Why would anyone give credence to what she says...these folks lie and make up race stories every day of their lives!

The NAACP just made a story about Tea Party racism.
Congressman Lewis makes up lies about being spit upon.

I could go on and on with examples + the fact that she was the beneficiary of some $13 million of my tax money in some shakedown suit......yes, I’m sure we’re seeing a fine, upstanding Colored Person here..........right.

Thanks for the link!

I hope this gets investigated to its core!

There’s alot of racial favoritism and a lot of money being thrown around to quell unfounded and baseless accusations of “racism”.

The flaming hypocrisy of these race pimps is only beginning to surface.

I hope the whole rotten, stinking mess is exposed before November, for all to see.

It will be the end of racial pimping and shakedowns.

Imagine Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton and the myriad other race pimps having to get REAL jobs when Whitey (cracker) feels that his conscience is assuaged after the abuses these pimps and charlatans have hoisted on it.

Enough.

We’ve paid enough.

We’ve paid enough in dollars, in racial favoritism, in “affirmative action” whereby people are promoted based on the color of their skin (dark) rather than the content of their character or any other merit.

Enough!

My parents were Italian immigrants. We did not ever own slaves or participate in the slave trade.

If anything, my ancestors were slaves to the bloody Mohammedan savages that ravaged and ruled the southern Italian boot for hundreds of years.

Where are our reparations?

We were discriminated against repeatedly, even recently, being called greaseballs, wops, guineas, mafiosi, and other derogatory epithets.

We always just brushed it off and became successes, because we WORKED for it.

Nobody ever offered us millions to mollify our bruised egos.

Enough!

The clip at the link doesn’t have her full speech, although I sensed, seeing only the partial clip, that the full talk might reveal the additional nuance you described. However, one problem — in the print story, it says that she was appointed to the position LAST YEAR. If that’s the case, the incident she is describing didn’t happen “early in her career”, I don’t think.,

That may be. . .but my impression was this incident happen years ago when she was working for the county rural development. . .I believe, presently, her position is as the Georgia state head for rural development. . .I could be mistaken on that though. .I was mostly struck by the reality that her story was specifically about her journey from racist feelings to a place where she saw the poor, black and white, as one and the same. . . and thus, how the exerted clip, in my view, unfairly portrays what is, actually, a very moving story that begins with the murder of her father.

Breitbart brilliantly drips information, allowing time for the perpetrators to craft and communicate a defense, only to follow-up with a knock-out punch that swiftly voids the defense and nullifies the perpetrator’s credibility.
Love the Rope-A-Dope technique!

"My ONLY point is Ms. Sherrod is being inaccurately portrayed. "

Sure she is.

But the fact is, that even though she is one of them, she is not a person of power, and therefore was stupid to bare her soul in public, before a camera.

We all have paid the price for things we did or said that were unfairly portrayed or taken out of context.

That's one of the primary perks that motivates human nature to acquire power...so that we can do and say what we want and avoid the consequences that the little, expendable people that the powerful use and then discard every day do.

My only point is that, as such unfair scenarios that abound in a fallen world go, hers doesn't distress me nearly as much as about a trillion others.

I'm quite certain it will be explained to her behind the scenes that if she keeps quiet and accepts her role "for the greater good of the cause" she'll be taken care of.

I think we can focus on more than one story at a time. =)

We know this. I don’t think they expected Glenn Becks reaction on yesterdays show either.

Hence their “scurrying”. In another thread yesterday, a fellow FReeper posted something like “I wonder if Glenn & Andrew are working together again”.....

Looks like they are.

And that is also MY point. . .why use a bogus example (i.e. Ms. Sherrod's "racism" when she is actually telling a story of her journey FROM racism) when there are a "trillion" other valid examples (and growing by the day).

hmmm methinks she is a blatant racist for us by us...FUBU and her further remarks since the tape hit the media do nothing to disprove it.

from the original tape:
16:40...”I made that commitment to black people and to black people only”....

Can somebody explain what is going on? How were the comments taken “out of context?”

Sorry to fail to see why you need to keep pounding this little drum, but

First, the full context of what Sherrod said and how she said it shows that she's far from having journeyed "FROM racism".

Put it into the context of her history that has come to light and the accusations she's making today against Fox et al and your defense of her is what becomes "bogus".

She in fact is NOT an innocent pawn. She's a committed soldier in the cause of politically correct discrimination.

And I'm now convinced that her "forced resignation" is in reality a brokered deal...not unlike the millions her family got far in excess of what they'd have made on their farm if they'd been treated "fairly".

Otherwise her anger would not be directed so much at the messenger and not at those who, for the sake of the cause, she's allowing to appear to have thrown her under the bus so they can look "enlightened".

" Sherrod's family reportedly got $13 million of the $1.15 billion distributed to date under the Pigford civil rights class action suit against the USDA for allegedly refusing to help black farmers. Sherrod was hired by the Obama administration for her USDA post very soon after her family "settled" for a fortune in taxpayer money.

Sherrod's husband had a Student Nonviolence Coordinating Committee SNCC) background (ermember them?). Her own background suggests she knows more about growing and packaging profitable grievances than about growing crops.

If you want to defend poor little innocent Shirley any more, have at it.

But if you direct any more of your defenses to me, please forgive me for having moved on.

Life is meaningless, IMO, if we don't stand up for the defenseless. OTOH, it's wasted if we spend our time defending the indefensible.

But please, feel free to do so on your own with my blessings.

Bump for # 25. That is the way I saw it, too, and I agree with you. She seems a very inappropriate person to use as an example of racism.

However, it was her own team, the NAACP, who was the most unfair to her.

If you watch Ms. Sherrod's entire speech, you may get an entirely different perspective than the one you get from the brief segment.

She is telling a story which begins with the death of her own father killed by whites in a racially motivated attack. She was telling the story of how she had to deal with her own bitter resentments against whites while finding herself in the position to have to help white farmers in her position of director of rural development for her county. She is revealing what her struggle was and she was openly confessing how she was wrong to feel the way she did. She was reporting of this incident that had taken place at the beginning of her career and how she was confronted with her own racial feelings and hatreds still festering and certainly linked to the death of her own father. She goes on to explain how she realized she could not continue with that mindset and how she prayed for God's strength to carry on with an unbiased view. I think this brief clip going around does a great disservice to what Ms. Sherrod is really about. I was actually quite moved by her story. She's a liberal, for sure, and loves Obama. . .but she is being treated very unfairly and is being misrepresented.

That is a very different take on this story that I, and I'm sure many other FReepers, need to hear. How many times have we been victims of out of context quotations?

I'm sorry Ms. Sherrod is a liberal, but unfortunately the racial grievance industry now appears to be a two-way street. Conservatism has its own version of "political correctness."

If, G-d forbid, race war ever comes to this country you may be sure that it will be the poorest--and most religious--of both races who kill each other while secular intellectuals, having stirred the pot from both sides, look in in amusement.

Right. .also, I think the White House deserves criticism for apologizing to Ms. Sherrod, on the one hand, but not to the Tea Party, on the other. Ultimately, another big stumble for Obumble

If you want to move on, then just move on. . .don't make a bunch of misstatements or mis-characterize and then say you want to move on. . .just move on. Now, I wasn't "defending poor little innocent Shirley" . . how childish. I was merely stating what she actually said did not fit the narrative that was trying to assert that she was being an unabashed racist. I was just saying. . there are plenty of valid examples that can be used. . .this was not one of them. . that was the extent of my comment about it. . relax.
