Colorado Tea Partyers say Tancredo betrayed them
The Denver Post ^ | 07/26/2010

Leaders of 21 state Tea Party groups, representing about 10,000 people, said Sunday they have been betrayed by Tom Tancredo and in an open letter beseeched the former congressman not to run for governor as a third-party candidate.

Tancredo has given Republican gubernatorial candidates until noon today to commit to pulling out of the governor's race after the primary if polls show the winner trailing Democrat John Hickenlooper.

If that doesn't happen, Tancredo says, he'll run for governor as the American Constitution Party candidate.

My question: Why would Tea Parties want to endorse the same old GOP?

Some people think that a liberal with an (R) next to their name is somehow better than a liberal with a (D) next to their name.

Me, I'm not playing that game anymore. A liberal with an (R) next to their name is still a liberal and a person who votes for a liberal with an (R) next to their name is still voting for a liberal.

Starting this year, I only support Conservative candidates. That may mean third party in a lot of cases, but I'm tired of being a Conservative every day of the year except election day when I pull the lever for way too many liberals with (R) next to their names.

If you prefer Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House and Harry Reid as Senate leader, then carry on.

I agree with your sentiment. Elephants may have long memories but it takes them just as long to learn

If you prefer to keep on sliding towards socialism and the destruction of our freedom by supporting liberals with (R) next to their names, then carry on.

That made no sense, but my statement did, if you don’t defeat democrats, then you keep them in power and leadership.

If you prefer Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House and Harry Reid as Senate leader, then carry on.

A liberal is a liberal regardless of whether they have an (R) or a (D) next to their name. If you vote for RINOs/CINOs, you are voting for liberals. If you don't understand that, then I don't know how to make it any clearer than that.

If you are confused about RINO/CINO:
RINO = Republican In Name Only
CINO = Conservative In Name Only

U-2012>Where was the Colorado Tea Party ?

Fighting the regurgitated GOP supported candidates that were put forward (Norton, McInness).

They don't get out much.

Well since Norton had to petition to get on the ballot for the primary and McInnis is in the second slot on the ballot, I’d say for their year and a half, they did pretty well fighting the pathetic CO GOP.

If the TEA party expects to win they need to take
over the roots of the party and develop candidates.

Why doesn't Tom run in the R primary against the two Republican candidates? Does he just want to be crowned the R heir apparent?

1. He chose not to run at the convention or in the primary.

2. Yes.

I’ll take my chances with McInnis than with Tancredo.

Tom Tancredo is the Charlie Crist of Denver.

Also if Buck wins the primary, the media will make Buck comment on every crazy thing Tancredo says since Tancredo endorsed Buck for Senate. The Dems could maintain the Governor and Senate. Ugh.

You don’t understand that a democrat will always vote for the democrat leadership and will be a dependable member of the democrat party.

If you don’t defeat democrats, then you keep them in power and leadership.

If you prefer Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House and Harry Reid as Senate leader, then carry on.

I’m very conservative, and I’m a Colorado voter and I am so angry at Tancredo I could spit. The ONLY thing he cares about is getting attention for himself.

I have to wonder if Hickenlooper paid this dolt under the table, since the ONLY possible effect of a Tancredo run would be that the Dems keep the governorship. YES, I wish Penry had run, but it is too late now. And Tancredo is too dumb (or selfish) to understand that.

Tom didn’t run, and after the two choices were on the ballot a lot of negative news was released.

It shouldn't be just democrats you want to defeat, it should be all liberals regardless of the letter next to their name, because a liberal Republican will send us down the road to socialism as surely as a democrat. The only difference is the democrat will send us there a little quicker.

When there is a difference (and there always is), vote the difference.

Turning offices over to democrats, not only loses that office, it also strengthens the entire structure of the democratic party and enhances their chances to win the leadership, and it makes the incumbent hard to get rid of.

Think of all the leftists like Boxer and Murray that squeak in, and then stay there for decades because of the power of incumbency.

There is no difference between a liberal with an (R) next to their name and a (D) next to their name, other than the speed at which they will send us down the road to socialism.

It's one of the things that has interested me in the Tea Party movement, since so many people in the movement have told me that it's not about any political party, it's about supporting conservatives. That's not always the case as this Tancredo thing is proving, but the majority of members I've met or know believe that if we don't start working towards getting conservatives elected now, we dang sure won't be able to in the future.

If we don't take a stand now and support only Conservatives, our grandchildren and their grandchildren will be cursing us. I've wasted too many years blindly supporting too many liberal Republicans, and I probably have 20-30 years left on this planet, and I'm not going to piss it away voting for liberals who pretend to be conservatives.
