Today's journalism scandal involving liberal media members of the invitation-only "Journolist" listserv discussing ways to help 2008 presidential candidate Barack Obama or discredit his press critics is far more organized than the Clinton era "vast right-wing media conspiracy," according to former Clinton aides.
While the two media conspiracies have been compared since the listserv E-mails started appearing on the Daily Caller website, former Clinton aides say that there is one major difference between the two. Unlike the current scandal, reporters with conservative media back in the 1990s were competitive and didn't share story ideas.
What's more, the Journolist affair threatens to further undermine media credibility, especially with Republican organizations who tell us that they are reconsidering their relationship with reporters and news organizations on the Journolist listserv that was taken down when it became public.
"Do I think that there are potential issues with that if you get people trying to take particular positions and organize them because that ultimately undermines the objectivity of the media and the sense of independence, yeah," says former Clinton aide Chris Lehane.

What has been looked over in this story is Hillary getting the short end of the stick by these journalists as they worked to get Obama elected and discredit Palin. And this at a time when the Clinton’s were thought to own the media.
Funny how the drib drab is slowly coming out from the Clinton camp about Obama. From their friends at the Globe running Obama B/C reports, to Bill getting media coverage slamming Obama’s policies while seeming to still be supportive, reports running on how Hillary had the DNC nomination stolen from her and now the Clinton’s coming out against journalists coordinating to help a Dem candidate.
I’m popping lots of popcorn for next year - watching the Clinton machine take on Obama’s when he’s slowly turning into a wounded tyrant will be worth watching. Almost as good as seeing which journalists remain in his pocket after being outed for propagandist they are.

Remember the Billary picture dancing in the Caribbean right before the Monica story broke? Remember the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy quotes? Remember the “gravitas” quotes about Cheney? Rush has aired the coordination of the political class and media “talking points” for quite some time.
This is not rocket science, nor is it clairvoyance. They have “coordinated” for very long time...for at least 60 years...even though the JournoList listserve hasn’t been around that long
I believe that this story is driven by Hillaryites, and one of them gave Tucker the emails.
We’ve always known the media has coordinated what they report, anyone who doubted this was either a idiot or a DU poster!
You may be right, in fact, I’d say it’s pretty probable that it was a Hillary supporter who outed the list. Only liberals who towed the line were allowed in and I’m positive many of them were Hillary supporters.
It does fit with what I’ve been seeing lately; the Clinton’s managing to get all sorts of positive press that just happens to be damaging to Obama. Could it be the Clinton’s have moved from the “Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy” to seeing Obama the real enemy (not that they won’t come after us once he’s been crushed)?

The formation of the JournoList group was just formalizing the coordination between some in the media, education and op-ed elite wannabes.
Believe me when I tell you that there are Hillaryites who are fuming at the crooked way that Obama ran his campaign. Right now, they are smelling blood, and they won’t let go.
The sad thing for this country is that, should she decide to challenge him again, she might just win this time. The other side doesn’t see her as being as big a Marxist and Alinskyite as Obama is...which she is.

Or those is the media believed Obama would be easier to own then Hillary - he was an unknown on the national scene. I’d not put it past power-hungry journalists to think they held as much power with Hillary as they were ever going to get and Obama gave them the opportunity to own another politician.
Now they’ve learned he can’t be owned. He has no loyalty except to himself. He’s not going to let the media control him or his policies and they resent him for it.
I’ve not made up my mind if pro-Hillary journalists are gaining more power or if the media has finally sickened of Barack. Something is going on though.
Hillary is patient if nothing else and she did put herself in a good position. By working for the Admin they can’t throw the charge that she’s not loyal and it may help lessen the racist charge effectively used against her during the election.
You are right, she’s more dangerous than Obama is in many ways and what makes her dangerous is most American’s don’t know her radical background or her marxist beliefs.

The foremost thing to remember is that Hillary is a creature of New York City. Period. It is her power base. It is not a conspiracy theory to state that her ultimate base is the secular Jewish community in particular.
Barack Obama has gone a little too far for their tastes in kissing Muslim butt. He is unreliable for looking out for their interests (political and commercial), unlike Hillary.
The Journolist exposure is part of the process of getting the press back onto the reservation. That includes the more radical Jewish reporters who made up the bulk of Journolist.
Sam Zell bought the Tribune but it turned out to be a bad deal. Business principles and liberal media/propaganda dissemination are mutually exclusive goals.

Talk about the fox guarding the hen house! They get to not only be part of the scandal, but also be part of the cover up.
Note how they say the Journolist was made up of mostly columnists. Columnists are paid to have opinions. But not straight news reporters. The lie here is that these Journolist conspirators weren't straight news reporters. But they were! Many of them. And THEREIN lies the scandal.
Posing for your readers and viewers as a "just the facts" reporter while conspiring to smear Republicans and support democrats is just plain fraud. Even if only a small percentage overall were straight news reporters, it is a terrible thing to do and stabs the credibility of the media right in the heart. Who can you trust to tell the truth? Not any reporter who was on Journolist! Since they won't release the list of names of who was, we can only conclude that any reporter was.
But they'll do whatever they can to mislead the reader away from that honest and despicable conclusion.
The physical plant required to support a traditional media outlet, print, voice, or video, is massive. Plus you have to be willing to lose money for years before you show a profit.
But, conservative businessmen (well actually women) are getting into the media world. They are bypassing the physical media and going directly digital. That is why the liberal/progressive/socialist/democrats want to put a “kill switch” on the Internet.
You know your history well, but the last several decades of media manipulation was done under the guise of the myth of the “honest reporter”, set forth by Hollywood in the 1930s and 40s and people like Edward R Murrow, Walter Cronkite, and David Brinkley.
Most Americans in the last half of the 20th Century fell for it, and we're still suffering the ramifications today. It would be far, far better for us if we did go back to the openly partisan coverage of yesteryear. The modern myth is a great falsehood!

Chris Lehane is the most honest of the people interviewed for this story. He specifically says the JournoList is fundamentally more dangerous than the alleged VRWC.
On another note, I do believe there should be a grassroots outcry for Republicans to refuse interviews or contacts with the media outlets who had their staff represented in the JournoList. If those staffers are not reprimanded (at the least) or fired, no interviews.
This is amazingly corrupt: The American media conspired to elect a president they refused to investigate (by investigating and falsely accusing anyone who would even look at BHO’s background).

Informed Hillary supporters are still ticked off at how Hillary was treated during the campaign and how it was stolen from her. Uninformed former Hillary supporters were so wrapped up in making history by electing a black liberal President, they’ve forgotten their initial support of her.
It’s almost comical to think about it. When Hillary was forced to tell her supporters to get behind and support Obama (which she did quite credibly though it had to be eating her alive) she peeled off a good number of quasi-informed Dem voters. The ones who pay little attention to what goes on politically until right before the primaries and still give Obama high marks for running the country.
If Obama runs in 2014 how does she get them back?

The problem you describe came about as broadcast media came of age. The timeline is identical. Along about the same time small newspapers were being bought up by large conglomerates. These days small independent newspapers are scarce as hen's teeth. It started first with radio networks. Guys like David Sarnoff at RCA controlled the airwaves. Then, as television came along media was further consolidated into essentially 3 major outlets. People gradually stopped reading newspapers and began getting their news from the "big three". Uncle Walter was born. Eventually, we saw competing newspapers in larger cities, the one semblance of balance in media, fall one by one. The result was as you describe.
The Genie (the Internet) is out of the bottle, though, and the Ivy Leaguer's suddenly don't like it at all. There are now hundreds of sources of information beyond the big networks. The "big three" are losing viewers and listeners at staggering pace and they know it. Listen to all the cat calls to shut down the "new media" and the blogosphere coming out of mainstream media. If they could compete with ideas they would, but they can't. History and facts aren't on their side, hence the charade they've been putting up for decades. If you listen closely you'll hear the big media tell you exactly who threatens them the most......
We had heard she was going to study medicine when she entered Stanford, be a cardiologist (helpful to Billy Jeff it would have been, eh?), but she did not follow on that, I know she changed majors, course of study. I don't recall at the mo', Poly Sci or Law, I think it was Law. Something tells me she is looking toward living off the taxpayers the same as the grifters.
Yep...and it will be interesting to watch what happens if the PUMAs and the Obama cultists collide again. The PUMAs are much smarter about Obama’s minions and their tactics than they were in ‘08.
