A Facebook note recently posted by Sarah Palin in which the former GOP vice presidential candidate called the planned mosque near Ground Zero "an intolerable and tragic mistake" was deleted from the social networking site -- apparently by Facebook users who reported the note as "racist/hate speech."
The note was originally posted on July 20 but disappeared; Palin reposted it today, with an addendum saying. "The original post of this statement (on July 20, 2010) was somehow unintentionally deleted by mistake or technical glitch."
However, it seems that the "deletion" was actually caused by Facebook users who reported Palin's note as containing "racist/hate speech." There was at least one campaign on Tumblr to have users report Palin's note.
Tumblr blogger "moneyries" -- also known as Brian Ries, a contributor to NBC New York orchestrated one such campaign -- posted on July 22: "Sarah Palin's Facebook note 'has either been deleted, or does not exist.' SHE HAS BEEN REFUDIATED!!!"

Two-Facebook !
Journolisting!
Taken down and put back, it’s world headlines don’t cha know.
Journolista, indeed!
Obviously there are fanatics who disagree with Sarah. That they seek to silence her demonstrates the fascism of their position.
Let ‘em delete it.
Hopefully, someone will delete that (**&ing mosque if it’s ever built.
And I’ll tape the broadcast and have multiple parties afterwards. (Sort of like the muzzies did for the twin towers.
What’s good for the goose is good for the child molester worshipers.

It’s straight from the liberals’ playbook. They don’t want to debate you, they want to shut you up. Shirley “Civil Rights” Sherrod wants Breitbart’s Big Government web site shut down because it “divides us”.
Facebook is run by leftists. There was some campaign to try to delete the post calling it “Hate speech” funny. I never saw the left making a fuss when liberals called for Sarah to be gang raped..but asking for this mosque to not be built, yeah that’s hate speech..bastards..glad the posting is back up. Sarah will NOT be silenced
Not Facebook’s fault. This is what the left does. They ask their little lefties to spend time at work flagging normal people’s posts as “hate speech.”
Facebook, like most other sites, deletes postings automatically when there are a certain number of flaggings.
Clever, these lefties, eh?
Normal people have better things to do in their lives than flag postings. Lefties have no life and are full of self-loathing and hate because they have nothing to look forward to and really despise their miserable putrid selves.
Palin doesn’t need no stinkin’ Facebook. She could launch her own social networking site bypass FB all together,
She got way more attention with that post. More people know about the Ground Zero Mosque, due to Sarah. Mission Accomplished.
Hear, hear!
So is the page back up?
Killing 3,000 Americans is “love” according to the Left Wing Loons.
(((((((((Ping))))))))))))
She’s one smart cookie.
Yes
This incident really draws a sharp distinction between those who see the insult a Muslim Mosque next to Ground Zero would be and those who prattle on about 'tolerance' without realizing the ramifications of effectively bowing to the wishes of those who share a religion with the same people who willfully murdered almost 3,000 human beings on September 11, 2001 and now want to erect a symbol of that same religion that is an insult to the memory of those who died.
This kind of selective amnesia is one reason why the media quickly stopped running film of the burning World Trade Center and the horror of people jumping to their deaths to escape the enveloping flames. Flames caused by a hijacked airliner flown by young Muslim fanatics seeking to 'honor' their god by murdering people. How many clips of that film have been seen on TV since a few days following 9/11? I haven't seen any - and I doubt we ever will again. It would spoil the game of playing 'tolerance' and 'understanding' that the left enjoys - if America and it's people are the victim.
However, Muslims seem to play that game very well, don't they? Crying about 'religious freedom' (try building a Christian church in Saudi Arabia), 'tolerance', 'reaching out', blah, blah, blah. All the stupid buzz words that send a tingle up liberal's legs. It's a sham. They want to build a symbol of what they consider a victory over America, and the brain-dead folks that authorized this monstrosity played along. The NYC mayor, Michael Bloomberg, a fake 'Republican' (yeah, right) is just as bad, but who would have expected better? I didn't.
Sarah Palin gets it - so the left wants to silence her. It won't happen. This Facebook 'glitch' is almost funny if it didn't, once again, demonstrate the petty nonsense liberals will engage in to silence opposition. They failed. They'll keep failing. Sarah wins. She'll keep winning. God bless her.

UPDATE: Noyes (A spokesman for Facebook) emails with an update:
“The note in question did not violate our content standards but was removed by an automated system. We’re always working to improve our processes and we apologize for any inconvenience this caused.”
Riiiiight.
I’d pay to see that.
Maybe their automated system deletes, without human intervention, if there are a certain number of complaints about a posting. They need to instead have a moderator review before allowing deletions. Works on FR!
Just darn. Another name (Brian Ries) to add my intel files. When TSHTF there is going to be a very target rich environment.
I've taken to "reporting" anyone remotely offensive now. Others should do the same. Hell, we could organize and pick a digg user per day to report. Just for fun. No reason to actually use digg. Except boredom.
I still see it on my Facebook page!
We should all duplicate her post on our facebook pages!
.
Nice English, Ries. You hammerhead.
Anyhow, it now appears that she has been "un-refudiated". To coin another new word.
Isn’t it amazingly funny (not HaHa funny)how the liberals and blacks have such strong affinity for muslims regardless of the situation?
Or "defudiated"?
Facebook is run by leftists.
If so, they're not doing a very good job of keeping the conservatives and those against Islam and those against the mosque in New York City - off of Facebook, then ... LOL ... [because they're all over the place on Facebook ... ]
Normal people have better things to do in their lives than flag postings. Lefties have no life and are full of self-loathing and hate because they have nothing to look forward to and really despise their miserable putrid selves.
I don't know that the conservatives and Israel supporters don't have enough time to flag those anti-semites there and pro-Islamists. I just banned one guy a few hours ago from a page for being radically antisemitic. And then there's the JIDF on Facebook (the Jewish Internet Defense Force) who does a real good job of it, too. And there are a ton of others who are all other those guys ... they're doing it ... :-)
Palin doesnt need no stinkin Facebook. She could launch her own social networking site bypass FB all togethe
She does a pretty good job of it on Facebook. I wouldn't advise Sarah Palin to leave that network. It all works to her favor.
Riiiiight.
No, they're pretty much - right on the money there. There is a problem with the "automated system" in which those (like Muslims) can "gang up" on some post or person and "mass report" them and the computer deletes it. That is a problem and I sure do hope that they can work out the problem somehow. I'm sure they don't want to have a person "manually read" everything that gets a complaint - so I'm not sure how they can really work it out. But, it does need to get worked on. I can give you some examples of "mass reporting" and a website that was geared towards that ...
Maybe their automated system deletes, without human intervention, if there are a certain number of complaints about a posting. They need to instead have a moderator review before allowing deletions. Works on FR!
It does ... but there are way too many people and way too many posts to have a person manually reading every complaint. It would cause the whole Facebook thing to collapse of its own weight, if they were to assign people to do that. You can only do it - if it doesn't get beyond a certain number of posts and people. Facebook is way way beyond that ...
I hope the "intolerant group" that "refudiated her" isn't takng names. :)
Sorry for the length...but here is the whole text of her post in case no one else has posted it. If they have, then I also apologize for the duplication.
An Intolerable Mistake on Hallowed Ground Share Today at 10:47am Earlier today, Mayor Bloomberg responded to my comments about the planned mosque at Ground Zero by suggesting that a decision not to allow the building of a mosque at that sacred place would somehow violate American principles of tolerance and openness. No one is disputing that America stands for and should stand for religious tolerance. It is a foundation of our republic. This is not an issue of religious tolerance but of common moral sense. To build a mosque at Ground Zero is a stab in the heart of the families of the innocent victims of those horrific attacks. Just days after 9/11, the spiritual leader of the organization that wants to build the mosque, Imam Faisal Abdul Rauf, suggested that blame be placed on the innocents when he stated that the United States policies were an accessory to the crime that happened and that in the most direct sense, Osama bin Laden is made in the USA. Rauf refuses to recognize that Hamas is a terrorist organization dedicated to the destruction of our ally, Israel, and refuses to provide information about the sources of funding for the $100 million mosque. Rauf also plays a key role in a group behind the flotilla designed to provoke Israel in its justifiable blockade of Gaza. These are just a few of the points Americans are realizing as New York considers the proposed mosque just a stones throw away from 9/11s sacred ground. I agree with the sister of one of the 9/11 victims (and a New York resident) who said: This is a place which is 600 feet from where almost 3,000 people were torn to pieces by Islamic extremists. I think that it is incredibly insensitive and audacious really for them to build a mosque, not only on that site, but to do it specifically so that they could be in proximity to where that atrocity happened. Many Americans, myself included, feel it would be an intolerable and tragic mistake to allow such a project sponsored by such an individual to go forward on such hallowed ground. This is nothing close to religious intolerance, its just common decency.

(HA!--LUV W)
Well, I just duplicated it below on this thread...so copy and paste at will...unless MY post gets deleted! :)
Hello, dear lady! My personal feeling is that truth can’t be repeated often enough, especially in this day and age.
Yep! City squares all over the country will be filled by old ladies knitting while they watch endless lines of "target-rich environment" participants climb the stairs...
Good evening! You are exactly right and that is why I just
had to post what she said...so it can’t be distorted and
perverted without having the evidence at hand. (I also saved
it to my FB inbox. LOL)
Sarah is a beacon of the truth, as is “your” very brave and
intelligent Michele Bachmann. She rocks out loud in my book!
The Tea Party Caucus was simply brilliant on her part!
She and Sarah together? A solid bedrock of truth!
There is now.
smoke + fog = smog.
Now we have REFUDIATED.
BOYCOTT FACEBOOK!
