Duisburg, Germany - At least 10 people died Saturday at a techno-music festival in the German city of Duisburg when crowds of people were crushed in a tunnel leading to the event grounds, police said.

Early reports by news channel NTV said that 15 people had been resuscitated by emergency rescue staff following the crush at the Love Parade event, which reportedly occurred when a security control point was overwhelmed by festival goers.

Any idea if alcohol was involved?

"I think when the people density is high enough some folks will freak out and then the mass starts moving. Christian or not."

I was in the crowd at Dodger Stadium when Pope JP2 came. Though it was packed, no one pushed, everyone was polite - even in the parking lot! People were letting cars in front of them, taking turns.(!!!) We called it "the miracle of Dodger Stadium" because usually, after a baseball game, it was a zoo!

>They are afraid if they stop the music that would cause more peril.

Yeah, couldn’t make an announcement over the PA instead of music to tell the morons to act like intelligent humans.

"A good amount of public sex, and public urination and deification in front of cheering crowds."

Either that third one's a typo, or it's your typical DemocRat crowd worshiping their Messiah, the One, Obama...

Very sad. Horrible feeling to be stuck and pressed in a crowd. The deaths are meaningless.

Which is another reason why I prefer Iron Maiden crowds. Generally older, nicer people.

19 from the latest report and 300+ injured.

Crazy. Packed like sardines. Not my idea of fun.

They have a strange interpretation of “love” in Germany, if that’s the result.

Not to trivialize the event (and I enjoyed Berlin when I was there last summer) but didn’t like over 60 people die in a train crash in West Bengal? It barely made the news. I guess 16 Germans > 60 Indians?

Poor assumption. You're forgetting that other factors were not equal.

Remember that F*** Parade was started because of the restrictions of Love Parade.

Yet Techno Viking* never would have let this happen.

I am not surprised. I would not be surprised if more than most of the crowd was on something at times.

Raves are not a bad thing, but you get that many people in a space that confined anything can happen.

Of all the concerts I've been to, metal fans generally seem to be the more polite crowds (outside of the mosh-pit aggro of the younger bands.) It'll be interesting to see how this gets played against Wacken Open Air which starts in 11 days. With Maiden, Edguy, Alice Cooper, and Mötley Crüe playing, I really wish I could get over to Germany for this one.

That’s a heck of a bill for a night.

Yeah, with bands like that, people definitely go for the music and entertainment, not to throw punches with big sweaty men.

Wait until the German government brings in the Turkish police. They’ll bring those infidels under control.

What parallels can we see from this compaired to liberalism ?
Liberalism does not consider how it effects the lives of others.
Liberalism is out only for it's own self.
Liberalsim brings the soul to a based, animalistic condition.
Liberalism never looks farther than today.
Liberalism reacts only on emotion.
