An attempt in Scott County to tally up the price of illegal immigrants who break the law is being both praised and panned.
In response to inquiries from two county commissioners who face reelection challenges this year, County Attorney Pat Ciliberto told the County Board not long ago that it costs a fortune.
University of Minnesota immigration expert Katherine Fennelly said the county's top prosecutor is "creating lots of smoke where there's no fire."

...quoting a Government Accounting Office (GAO) study.
Reflect on those numbers for just a minute.
This GAO study is only counting the number of arrests! And that should bring two questions immediately to mind:
How many actual crimes did these 55,322 criminal aliens actually commit?
How is it even conceivable that each of these illegal aliens could be arrested on average a total of almost nine times?
To at least partially answer the second question, you only need to look at so-called "sanctuary cities."
Sanctuary cities are localities across the United States where liberal mayors and local legislators have instituted policies that prohibit law enforcement from cooperating with federal immigration agents and prohibit them from even questioning the immigration status of anyone they arrest.
But to add more insult to injury, many American cities even allow illegal aliens to obtain free health care, food stamps and a whole assortment of government goodies without having their immigration status questioned.

Thanks for the including the GAO study on illegals.
Facts are facts yet still lefists deny illegals are costing us so much more than they supposedly contribute
Hopefully the country is awake now on this issue
They just have to put a so called expert into the article.
“Fennelly said the likely reason for those increasing numbers needs to be clear.
“Under President Obama, there’s been a dramatic increase in holds in local jails,” she said. “Immigrants overall are less likely to commit crimes than non-immigrants — that’s been demonstrated over and over again. And people here illegally take special care to keep their nose clean for fear of being sent home.”
Illegal immigrants are committing a crime by being here ...illegally! Yes you elitist moron the very act of them being here is a crime! You may try and change the subject to include all immigrants by dropping out whatever your favorite word for them is,something like ‘undocumented’,but the fact remains! Its a criminal act to smuggle oneself into this country! Now go back to your lecture hall and try and figure another scam way to get paid,we’re onto you.
I’m not holding MY breath.
There needs to be some way to expedite non violent criminals out quicker and at a reduced cost.
If they are coming back 8 times, that in most cases costs them $5000+ a pop to get back in this country.
The quicker we get them out, the quicker they can go broke IMO.
Whoever has the authority to realease, sheriff or parole board can grant a release. probation or Parole has the authority to grant out of jusrisdiction residency or release form jurisdiction. They should start on deportation the day the illegal lands in jail. We had so many, we had an INS (at that time) assigned to our place on a full-time basis. Deported dozens straight from our custody. Something can always be done if a particular state has the will and sets up a system. Of course, ICE cooperation is the other variable.
Ping!
Some folks are finally waking up...too little, perhaps too late...
Lets charge Mexico for all the money we pay on their citizens health, education and incarceration. We give them the bill. If they can not pay—we take land from them. Baja would be a good place to start. We force the people out and replace then with Americans. It could be the 51st state. If they still can not pay we take more land until we seize 1/2 of their territory.
