A jet owned by Nascar team owner Jack Roush made a hard landing Tuesday night at EAA Airventure.
The Ratheon 390 jet was attempting to land on runway 18 at Airventure when it came down hard.
The plane is registered to Roush-Fenway racing in North Carolina.
Roush was piloting the plane and was able to get out without help.
Channel 5 found pictures of Roush severely injured and bloodied.

Not having very good luck with the whole jet thing is he.
That’s not his first crash. A few years ago he was flying an old WW2 plane(IIRC), and was rescued from a lake.
Some people aren’t cut out to be jet pilots, even if they can afford it.
Is it time for Jack to turn in his other wing?
FAA needs to pull his ticket before he kills someone (other than himself).
Ouch! Another Premier I landing accident. Not a good record at all.
I think this guy should let the pilots fly and he should be in the back seat.
Because the third time might be the charm!
Perhaps Mr. Roush ought to find a new hobby.
I'd take an Amtrak next time to get where ya gotta go if I were you.

My husband flew the Premier. It was a sweetheart of an airplane to fly and he never had any problems landing.
As long as you know the airplane’s limitations and set up for a proper landing, you shouldn’t have any trouble landing it.
Pilot error?
My sentiment exactly, this guy needs to hire a professional pilot. The FAA may take action this time, i.e. pull his license. Further, I doubt he will be able to get insurance on a replacement jet if he intends to pilot it. This crash is going to cost his insurance company many millions of $$$.
“pilot error?”
Yes, initial reports by good eyewitnesses are that he got slow on final, stalled, hit hard. Oshkosh is very distracting to fly into. There are always deaths. It’s kind of a side story every year. How many die going into and out of Oshkosh.
Not very funny. Hope he’s ok.

might depend on how much blood was in his alcohol system.....
He may want to consider his age. Of course we don’t know what happened yet.
Was he alone again this time and does he fly some of his Nascar crew to and from the races himself?
“might depend on how much blood was in his alcohol system.....”
Hadn’t heard that rumor. Hope it’s not true. Lot’s of attention when you do this at the world largest airshow..
Have you heard anything additional to this story?
Thanks,, Talk about nine lives or what..
The tail was hanging off the thing so he must have really nailed it,, a wing may have touched and ..
Someone better fact check that, my sources tell me Roush was not in that crash
nevermind EAA - AirVenture Oshkosh Confirm pilot in #OSH10 accident this aft. was Jack Roush
Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that two occupants on board were Roush and Brenda Strickland of Plymouth, Mich.
It was not one of his WW2 aircraft. It was an ultralight that crashed in a lake. He was real lucky getting out of that thing.A fisherman saved him who was on the lake nearby. The cat in the hat using another of those nine lives.
He was with his wife Brenda. They were landing at the Oshkosh Wi airshow. Fox is now reporting he is in Critical Condition but not life threatening.

I couldn’t make out much, except that the fuselage was cracked open. That had to be a high g touchdown. I couldn’t tell if the jet was on or off the runway surface.
When I was a youngster living in Fresno a Chevrolet dealer crashed a small plane in the Sierras and he was found alive... with another woman. By the time he got out of the hospital after many surgeries his wife owned the business...
They’ve got a new video up than what I saw initially. Says the right wing tip hit the ground first in the grass and that the nose contacted next and that the plane cart-wheeled.
They’re very lucky there was no fire.
Really. He has lots of time on his ticket in many different types of aircraft and I would fly with him. In all such cases, I wait for the NTSB before placing castigations on any plane crash. If it was pilot error, I’m sure the FAA won’t be so inclined to go easy on him.
So let’s just get some more information before jumping the shark like Beck did (NOT) on the Sherrod story Monday a week ago./sarc
There is a reason why folks like him need to stick to hiring people like me to fly him around in his cool toys...
Just like he needs to let the professional drivers drive his cars, he needs to hire a professional pilot to haul his ass around...
These little VLJ’s (Very Light Jets) are the next breed of “Doctor Killers”...
From an aviation site..
According to witness reports, the aircraft was turning onto final approach to runway 18 at about 1815 CDT when it apparently overshot the the runway centerline. Several witnesses said the pilot reportedly stalled, recovered, and then lost control of the aircraft a second time. The right wing of the Premier touched the ground, and the aircraft spun 180 degrees, breaking into two pieces. The fuselage broke approximately midway between the wing root and the horizontal stabilizer. The engines continued to run for several minutes after the accident, but there was no post-crash fire.
So I guess that any pilot with 8000+ hours since 1983 is a bumb in your estimation. Jimmy’s seaplane crash was taking off on water and a wake caused a loss of control. $h!t happens in airplanes as well as in cars, trains, bicycles and even motorized wheelchairs. Castigate him all you want if it really makes you feel better but I thought the general concesus on this site was a bit more concerned with all the facts instead of envy, no matter what you think of the guy’s perceived personality.
Also just read about a midair that happened in the pattern today at Oshkosh. Both planes made it down OK. Lucky.
Jack doesn’t seem to be a great pilot.
TV reporter at link said it was his secretary
I’m curious how the outcome would have been had the plane been of aluminum construction instead of carbon fiber.
“Im curious how the outcome would have been had the plane been of aluminum construction instead of carbon fiber.”
No difference for this accident.
put some ice on that
They survived.
You know the saying...any landing that you walk away from is a good one? I don’t think it applies to this one.
A fellow legion member flies ww2 era planes with Jack Rousch. I’ll get the lowdown.
When that 8,000 hour pilot has crashed twice nearly killing himself and doing serious bodily injury, my answer is a resounding... YES!!!
So I guess we take away all licenses of people who have had two car crashes in 27 years? Enjoy your walk.
