too high after Obama's 2008 election
By J. Taylor Rushing - 07/16/10 06:00 AM ET

President Obama is suffering from expectations set too high by the historic presidential election of 2008, one of his closest allies in the Senate said Thursday.

In an interview with The Hill, Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) blamed unrealistic expectations for Obama’s dismal poll numbers, which have Democrats worried about a defeat at the polls in November’s midterm elections.

“The bar for change was set inordinately high by the tone of the presidential campaign,” said McCaskill, an early supporter of Obama’s who endorsed him over then-Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) in January 2008.

Obama’s long-running primary battle with Clinton captivated Democrats across the country, who rallied to Obama’s message of change. Turnout for the general election was the highest among eligible voters since 1968.

McCaskill said that Obama would have had a tough time pleasing the public no matter the economic situation, but that a collapse in the economy magnified Obama’s problems by sending unemployment to new highs and damaging the nation’s fiscal health.

Why is it so hard for them to understand that we just don’t like him and we don’t like what he’s doing to our country?

EXCUSE ME??

‘let history mark this as the day the oceans began to recede and the earth began to heal’(paraphrase)

Whose expectations were too high? Not those of us who voted against him. We read up on him and found his true agenda before the election. Big Media is to blame for the mess of our country. They could have exposed him for what he is, a Socialist. They supported and still support him. They should be sued for fraud along with everyone in his Administration.

Obama is the one who pushed the expectations to high levels... “we’re the ones we’ve been waiting for!” oh brother... he thinks too highly of himself...

All I know is we Missourians are stuck with her for another 2+ years. Though I do give her credit for voting against amnesty as opposed to our POS RINO Senator Bond.

Oh... he's meeting his goals quite rapidly. He's taken over the private sector beyond belief. His poll numbers suck because Americans don't want the private sector taken over! And we like jobs!!!

“The bar for change was set inordinately high by the tone of the presidential campaign..."

In other words Obama was lying all throughout the campaign. I wonder why CNN didn't notice.

LOL! Of course they were.

Many thought Obama was going to take care of their house payment, car payment and buy them the gas to put in it.

The bar was not set by those who actually attempted to vet him prior to the election. Warning bells were going off even then. Claire-bear is waffling now that her One is beginnning to show his true colors. Not quite ready to jump ship; but e-e-e-e-ver so close to the edge, aren't you Claire?

In the everyday world when one lies in a job interview and gets the position and then their performance proves they are not qualified they get dismissed/fired. The only thing Obozo has proved that he knows how to do is lie, travel, golf and party at our expense. I expect Obozo will not be president next time and I hope that’s not expecting too much.

McCaskill handed Romney the earpiece the guests use to hear the host and said:
“I spit on this before I put it in,” she said to Romney, with a sweet smile.

Really classy; but would you expect anything less from the Party of Genocide? They are the enemy. If they could, they would murder our men, rape our women and sell our children into slavery. This enemy MUST be fought with no quarter.
