Don’t resign Charley. Stand on your principles...all the way through November.

The BIG question here is “Why is the 1960s radical faction of the Democrats trying to force Rangel out of office?”

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_current_members_of_the_United_States_House_of_Representatives_by_seniority

Committee chairmanships are generally strictly by seniority, and Rangel is fourth in the House in seniority. This made him chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, that controls US tax law.

But the #3 congressman by seniority is Dave Obey, who is a complete toady and lickspittle of Nancy Pelosi. He is in charge of the MOST powerful committee, Appropriations. That committee determines the entire US budget, where all the money goes.

And Dave Obey is not running for re-election. This would mean that, if the Democrats kept control, Charlie Rangel could tell Nancy Pelosi to stick it in her ear, and he might, because he is not part of the 1960s radical faction.

That would mean that the Obama agenda would be co-opted by the Rangel agenda. And the 1960s radical faction does NOT want that to happen.

So they are going to force Charlie Rangel out of his “right” to have that chair, and maybe congress itself.

Fortunately for Rangel, the next most senior Democrat is Pete Stark of California, who is obnoxious and nobody likes, because of “his sometimes bizarre behavior and penchant for making offensive comments.” The Democrat after Stark is another California 1960s radical factioneer.

Don’t forget, fat, drunk Teddy Kennedy got away with murder as well as DWI and got to keep his seat until the day he died.

Look at Marion Barry...

He can’t even tell a good lie. They have been in “negociations” for a month. Ofcourse he knows what they have on him. He better take his potted plants advice and SHUT UP.

His criminal acts were taken out of context. He will be getting a public service award instead.

I’ll remember that line the next time a Republican is accused of something or other.

The only thing remotely “patriotic” about the dim wit Rangel is his Korean War service.

"Rangel is the perfect poster boy for this Congress."

Can we get a "Career Politician" wall of fame poster, somewhere? Just a reminder for November.

Unpatriotic my elbow!

If he gets a true and fair trial, he is facing jail time and probable loss of pension for systematically looting the American people while masquerading as a public servant.
