Throughout our nations history, the United States has been a nation of immigrants. America has been a home to them; they have been a blessing to us.
As an American, I am certainly not opposed to immigration; I am opposed to illegal immigration.
And, there is a difference!
Moreover, I wholeheartedly support Arizonas decision to put some teeth in the enforcement of federal immigration policy.
However, I believe Arizonas law doesnt go nearly far enough to adequately stem the flow of illegal aliens into our country, a policy that is killing our citizens, straining state budgets, and risking our national security.
Here is my plan to cure the illegal immigration crisis in America:

When SB 1070 becomes law then it’ll be open season on illegals by the Arizona criminal classes. All they have to do is tell every Hispanic that they rob or assault or defraud that if the victim goes to the police then by law they are required to check immigration status if they suspect the victim is in the country illegally. Fear may be the most powerful incentive for leaving.
How bout Mine the Border??
Obama is doing a great job of deterring illegal immigration!!! By eliminating the difference in our standard of living and that of Mexico, eventually no one will sneak into the the US!
Brilliant!!!
(Do I need the /s tag?)
Until Americans who favor enforcement of immigration law become confident enough to discuss the issue without that sort of introductory, PC drivel, I doubt many will ever present the issue very forcefully or convincingly. It's about whether or not we are a nation of laws, not whether or not we are a nation of immigrants.
The debate of solving illegal immigration is far, far from having the last word......
Yes! Pillboxes. Drones with Hellfire Missles would help too. Maybe a moat with flaming oil. Anything but Obama.
That doesn't make sense.
Remove the jobs and they won't come. The fence and the rest become irrelevant.
I'm not sure I agree. The narco terrorist drug runners and other assorted ner-do-wells aren't coming for the jobs.
Well said. I am sick and tired of every article beginning with blather about how we’re a nation of immigrants and immigrants have so blessed us. Or, “I’m absolutely thrilled with LEGAL immigration, so please don’t think I’m a racist or anything!” It’s time to stand firm, with no apologies.
I was watching Meet the Press or one of the similar programs back around the 60’s. Illegal immigration was actually a big topic back then too.
They had on the head of the Border Patrol, Harlon Carter. They were all surprised when Carter said he could stop it cold if given proper resources. It seems every administration, democrat and republican has purposely kept the Border Patrol too weak to do it’s job.
We will have to simply demand our politicians do something. Not even Reagan who was the best president in the last 100 years, did his duty on the issue.
Yeah. I'm pretty sure it's far too popular a divisive election tool to ever actually do anything to solve.
In 1965 the democrats changed the immigration laws to end white immigration and to open up third world and Mexican immigration and make it unlimited, by creating chain immigration.
Once we had enough Mexicans and other immigrants filling our cities, it then became very difficult to separate out the illegal flood that joined the “legal” flood, the 1986 amnesty destroyed the easy ability most of us had to spot Mexican illegals, by totally muddying the waters.
At one time those of us in border states could tell an illegal instantly, but the amnesty of millions of them meant that the ones we easily identified, could actually have been made legal by that act, so that barrier disappeared overnight.
Well that's you, Buster. As for me I'd like a time out on both, and I'd like a return to pre-1965 immigration that favored a mix of European peoples over the continued influx of Mexicans and Central Americans which is radically transforming the nation.
Under the authors theory if the illegals left, and Obama increased the quota's to let in 30 million Mexican and Central American immigrants legally that would be hunky dory with him.
Just because something made sense in 1800 or 1900 (massive immigration) doesn't mean it makes sense today.
What population density do we want, as a nation. Here in Southern Washington entire counties are moving from rural to sub-urban to accomodate population growth which is 100% immigrant based. (Not all the people moving here are immgrants, of course, a huge percent are escaping from California and other immigrant-magnants because they don't want to live in the teeming polyglot madness that is LA and the Bay Area.)
We are a nation of child laborers. We ar a nation of slaves and slave holders. Time to move on, declare the "age of immigration" for the USA over, and try to salvage what we have left of our Anglo-European heritage while we still form a working majority, in at least a few states and regions.
The Constitution is not magic talisman that turns illiterate Mexican peasants, or their children, into little Thomas Jeffersons in a generation or two.
Dang another amnesty lite plan, asset forfeiture for both employtee and employer and jail time for the employer and the end of the anchor baby BS. Any illegal caught in the country after ninety days would also forfeit all assets and be forcible removed from the country.
We are a nation of LEGAL Immigrants! But that has been changed from European immigrants who contributed to the third world who only take, create Crime and Squalor.
