[history]
An undersea 6.9-magnitude earthquake hit the southern Philippines on Saturday morning but it was too deep to cause any damage, officials said.
No tsunami alert was issued, said the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, based in Hawaii.
The quake hit the Moro Gulf off Mindanao Island at 7:15 a.m. (2315 GMT), the U.S. Geological Survey said. It said the quake had a preliminary magnitude of 7.4 but the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology later reported a 6.9 magnitude.

Three major quakes rattle Philippines
AFP
http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20100724/wl_asia_afp/philippinesquake
MANILA (AFP) Three major quakes measuring between magnitude 7.3 and 7.6 hit the southern Philippines early Saturday, seismologists said, but there were no reports of damage and no tsunami warning was issued.
The underwater quakes struck at a depth of between 575 and 605 kilometres (350 and 375 miles), just over 100 kilometres southwest of Cotabato, on the island of Mindanao, said the US Geological Survey.
The Hawaii-based Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said no destructive tsunami was generated by the 7.3-, 7.6- and 7.4-magnitude quakes, the first of which hit at 6:08 am (2208 GMT Friday).
“It was kind of mild,” said Monisa Tulawie, a staff member at the Cotabato city mayor’s office, who told AFP she felt one of the quakes.

It’s in Mindinao which is good because it is infested with Muslim jihadis living there. They are currently engaged in a guerrilla war with the Philippine government over control of the island.

The woman who was my guardian (I spent allot of time in SW Samar) growing up is supposed to be in PI (North of this EQ Island wise) as we type.
She still wants me to marry the 2nd cousin (no blood to my Irish/Swede) in her family.

Hey Tubebender,
I have been eating beefsteakers/lemon cukes and more good farmed foods.
For over a week.
YUM.
(hint too. I got sick as in forgot to eat fat/protein and lost my land legs untill I did get a bit of beef rib eye )
Well pinging you ( I think your on bd’s list right?).
The Earth has been platonically adjusting this week.
I saw a few normal shakers on the map at your place.
What is so unhealthy is every point in the world is getting pinged.
Except Juan off our coast.
I will take that as a well adjustment on the crust so our area needs “none”.
As a medical prepper we are good.
Ammo as needed. KV care awesome and our other needs.
They are selling flats of blackberries for way too much mula.
I will wait for the natural briars to produce in fall.
I like ‘em (as do the doggies) right off the stem bugs and all.
I have revived my cooking with the touches of Anthony Bourdains No Reservations travel/food show idea.
Simple put it all (fruit/veggies inseason) on one plate with dipping juice on the side.
Sorry I thing I just went off topic.

Quix wrote: "Do you have any recollection of the number of 7.0 and above quakes totalling 9 recently???"Quix, there were only three earthquakes over 7.0 magnitude recently, not nine earthquakes as you have asked.
The three 7.0+ magnitude earthquakes all occurred in the same general location in Moro Gulf, Mindanao, Philippines and all three were "deep focus" quakes, occurring at depths over 300 KM.
Note the comments below from the USGS regarding earthquakes occurring at depths greater than 300 KM deep.
From the USGS:
The July 23rd events occurred in response to stresses generated by the slow distortion of the Molucca Sea micro plate at depth, rather than on the shallower interfaces with the overriding Sanglehe and Philippine Sea plates, active boundaries in this region near the earth's surface.
Earthquakes that have focal depths greater than 300 km are commonly termed "deep-focus" earthquakes. Deep-focus earthquakes cause less damage on the ground surface above their foci than is the case with similar magnitude shallow-focus earthquakes, but large deep-focus earthquakes may be felt at great distance from their epicenters.
The largest recorded deep-focus earthquake had a magnitude of 8.2, and occurred deep beneath Bolivia in June 1994. Over the past 50 years, approximately 50 earthquakes with magnitudes of M7 or more have occurred at depths greater than 500 km; just two of these were located in the same region as today's events.

Thanks much for your info.
I don’t have any explanation for what I saw on my screen.
I have not been able to find such a listing again.
Joya does remember me telling her what I was seeing at the time on my screen—the listing of the 9 in that area and then a 10th one above 7.0 in the South China Sea.
I’m still interested in someone telling me convincingly what happened to result in that posting and what happened to it.

Quix, after spending a considerable amount of time creating a cogent response to you by
- looking on the USGS site and then compiling a list of all recent earthquakes occurring in Asia;
- making all the links click-able within that specific list from the USGS, and finally
- sharing my information and knowledge with you,
still you continue to demand more information.
Quix, it is apparent that you are refusing to expend any effort yourself, and that you prefer demanding that others spend time doing the work for you.
It sounds as if you expect others to guess what it is you want answered, by answering any and all of your unasked questions, and then it sounds as if you expect all of the above be done in a "convincingly" manner.
Throughout all this, I still have no idea what specific information it is that you are demanding be given to you "convincingly."
Instead of expecting me to spend more of my own time and do more work for you, how about you look it up for yourself on your own time using any of the links I have provided to you above, or using any of the many links I have provided in the past.
When you discover whatever it is that you are referring to, please ping me, and I'll ping the Earthquake Ping list so that your research can be shared.
That, or I could always sing my response con gustoso and see if that helps. ;)

I’m just frustrated about it all.
I HAVE spent a very considerable amount of time searching, to no avail.
I was truly shocked to see such a listing. Now, I’m equally shocked that it disappeared without a trace like a fog in the Phoenix sun.

We had a earthquake a couple of hours ago off the coast of Oregon.
It is closer to tubebender though in Cali (State line).
It was just 81 miles off the coast and a 5. somethin (cant remember exact) so it shoulda/coulda been felt on land.
Your right Cold Heart about the canned juice.
KV loves the fusion in his feeding tube when wanting a break from the normal formula.
I drink Safeway canned juice (real tomato not reconstituted puree and $1.65 for a bit can then I make a big virgin mary for breakfest in the winter).
I am a crazy Tomato Lover.
I am stocking up on fruits to freeze for my Fruit smoothies in the non-affordable fruit season.
We are preppers. Even have a palate of the Salmon/Sweet potato dog food. Which at that size of order we get a 15% discount.
