Dean: Fox News “racist”
The Fox News Channel’s handling of the Shirley Sherrod controversy “was absolutely racist,” charged former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean.
Appearing on Fox News Sunday, Dean, who is also a former Democratic National Committee chairman and hero of liberals, asserted Fox News failed to vet video footage of a speech misleadingly excerpted to make it appear that Sherrod was boasting of using her post as an Agriculture Department official to discriminate against a white farmer.
“I don’t think Newt Gingrich is a racist and I don’t think you’re a racist,” Dean told Fox News host Chris Wallace, “but Fox News did something that was absolutely racist. They took a – they had an obligation to find out what was really in the clip. They had been pushing a theme of black racism with this phony Black Panther crap and this business and this Sotomayor and all this other stuff.”
When Wallace interrupted Dean to point out that Fox did not air the excerpted Sherrod footage until after the Obama administration had fired Sherrod based on it (the excerpts were featured on Fox News’s website prior to her firing), Dean shot back “it was about to go on Glenn Beck, which is what the administration was afraid of.”
And Dean mildly rebuked the Obama administration, as well, saying “we’ve got to stop being afraid of Glenn Beck (a Fox News host) and the racist fringe of the Republican Party. But Fox News was not blameless during this. You played it up.”
Dean dismissed Wallace’s point about timing, asserting “you didn’t do your job,” and charging that Fox News has helped the Republican Party foster racism by focusing on allegations of reverse racism.
“The tea party called out their racist fringe and I think the Republican Party’s got to stop appealing to its racist fringe. And Fox News is what did that. You put that on,” Dean said. “Continuing to cater to this theme of minority racism and stressing comments like this – some of which are taken out of context – does not help the country knit itself together,” he said.

Dean knows Glenn's show prep then? IT DIDN'T AIR ON BECK'S MONDAY SHOW, IT DIDN'T GET REPORTED ON FNC UNTIL AFTER THE AG LIAISON TO THE WH HARASSED SHERROD INTO TENDING HER RESIGNATION. One is entitled to his own opinion, however, he is not entitled to his own facts.

Once again pointing out to this *genius* that Glenn Beck is not a Republican. AND was the most vociferous of the bunch in defending this Sherrod, no matter I believe him to be in error. Sherrod attempted to notify Vilsak LAST THURSDAY via email that this video existed and was to air ... why the concern, why the need to give the AgSec a *head's up* if it is oh-so-redeeming, exculpatory? And just how did Sherrod know that it was going to be widely shown, time to provide that warning, eh? Has anyone asked her??

The word ‘racist’ has been dumbed down.
Remember the story a few years ago about the word ‘niggardly’? Or the story about the two words used on Parallel ATA hard drives, Master & Slave?
Religions do this sort of thing, taking a simple prohibition and building a wall of other prohibitions around it to make sure adherents do not violate the first prohibition.
Kosher in Judaism is an example. Dancing in some protestant religions is another. The list goes on.
But WRT racism, today we can’t say or do anything that supposedly offends any black people or we might be called racist. It’s devolved into silliness.

It would not surprise me to learn Wallace is on the List.

IMHO...Clinton shows up at the WH for an “economic strategy session” with the man who would be king, and a few days later we have this little misdirection appear on the scene.

The more the Dems play the race card, the smaller their party becomes. Ultimately, they will represent only a Jeremiah Wright-like constituency.
Chris Wallace hammered Dean with the information that Fox hadn’t mentioned Sherrod’s name or aired the video until after Obama fired her. Dean looked first like he’d been shot and then like a deer in the headlights.
It was well worth the price of admission.

To mock the people who call Fox racist. Show idiots calling Fox racist often enough, and the entire concept of calling somebody a racist is seen as a tactic of idiots.
If he had anything tangible to say against conservatism or Fox, he would have said it.
Notice he DIDN'T say things like "Fox is biased toward conservative points of view," or attack conservatism itself by saying "small government doesn't work" or "reducing government spending is bad for the economy" or "free markets actually reduce the quality of human life"...
He didn't say these things because they are self-evidently wrong (so wrong that everyone can see it).
So all he had left was some old saw used by the left.
