SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) – Increasing pressure on lawmakers to negotiate a state budget that closes a $19 billion shortfall, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger declared a state of emergency over the state's finances on Wednesday.

In the declaration, Schwarzenegger ordered three furlough days per month beginning in August for thousands of state employees to preserve the state's cash to pay the state's debt obligations and for essential services.

California's budget is several weeks overdue and Schwarzenegger and top lawmakers are at impasse over how to balance the state's books.

Between their goofy legislature and goofy courts, Californians are are doomed. It’s too bad that Arnie can’t take action like the British PM and fire the entire government and hold new elections. It’s a quick way to turn things around.

Yawn. Another day, another California fiscal emergency.

The only state of fiscal emergency that anyone in California will pay the least bit of attention to is the one in which California can’t make their bond payments, employee payments, entitlement payments, and income tax refund payments. Now THAT, will be a true state of fiscal emergency.

Handy tip for California residents: Don’t let the State of California over withhold your income tax.

Actually, isn't this the part of the movie that is so poorly done that you can predict every scene thereafter?

i.e. -- no budget will be put in place. Article after article will complain that the budget process "is broken." Blame will be put on the evil Republicans that will not vote for increased spending and taxes. And.... wait for it... the ONLY solution is to do away with the 2/3 majority vote requirement. Voila! Voters believe this garbage and you can kiss California good-bye.

$1.2 billion is just for the stated federally funded health care.

When you count state welfare, education, state health, etc — it is in excess of $10 billion annually (and those estimates were from several years ago). I would guess it is somewhere in the $15-20 BILLION dollar range.

And that's not even counting the health care costs of American citizens infected with the various diseases being spread by the illegal aliens undocumented immigrants "displaced visitors."

I wondered about that. I know some folks at the US Forest Service and the creation of that term might have been a bit of deliberate sarcasm on somebody's fault.

California’s next big crisis will put this into better perspective. After they make marijuana completely legal, no one is going to care about the silly budget anymore. They will, however, be devastated by the twinkie shortage.

Calif is turning into a Third World with taxpayers subsidizing every whim whining illegals demand. Illegals benefit from the day they violate California's borders. They cost taxpayers billions per year......in schooling, health care, direct payments, etc.

RIDING THE US GRAVY TRAIN---THE SAGA OF PEDRO An illegal alien w/ wife and five children violates our borders. He gets a job mowing loans for $5.00 or 6.00/hour. At that low wage, with six dependents, he pays no income tax, so each year, he files an Income Tax Return to get "EITC---earned income credit" of up to $3,200 scot-free.

He qualifies for Section 8 housing and subsidized rent. He qualifies for food stamps and no deductible, no co-pay free health care. His children get free school breakfasts and lunches. The kids qualify for monthly SSI checks by faking ADD; the illegal and his wife get SSI by faking being aged, blind or disabled; SSI qualifies them for Medicare.

Plus illegals don't have to worry about pricey items like car insurance, life insurance, or homeowners insurance, and they qualify for relief from high energy bills.

=======================================

DON'T HAVE TO WAIT FOR OBAMACARE It is presently against the law to refuse healthcare to illegals. Illegal aliens actually bump US citizens for healthcare. Mexico, the country that is the staging area for illegal invasions, has long-promoted America’s generous public health centers.

Mexico operates Ventanillas de Salud---a Spanish-language program---in about 12 US cities that refers its nationals on US soil illegally---to clinics where they can get free medical care without being turned over to immigration authorities.”

ALL OF THAT IS COLLECTED WITH JUST ONE IDENTITY

Illegal Jose Madrigal, the Washington state rapist, had some 30 identities.

EACH FAKE IDENTITY COLLECTS US GOVT FREEEBIES,
--- AND AS EVERY DESPERATE DEMOCRAT KNOWS ---
EACH ILLEGAL IDENTITY VOTES AND VOTES AND VOTES

==============================================

The Obama admin continues to tolerate this ntl-security nightmare of illegals using multiple identities for fear of offending the Mexican government, the National Council of La Raza, and other immigrant advocates....all of whom are providing Democrat voters to endangered Dems. This outrage is burdening taxpayers and polluting our election system----b/c these criminals adopt multiple fraudulent identities.

Evidence shows illegals establish several identities with phony SS nos and fake documents (which these "poor immigrants" buy from document brokers for several thousand dollars). Illegals also get their anchor babies SS nos. They then use the SS nos to establish fake identities.

Amnesty Will Cost U.S. Taxpayers at Least $2.6 Trillion
Heritage Foundation | June 6, '07 | Robert Rector

S.1348, the Senate amnesty bill that was recently defeated would grant amnesty to nearly all illegal immigrants currently in the United States. Overall, the net cost to taxpayers is likely to be at least $2.6 trillion. Illegal immigrants generally have very low education levels. 61 percent of illegal immigrant adults lack a high school diploma. Illegal immigrants have a poverty level that is roughly twice that of native-born Americans.

The Senate's bill would offer amnesty and a path to citizenship to 12 to 12.5 million illegals currently in the U.S. In addition, its lax evidentiary standards would encourage millions more to apply for amnesty fraudulently. Because there is no numeric limit on the number of amnesties that could be granted under the bill, the actual numbers who would receive amnesty under the bill could be far higher.

Eligibility for government benefits means that the former illegal immigrant or his family members obtains the same benefits as a U.S. citizen would have. Children born within the United States to illegal immigrants, including Z visa holders, are potentially eligible for all welfare benefits from the moment of birth through the reat of their lives. In addition, adult Z visa holders and their foreign-born children will be eligible for medical care under the Medicaid Disproportionate Share Program.

Z visa holders will be given lawful Social Security numbers which makes them eligible for two refundable tax credits: The Earned Income Tax Credit and the Additional Child Tax Credit. These credits provides cash welfare assistance...

Irrespective of employment history, amnesty recipients will become eligible for 60 different federal welfare programs five years after receiving legal permanent residence. When the amnesty recipients reach retirement age, total benefits received will OUTSTRIP TAXES PAID BY ROUGHLY SEVEN TO ONE. (Excerpt) Read more at heritage.org
