Jared Bernstein, chief economist for Vice President Joseph Biden, served in 2008 as an economic adviser to the Obama campaign. At the same time, he was a member of JournoList, the controversial progressive email list.
Bernstein's bio at Politico, which appears not to have been updated since 2008, states: "He is an economic adviser to the Obama campaign."
He was known to many for his regular appearances on the financial channel CNBC. His primary employer in 2008 was the Economic Policy Institute, a pro-labor progressive think tank, but according to his bio when appointed to the Obama-Biden Administration, he also was a member of the Panel of Economic Advisers of the Congressional Budget Office.

Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
I’ve been looking for the exact quote, but didn’t Valerie Jarret once say that during the campaign, they ‘were able to control the message’, referring to the media?
I think it was called JournOlist for a reason.
Yes, the O stood for Dear Reader, according to Jonah Goldberg.
I believe it was Anita Dunn.
THAT'S why I couldn't find it! Thank you!!!
Chief economist for VP Biden? I didn’t realize Biden had economists - more than one, apparently. They don’t seem to be doing a very good job.
It's probably the guy who reads the Economist out loud for Honest Joe.
Yup...’ole lizard tongue herself.
Don’t forget that he has to explain the really big words too. But they can be really tough when talking about money and all that micro and macro stuff.
That would explain it.
I’m not sure about that, a freeper, wish I could remember who, once wrote that the most dangerous thing about Joe Biden is he doesn’t care that we know he’s stupid. He probably claps his hands and makes o-lips when anything has 3 or more syllables.
I thought all of the Journolists were/are Obama advisors.
They are being paid a salary by a supposed disinterested third party and yet, with the full knowledge and consent of the Obama campaign, they acted in their behalf.
Does their salary, or other compensation become undeclared campaign donations? Can they possibly be subject to fines and other penalties? Can the networks and publications now be considered part of the Obama campaign with undeclared value of advertising donations?
From Laura Ingraham’s site: “...Asked when he left JournoList, Bernstein replied, ‘’I think I left the list around the time I came here.” Bernstein was announced as Chief Economist and Economic Policy Adviser to the Vice President-elect on December 8, 2008.”
Think he’s telling the truth?
“I *think* I left the list around the time I came here” doesn’t sound very certain (or convincing) to me. Think there are more posts/log-ins, etc. from him on JournoList after Dec. 8, 2008?
“You can put lipstick on a pig... uh... err... but it’s still a pig!”
An oblique reference to Palin.
