Posted on 07/26/2010 6:37:01 PM PDT by pissant
At 85, Phyllis Schlafly has still got game.
The anti-feminist founder of the conservative Eagle Forum -- who counts Barry Goldwater's 1964 White House run and the 1982 death of the Equal Rights Amendment as exquisite victories and the "internationalist" presidencies of George Bush 41 and 43 as "not helpful to the Republican party" -- hasn't mellowed one whit.
That she made abundantly clear Thursday afternoon at the Conservative Political Action Committee conference in Washington.
Lord knows she still looks great, the poufy blonde hair perfectly lacquered, the fitted tweed jacket tricked out with her signature golden eagle brooch and tiny anti-abortion baby feet, her neck encircled by three stands of pearls and a chain from which dangled a cross of gold.

Oooooh, the original mama grizzlie speaks - and doesn’t back Palin. Wonder how the Palinstinians are going to spin this one?
I’m always ready to consider alternatives.
Unless the last name is Thatcher, slim chance Id be pushing a chick for prez.

Smart, yes, but mistaken about Palin. No one is ever really “ready” to be president, but Sarah is a far sight closer than Obama or most of the other 2008 GOP contenders.
THE HUCKSTER did NOT fool her either!!
Phyllis Schlafly goes even further by claiming Huckabee destroyed the conservative movement in Arkansas, and left the Republican Party a shambles. Strong words!
I think she likes Palin. In fact I’m sure of it. But she knows it’s really a man’s job - unless a Thatcher shows up on the scene.
Neither, apparently, are blacks /s
See post #4
Yep. I’d give due consideration, however to Mrs. Bachmann, if she had a serious Nat. Security man as her VP. Which she would.
That's just wrong....
And I'm not a woman.
I'm quite sure there are some women, that are perfectly capable of being POTUS.
I like Schlafy, but I think she's wrong here.
Certainly not the 1/2 black, 1/2 baked Jimmuh Carter model we’ve got now.
Phyllis Schlafly for President! No, wait...
Except when she's, er, quitting her elected position because she can't handle the media attacks.
Wasn't she on the radio and elderly...30 years ago?
Reagan was more than ready. As was Washington, John Quincy Adams, Coolidge and a handful of others.
Congresswoman Bachmann has zero executive experience, just like Mr. Obama in 2008, yet Governor Palin has quite a bit. So this is about Sarah Palin to you, is that it?
Exactly what do you mean.....here?
I await your insight........
I wonder what Duncan Hunter Sr. would think of such an ardent follower not wanting women to vote, let alone be President?
Where's your Falcon Party tag? The other guy quit?
Sick Willie had lotsa executive experience and Abe Lincoln had none.
Why would I agree with that statement? To fit into the sissified, politically-correct mentality that even many "conservatives" have imbibed?
How about voting? That a “man’s job” also?
Why would you put up a quote from another woman btw?
It makes no sense, you have such contempt for them why do you post opinions by them?
She’s entitled to her opinion, but I’m still for Palin.
What the Hell did she think Sarah did? Hair and nails?
This is more "women need to be barefoot, pregnant, and in the kitchen" crap. Schlafly completely ignores what Sarah is accomplishing now.
Now I'm sure Schlafly will be the darling of the leftist media because she gave them their anti-Palin soundbite.
Pissant has gone on record saying he doesn't think women should vote, nor be President (which he later qualified only if they were Thatcher like).
A conservative posting he doesn't think women should vote. What a nice reputation for FR. It bad enough seeing FR get accused of racism and general kookery by folks like O'Reilly. Now they can add anti-women to the list.
Can she name a man that is ready? Thought not.
This is from a site 5 months ago fwiw........
“...who counts Barry Goldwater’s 1964 White House run and the 1982 death of the Equal Rights Amendment as exquisite victories and the “internationalist” presidencies of George Bush 41 and 43 as “not helpful to the Republican party” —”
How can one 85-year old be so right about so many issues?
She is brilliant.
I highly recommend “The Supremacists,” an excellent analysis of judicial activism and a simple fix.
Maybe, maybe not. But the fact of the matter is that Sarah Palin is not. Let's face it - she quit her position as the governour of Alaska because of how mean the media was to her and her family. Well guess what, lady? The media is full of mean people. Politics is full of mean people. The world is full of mean people. If she can't hack it, she needs to go back to whatever she was doing before she became mayor of Wasilla, AK.
I agree - the woman gives a good speech. I should know, I've seen her live in action. She knows all the right words to say, and she does have a knack for picking the winners in primary elections. But those are not leadership traits.
She’s an idiot, and probably a relative of Duncan Hunter.

Are you really a Catholic?
LOL—I was wondering why you posted that, then I remembered pissant doesn’t want “chicks” to be able to vote.
Because he’s trying to cover his arse. He is now on record as saying women shouldn’t vote. The cat’s outta the bag.
Nobel prize for stupid comment!
You may note, in my much maligned (by the whimpering feminists) first statement the other day on this subject, I laid out the exception - “Unless her name is Thatcher” - which, contrary to your interpretation, did not literally mean 85 yo Maggie would have to move to the US and get a false BC like Obama. It means that that is the only type of woman I’d consider. And that, right now, leaves Bachmann closest to position.
Repeal the 19th is more accurate.
I’m still thinking Michelle Bachman.
The Presidency is not just a mans’ job.
There is nothing in the constitution that says the President has to have a penis. Nothing there.. Just have to be over 35 !
Yep, she sure can. It would be a long list, populated with names like DeMint, Hunter, Bolton, North, Cain, Rounds, etc etc.
>> But she knows its really a mans job
But she didn’t say that.
Strange position you’re taking if you consider the choice of either Obama or Palin where Obama is biologically the “man”.
What a pantload.
I think you doth protest too much. You posting history is quite clear. Your words are forever emblazoned on FR for all to see.
Good luck trying to weasel out of them.
