Notably absent from her website bio is the part in bold from the govt. website:She serves on several boards, including the Institute for Justice, and from 1992 to 1997 was a member of the Aspen Institute's Domestic Strategy Group.
Digging themselves an ever deeper hole.
“Worst case of voter intimidation he had ever seen.”
I think you’re referring to Bartle Bull, looooong time civil rights attorney going back to the ‘60’s in the South, worked with RFK and Fat Ted, and eye witness to the event.
In the linked clip he says:
“Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy did not die to have uniformed thugs blocking the doors of polling places with weapons. This is the first time in our lifetime that the administration is protecting the abusers instead of the voters...because they want to maximize the vote — intimidate poll watchers, allowing illegal ACORN voters to vote.”
Beck’s right. Our Republic is dead. Needs CPR, fast.
Does this headline refer to the alleged spitting and use of the “N” word at the tea party rally on the day of health care passage?... Oh wait, my bad.. This must be about the video at the polling place which clearly shows a Black Panther holding a weapon.. Sorry..
What about the VIDEO-?!?! Are these people STUPID, or BLIND-!?!? Do they think WE ARE-?!?!?
Seeds for the new revoluation have been planted.
LOL! This is the same Bob Schieffer that deliberately misstated the Arizona law when “interviewing” Eric Holder a few weeks ago, and who claimed in an on-camera interview a couple of weeks ago that he had never heard of the Black Panther case.
Now he’s “interviewing” some other Obama shill, giving them unfettered national air time to blatantly lie about there being no other evidence than the video tape. DOJ has reams of sworn testimony about this case from multiple witnesses, independent of the video tape.
Wonder why Bob didn’t ask about that? Is he going to claim ignorance of the basic facts once again? If so, this old fogy needs to be put out to pasture pronto before he starts drooling on camera while he gums his applesauce. On the other hand, NBC may simply have turned Face the Nation into the “All Obama Administration Propaganda Show”. You decide.
Amen to that!
I say send bikers.
>>suggested that the charges being made by right-wing figures are politically motivated.
Of course, its political. They weren’t stealing hubcaps. It’s a political crime, you idiots!
then they would have become targets of their own neighbors.
The New Panthers would be happy to tell Ms. Thernstrom they’re proud of their comrades struggle against The Man. However, the NBPP law team, though down with the struggle (fist in the air), strongly caution the NBPP to remain silent. We clear, ayeet.
Then so be it. If we’re afraid, then we’re lost.
Can this ditzy lady explain why the DOJ even got a temporary court injunction against them doing the same thing? If there’s nothing wrong with it at all?
Am I missing something? Isn’t the article saying that there’s no evidence that the Obama administration tried to stop an investigation? Everyone here seems to think that the article says there’s no evidence that the New Black Panthers tried to intimidate voters.
Joseph McCarthy was a hero. Had enough listened to him, the country would be far freer today.
Thernstrom is arguing that the "small potatoes" case was dropped NOT because of any formal Justice Dept. policy protecting blacks over whites but because there was "no direct evidence that they (the uniformed, weapon wielding black panthers) actually intimidated anyone."
Some of us here believe the video and the words of eye-witness Bartle Bull and others indicate obvious and egregious intimidation and would like to know exactly why the case was dropped.
It was a movement there for a while, until Joseph Colombo, its founder, was assassinated.
They need to fire this white cracker and install Saint Sherrod into this important racialist position!!
So, I guess the KKK will now be able to stand at voting sites with clubs and it will be OK with Hussein Obama and his racist attorney general.
Remember these folks are desperate, they know that November 2, 2010 will be a MAJOR political tsunmmi.
Maybe I should have read further. I only read what was posted on FR, so my bad, I guess. Thanks! I agree with you that there is plenty of evidence that there was voter intimidation going on, by the way.
This story by CBS is the opposite of helping.
Also this reminder..
For those that may not get the point.
In the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) every match has a GOOD guy character(s) and a BAD guy character(s)... however, they ALL work directly for the WWE and are helping to put on the show just for YOU.
ALL WWE Events are SCRIPTED in ADVANCE.
Never mind what you saw on the damned TAPE! You’re supposed to believe what I SAY!!!!
Thank God, Media Matters, and cBS, for that matter, don’t have a dog in this hunt! /heavy, heavy sarcasm
“No evidence....” OK we will believe you and not our own eyes. Sorry, but we have SEEN the tape.
Deflect, project, and blame. Lather, rinse, repeat....
Wow... just wow.
All these people need to be purged.
OMG. If that isn’t evidence of intimidation, then what is? Can we white folks now bring billy clubs too?
What we ought to do is stage a fake voter intimidation that looks exactly the same and see what they do.
I’ll be wearing a Gadsen Flag t-shirt to the polls. Let’s see what happens.
“Here’s an excellent piece ripping Abigail.
The Case Against the New Black Panthers (McCarthy rips “conservatve” Abigail Thernstrom & DOJ)
Yes, Andrew McCarthy ripped this dingbat a new one in that article.
What’s even more outrageous about Eric Holder’s Dept. of Injustice passing over the voter intimidation in this case is how brazen they are about it.
If they want to O.K. headknocking, they may not be too pleased with the way it turns out.
If they are going to call Adams a “Republican activist” then they should have the honesty to call Media Matters a “Democrat smear group”. Heh, who am I kidding?
Please have your next of kin keep the video recorder rolling and post a link to FR. After your beat down, keep up the fight by repeatedly saying "I can't feel my legs, I can't feel my legs".
Read the evidence and testimony again. The tall "panther" actually stood blocking the doorway from one voter. This testimony was entered into evidence.
The reason she doesn't know about it is because she only watches ABCCBSNBCCNN and reads the N.Y.T.
“...in fact, the Bush administration decided not to pursue criminal charges, with Assistant Attorney General Thomas Perez testifying that the Bush Justice Department “determined that the facts did not constitute a prosecutable violation of the criminal statutes”;...”
So gear up next election in combat boots, military like uniforms, carry your nightstick, and stand in front of the entrance to the voting precinct. Tell the voters that whites are gonna win this election, and we are back in control now. Since it has been determined to do so does not violate any criminal statutes. The Bush JD says so.
The thing is, the DoJ attorneys had already won a default judgment in the case when their superiors dropped it.
“A recent Media Matters investigation has debunked charges”
From 1995 until 1998, Perez served as Special Counsel to Senator Edward Kennedy, and was Senator Kennedy’s principal adviser on civil rights, criminal justice and constitutional issues.
For the final two years of the Clinton administration, Perez served as the Director of the Office for Civil Rights at the United States Department of Health and Human Services.
Perez also served on the board of Casa de Maryland, a group that advocates for the Latino community in Maryland.
Not to me, but apparently it does to the DOJ.
If you are of a certain race, and you pick on another certain race, the DOJ has been instructed NOT TO INVESTIGATE, nor ACCEPT ANY EVIDENCE.
Example: The BLACK PANTHER CASE.
The 'evidence' is there and the Justice Department has refused to acknowledge it.
Gerald Walpin (fired by Obama for blowing the whistle on a BBALL player who is a 'friend' of Michelle) thinks it has to to with racism.
J. Christian Adams (Asst Atty. General who resigned over the Black Panther case) thinks it has to do with racism.
J.Christian Adams: Former Justice Department lawyer J. Christian Adams made explosive allegations yesterday in testimony to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, saying that a particular Justice Department official openly announced that civil rights laws would not be enforced to protect white voters. He also said he saw race-based harassment within the department itself.
AND YET, that evidence has been THROWN OUT OF COURT, along WITH THE CASE.
Am I correct?
You are correct. The case was already won BEFORE it was dropped.
NOW I understand why Shabbaz had a BILLY CLUB.
If I looked like him, and was such a skinny little pussy, I’d carry a BILLY CLUB too.
Otherwise the little 12 year olds might beat him up.
I believe it is Dr. Malik Zulu Shabbazz who is prohibited from carrying a nightstick to a Philadelphia polling place until 2011.
So you pays your money and takes your choice.
