Also welfare classes and government employees - which sometimes are the same.

For the first time in American history, the President does not control Washington DC. Just that in itself should tell people something. Pelosi and crew control DC.

I wonder what the left more strongly approves of within the last three days...
The only “news” coming out was that he was going on “The View” / “Loose Women”.

-15?? WTF?
I'm placing my bet on statistical noise. It has been very consistent around -17 for the past couple of weeks. We got a couple of days close to -20, now down to -15. But the longer averages are rock steady at -17.
The numbers probably won't move much until the election. This is because I don't think there are any more illusions. Those that can be angered by Obama are already angry. Those who want a socialist nation are already in Obama's camp and cannot be moved out of it no matter what news they hear.
Things will break out of the range after the election, or a day or two before if the results seem obvious. If the GOP wins huge, +70 house +10 the Dems will fracture and you will see Obama's overall approval drop into the low 30s. If things go as expected +40 house +7 Senate, things will stay about where they are now. If the GOP completely blows (they have been known to lose sure things) watch Obama's numbers go way up. If we end up with Harry, Nancy and Obama for another two years many Tea Party people will give up and become resigned to perpetual socialist domination.

Typical, inexplicable bounce he seems to get every 10 days — now, watch him go almost even on overall a/d. I’ve tried to analyze what generates these surges, but there doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason.

I don’t get it. How can he be bouyed like this? Is it because the media isn’t really reporting on the oil spill anymore?
To: Dubya-M-Dees
When will scotty rasmussen realize that his sine-wave polling results are bogus... it is impossible for the results to fluctuate at the same rate for a year... there is no way that there is a 10% shift on a weekly basis.

It’s called Monday. The poll that comes out on Monday morning includes Sunday, when the Christians go to church and can’t answer the phone. I have noticed that Obama gets his best scores on Monday, usually.

It seemed like everytime there was a big jump in O’s approval, I looked up and it was Monday. It’s anecdotal.
To: Anitius Severinus Boethius
there is variance in daily polls and Rasmussen reports the data he gets.Five points in one day is a lot. But it is absolutely huge when you consider that Ras uses a three-day rolling average, presumably to smooth out the variance.

To: kevao
When you poll daily, you also have more frequent outliers. Jumps of 5 points shouldn’t be too surprising. Watch the trends, keep the monthly rate in mind, and don’t forget the forest for the trees.
To: Anitius Severinus Boethius
Yes, I understand. But just imagine what Ras’s numbers would be *without* the three-day average. Would put DOW volatility to shame. LOL.
