NHS bosses have drawn up secret plans for sweeping cuts to services, with restrictions on the most basic treatments for the sick and injured.
Some of the most common operations including hip replacements and cataract surgery will be rationed as part of attempts to save billions of pounds, despite government promises that front-line services would be protected.
Patients groups have described the measures as astonishingly brutal.
An investigation by The Sunday Telegraph has uncovered widespread cuts planned across the NHS, many of which have already been agreed by senior health
service officials. They include:
Restrictions on some of the most basic and common operations, including hip and knee replacements, cataract surgery and orthodontic procedures.
Plans to cut hundreds of thousands of pounds from budgets for the terminally ill, with dying cancer patients to be told to manage their own symptoms if their condition worsens at evenings or weekends.
The closure of nursing homes for the elderly.
A reduction in acute hospital beds, including those for the mentally ill, with targets to discourage GPs from sending patients to hospitals and reduce the number of people using accident and emergency departments.
Tighter rationing of NHS funding for IVF treatment, and for surgery for obesity.
Thousands of job losses at NHS hospitals, including 500 staff to go at a trust where cancer patients recently suffered delays in diagnosis and treatment because of staff shortages.
Cost-cutting programmes in paediatric and maternity services, care of the elderly and services that provide respite breaks to long-term carers.
The Sunday Telegraph found the details of hundreds of cuts buried in obscure appendices to lengthy policy and strategy documents published by trusts. In most cases, local communities appear to be unaware of the plans.
Dr Peter Carter, the head of the Royal College of

Imagine that! You mean it’s not the greatest thing ever? Go figure...
Outsource it to India, Turkey, Thailand etc. Save a fortune and get great service

Coming to all hospitals near you soon! - Obama
Coming soon to a wanna-be third world Hell hole near you!
Government run Non-Health-Care at its finest. If implemented in the United States it will always be the first to receive bodget cuts. The Obama/Democrat Party controlled federal government is not interested in meeting the health care needs of citizens. Nationalized health care is for controlling people and influencing the way they vote. The socialist Democrats will cut peoples' benefits as soon as it is politically expedient to do so. Only liberal, "progressive" politically correct protected groups of supporters will receive quality medical care. The rest of us are scheduled for extermination through lack of care.
This is just plain cruel, barbaric even, and we here KNOW that measures such as this will part and parcel of the ‘healthcare’ plan here right out of the gate.
It’s mind-numbing that the same idiots who voted for king barry and approve of the upcoming rationing and killing plan are the same ones who think animals should have lawyers.
If we treated our pets as badly as the UK is now treating their sick and elderly (soon to be on our own shores) these leftists would be calling the authorities and hauling neighbors into court for cruelty to animals.
My God, forgive me. I hate them.
The difference is that Americans, unlike the Brits, who have suffered with the NHS since the end of WWII, are used to excellent medical care - not rationing - and won't simply roll over and take this kind of screw job from their government. Well, I hope not. However, if we just accept this kind of rationing, we'll get what we deserve, but I don't think that will happen.
Any private business would find ways to maintain service. It would cut expenses, chop administrators and invest in capital to allow more to be done with less.
But when there's no profit motive -- when your very livelihood doesn't depend on providing the best possible service, then, of course -- you let your customers die.
Yes, the references to “privatization” of former NHS services may really mean globalization or globalist outsourcing as you infer. You are on to something. Berwick, here in the US, might (probably is) be open to the same thing regarding Medicare and Medicaid.
Financially, in this country, we have just been globalized by and outsourced to the Fed Reserve by the Congress through the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (how Soviet), a creature entirely under the control of the Federal Reserve, a non-US corporation.
I don’t see cuts in sex change operations or HIV treatments listed anywhere, do you?
No. But single mothers get only one try at a test tube baby and, thus, increased dole payments, down from three.

Are they going to stop funding abortions? Purely luxury procedures should not be funded by taxpayers—discontinuing funding the elective luxuries would free money for people who need care.
Old people and unborn are a burden.

In the USA, the Obama/Pelosi/Reid fix is to ship everyone to Hospice Centers, give them a pill, and let them die. We have our very own Liberal Holocaust in the making. Welcome to AuschwitzCare. Bend over and kiss your rectum goodbye.
The death panel fix. The Obammunist has already appointed his Dr. Mengela, aka Death Panel Commissar Donald Berwick.
Pelosi/Reid didn't have to be on the record as approving. The new Dr. Death was appointed through the black door while congress was at recess.

“Coming to all hospitals near you soon!”
With administrators like Shirley Sherrod to look after you too!!
Perfectly worded and true for the U.S. now!
That's because the country's budget deficit is astonishingly high.
hmmm...the intersection of reality and inevitability..
That is a very good point. With a staff of 1.4 million (in a country of just over 60 million), the NHS has an enormous amount of political clout. Any UK politician even daring to suggest cuts to any part of the NHS is going to suffer.

I hope all those Obama voters take note.

Actually, this makes a lot of sense. My wife is a nurse, and they have a lot of patients funded by the government (Arizona). She says the fraud and abuse of the system are staggering, because there is no rationing - a doctor can order as many tests or exploratory surgeries as he desires, and the government pays the tab.
When the government pays for health care, there is only ONE way to control costs: rationing. The Obama fans are just too STUPID to know. The few that do are dishonest about it.
They don’t have any money to pay for the services......
That's because pets are near and dear to them. Humans aren't.
Never heard of HMO's huh?
A young boy, from Maryland, called Levin last Friday and told him of a movie they were forced to watch, no opt out option. The gist of the propaganda film was that it is selfish and unpatriotic for old people to hold onto life, and rob resources from the needy.
Gee where have we seen that kind of Propaganda before, Oh I remember it was in 1939.

Good point. However, the fact remains they’re running out of money. You cannot fund the pensions, the nonproductive bureaucracy and coddle tens of millions of free loaders.
Ripening up the people to accept euthanasia.
Every day more dots are being connected. The picture is becoming clearer to more people.
