Bill Binnie was getting a free ride in the Senate primary until Sarah Palin slapped him in her Facebook post backing Ayotte (more on that endorsement below).
Now comes a bigger hit from the pro-traditional family, fiscally conservative Cornerstone Action PAC, the political arm of Cornerstone Policy Research.
Director Kevin Smith says that today, Cornerstone will begin a "substantial" statewide radio ad buy calling Binnie "shockingly liberal."
In the ad, a woman tells her husband that Binnie's "flashy ads are actually hiding his shockingly liberal positions on almost every issue."
She says Binnie has said he "might have voted for" the TARP Wall Street bailout and that he's "excited about New Hampshire's new gay marriage law.
"He's actually described himself as intellectually liberal," the ad says, referring to a 2003 Chicago Tribune article written when Binnie was a self-described independent.
The ad also notes that in the past Binnie has contributed to Democratic candidates such as Marty Meehan and Jeanne Shaheen (it doesn't mention his support for Republicans).
"It's highlighting where he stands on issues that we think the voters care about," said Smith.
"We point out that although Bill Binnie is painting himself as a conservative, his positions are shockingly liberal," Smith said.
He added, "Hopefully this isn't viewed as an attack ad but rather as a fact ad because all of the claims we make in the ad can be substantiated in his own words."
Smith said all positions and statements attributed to Binnie will be documented sourced in a news release to be issued later today.

Ayotte’s a RINO, less of one than Binnie though, for sure. Too bad Steve Merrill couldn’t have been coaxed into running for this seat, he was a solid conservative governor.
All of this no doubt explains the problems the Guv has been experiencing on her FACEBOOK page. Typical Lib obstructionism.
New Hampshire used to be a conservative state. Pity all they can offer is a RINO and an UberRINO. But, if true, it makes Sarah’s endorsement look better.

How is Ayotte a RINO? Pro-life, pro-gun, pro-marriage, pro-tax-cuts, pro-border-security . . . what’s wrong with her?
She stopped local police departments from arresting illegals.
She was a proponent of Sotomayor being named to the SCOTUS.
She supports SCHIP.
She is on record opposing self defense rights, including “No-duty-to-retreat” from your home.

She’s the best of the bunch running IMO, but certainly no DeMint/Coburn/Inhofe/Sessions.
If she turns out better than Snot Brown, I’ll be thrilled.
I still think that she’ll be far closer to a Judd Gregg than a Scott Brown.

I guess I am surprised, based upon your post and link to Erickson’s post on Redstate, that you are willing to “settle” for Ayotte over Lamontagne.
I happen to be an Ovide supporter, and by no means am I alone in NH. Although he is the least well funded as a true grass roots candidate, I can assure you that he and his supporters are headed to the primary to WIN. There are plenty of pro Lamontagne posts on Redstate and he, along with the other three major GOP candidates, are polling over Hodes in the general election match-up. All the recent news here is that the race is “wide open” between the top 4 candidates.

Why is the conservative Lamontagne not your best pic in NH?
IIRC, Lamontagne is a Romney-bot. If that is an accurate description (and I base that on what I have read here on FR) I wouldn't think that is a good thing to be.
I also did point some very serious flaws with Ayotte. Again, being from MA I can't hold any of my delegation up with pride and say “see who I have representing me”.
So, you have RINO-ish Ayotte and Mittens-backed Lamontagne along with the other folks running. I also believe Palin’s endorsement of Ayotte has to do with gender more than anything else, btw. I'll probably get flamed for saying but, but...
That being said, may the best (and the most conservative) candidate win. What else can one say?
Thanks for your post. All valid points. However, to clarify, Ovide supported Romney in ‘08 but Romney hasn’t supported Ovide in return........either not man enough to return the favor or too afraid that Ovide is more conservative than himself.....or too afraid to bet against Ayotte for his 2012 hopes. Ovide is by far our most conservative GOP senate candidate, althought Ayotte paints herself a conservative, the record doesn’t support the labeling.
I was just doing some research, and found that NH doesn't care if you vote in NH, as long as you aren't registered in any other state. Is that your understanding?
