Investigators recently entered an organic grocery with a search warrant and ordered the hemp-clad workers to put down their buckets of mashed coconut cream and to step away from the nuts.
Then, guns drawn, four officers fanned out across Rawesome Foods in Venice. Skirting past the arugula and peering under crates of zucchini, they found the raid's target inside a walk-in refrigerator: unmarked jugs of raw milk.
"I still can't believe they took our yogurt," said Rawesome volunteer Sea J. Jones, a few days after the raid. "There's a medical marijuana shop a couple miles away, and they're raiding us because we're selling raw dairy products?"
Cartons of raw goat and cow milk and blocks of unpasteurized goat cheese were among the groceries seized in the June 30 raid by federal, state and local authorities the latest salvo in the heated food fight over what people can put in their mouths.

More likely, they raided because the store was owned by hippies.
Yes, yes, but were they wearing gas masks?
Hey, scumbag liberal Democrat morons - - meet scumbag big government thugs.
Where’s my popcorn?
Aggravated agriculture? Felonious farming?
Time for the nanny state to take a time out.
Exactly.
"It is for the children..." yeah... same excuse to justify any fascist/commie jackboot measure.
That's because reefer will make you stupid, whereas ecoli, botulism, and salmonella can make you dead.
I *love* that they sought comment from the Minnesota Ag rep. While the actual story was near Venice Beach. This kind of thing can’t be made up... Anyone with an interest in the subject might also consult: Alexander Cockburn, “A meat column for July fourth.” June 30, 2000

Key word is UNMARKED. Raw dairy is legal for sale in California, but regulations (including labeling) must be followed.
Please, Please Mr. Government, make sure I am ‘safe’. I am too stupid to take care of myself. Please tell me what to eat, how much salt to eat, how many calories, how much sugar.
Maybe you should ‘raid’ my home to make sure I am not eating anything illegal?
By the way, I smoked a cigarette today, and drank a small bottle of Vodka. Am I under arrest now?

And dead people don’t pay taxes
Heh-heh!
I shouldn't laugh though. I grew up on illegal raw milk, straight from Betsy the cow.
But they vote early and often.
Aahh ah ahahahaaa, aahh ah ahahahaaa
What will you do if we let you go home,
And the plastic’s all melted,
And so is the chrome?
WHO ARE THE BRAIN POLICE?
Aahh ah ahahahaaa, aahh ah ahahahaaa
What will you do when the label comes off,
And the plastic’s all melted,
And the chrome is too soft?
Aaahhh!
Think I’m very tired and I’m going to die
I think I’m going to die, I think I’m going to die
WHO ARE THE BRAIN POLICE?
Aahh ah ahahahaaa, aahh ah ahahahaaa
What will you do if the people you knew
Were the plastic that melted,
And the chromium too?
WHO ARE THE BRAIN POLICE?
Glad to see that those dangerous criminals were stopped. /s
But dead people don’t use Bummercare either
I never asked and Grandma never told;)
So far, the comments here miss the point.
The cops probably are duty bound to write the store up, but a raid with guns drawn for such an offense is absolutely over the top.
Who ever set up the raid should be canned.
This is the type of offense that could have and should have been settled by an inspector, who then would simply file charges with a court summons delivered by a deputy.
Idiots who have been to too many Rambo movies.
The universal rule is that you do not ever draw a weapon unless you are ready to use it. These cops were going to kill someone over unlabeled milk?
Did they actually expect a firefight in a raw food store. ‘Put down the goat milk scumbag...and get on the floor’ WTH?
I think the store has a viable lawsuit, just from being threatened with live arms and the way the thing was handled. Very overblown. It just doesn't work that way.
Next thing you know they will burst into your house, weapons drawn, to see if you removed the tags off of your cushions.
Your comment just qualified you to be one of the gestapo storm troopers in this and other similar raids. Get a life.
Who would buy milk without any labeling?
And shoot your Yorkie.
Your comment just earned you the Godwin's law prize in the first volley. Get a goat, raise some kids.
Sometimes I’m for gun control. Who gave those fools guns?

I see. I guess that's all right then for the government to threaten to kill people for not labeling food correctly. Sometimes I'm a little bit behind the times of the current status of the police state. Thanks for helping to clear that up.
Yeah, I'm pretty amazed sometimes at how accepting people are of this kind of stuff. See my previous post above.
But I just have to comment that one of the most asinine superstitious ‘trying to sound like science’ pieces of crap I ever read was the “Enzyme Nutrition” book that these raw food nutzo’s read like the Bible. What a big steaming pile of bull excrement!
But then again I guess nobody ever accused vegan raw food hippies of being smart, and their children sure won't be. Bunch of anemic scrawny short underdeveloped brain indoctrinated twits, arguing that their diet is superior despite its OBVIOUS defects.

I doubt that their guns were really drawn. I’m thinking it’s creative license on behalf of the author of this fluff piece.
IOW, WTF is that?
Sorry! I just thought most would recognize FZ and MOI
Real funny!
