Poll: Nevada Voters Now Leaning Toward Reid (vs Sharron Angle)

Both Candidates Viewed As Extreme, Poll Finds

LAS VEGAS -- Incumbent Democratic Sen. Harry Reid has jumped ahead of GOP challenger Sharron Angle for the first time in the latest Rasmussen Reports poll.

The poll, released Wednesday, showed 45 percent of likely voters favored Reid, while 43 percent supported Angle. Seven percent favored another candidate, and 4 percent were undecided.

Rasmussen Reports said the results show Nevada is leaning Democratic heading into the November election.

Two weeks ago, a similar poll found Angle ahead of Reid 46 percent to 43 percent.

Once considered a goner by many political analysts, Reid has seen his poll numbers surge following a number of gaffes by Angle’s campaign and his own attack ads painting her as too extreme.

That label is now stuck to both candidates, the poll found. Fifty-eight percent of those surveyed said Angle holds extreme views, while 50 percent said the same about Reid.

The survey of 750 likely voters had a margin of error of +/- 4 percentage points.

Angle has to go after Reid to show Nevada how kooky he is, while Dirty Harry has been going negative from day one.

If Harry Reid gets re-elected, the republicans in Nevada need to clean house at the local GOP. I’m serious, the head of the RNC NV needs to be thrown out, anyone working with them needs to be tossed. If they can’t manage to get behind Angle they are worthless and need to be bounced from power.

Remind me again what it means when a long incumbent candidate is under 50.

It gives me the shivers to think he might win again. It has also finally occurred to me that the dems may keep control of Congress in November. Then the end will be nigh.

Wrong!

Rasmussen, "Sixty-two percent (62%) describe the longtime Democratic [Reid] senator as a liberal, and 50% characterize his views as extreme. Forty-one percent (41%) put Reid in the mainstream.">

We were in Las Vegas over the 4th. I was shocked at the constant barrage of ads by Reid that were disgusting. And NOTHING from Angle. Republicans had a sure thing and they are blowing it! Reid is a POS that shouldn't be able to overcome his negatives. His own son won't use his last name in his ads for Governor. WAKE UP NEVADA!

The 45% of Nevada citizens are apparantly typical stupid is as stupid does dems, rinos and gays.

Wrap unemployment, the economy, and deficits around Reid’s neck the way they did Bush.

The two key things to take away are these:

He still can’t get above 45% which seems to be the high-water mark in his polling all year.

He has 48% unfavorables. That means almost everyone who doesn’t hate his guts is going to have to vote for him. Granted, there is bound to be some funny business from the Dems on election day and Angle still has to sell herself better but it is not insurmountable.

Angle didn’t have the money to respond until recently. Consider this. Reid has used millions to run continual negative ads against Angle and now he’s gotten his numbers all the way up to 45%. Angle’s campaign manager announced last week that they now have enough money to respond and you can view their latest campaign ads on her website. You can also make a donation while you’re there as I did today. If you are interested in doing that I will provide the link but you could also google it.

I know this is just me so flame away but I’m not feeling the people’s passion that I felt right after healthcare. I really think we need another Tea Party tour or march on D.C. or something to make us feel united in the next month or two.

We’re fighting horrible monstrous people who will do anything to win, we are going to have to hit them with everything we’ve got.

Hit them with your pocketbook. Donate to her campaign. Money is ammunition. You can’t fight a war without bullets and you can’t fight a campaign without dollars.

Sue Lowden would have easily defeated Reid.
If Sharron Angle loses in November, I am through supporting far right candidates who keep losing. First Hoffman, now Angle, next Hickenlooper wins in Colorado. Sick Sick Sick.

I am sick of losing elections. Losers, no matter how pure conservative, have zero power to change anything. I will only support candidates who can win even if I agree only on 80% of isues.

Is the GOP helping her at all?...or, are they afraid of her because she isn't a RINO?

It would not surprise me at all if some of the old timers, McConnell comes to mind, aren't helping Reid behind the scenes because they only care about each other and their good old boys club.

It is what it is. The moe can cut either way. The most disturbing thing is this is a Rassmussen Poll and the first Rass Poll to show Reid leading. A ham sandwich should beat Reid this year. His opponent has not campaigned well to date.

25% of the vote is democrat fraud. So the GOP candidate has to be winning by a bunch to actually win.

Reid is still a goner.

The GOP makes it's big push right before the election.

If Reid isn't 10 pt's ahead in the polls by then, he will lose.

If Angle is more conservative then Lowden, I am glad she won the primary.

We need to have the most conservative person running, so when we do win, it is worthwhile.

It is a long time before the election.

A Reid bounce was to be expected.

And he’s gotta be fresh from the fight

Are there ANY Republican heroes in Washington??? Come on, guys, save the country now, PLEASE???

That I agree with. However if the person loses it does me or you, absolutely no good, by keeping the rat Reid in power. I would much prefer a person like Sue Lowden over Reid for the next 6 years. I am not in NV but the pundits have said that Lowden had a much better chance of defeating rat Reid, because it would be impossible for Reid to label her as extremist. Angle made a huge mistake by saying she would abolish Social Security as it stands now. I personally prefer that Social Security be privatized gradually.

I agree. It was impossible to sustain the rafe and intensity over healthcare for eight months, particularly when so much of the nasty aspects of this don’t kick in until after the election (by design).

The problem with loose-knit organizations like the Tea Party is that there is not one central figure to unite them and tell them when it is time to march.

Right now is too soon. It needs to kick in after Labor Day to still be strong on election day. But this is also the time when the Tea Party leaders must meet and plan to re-enthuse the voters or the RINOs will pull the chicken switch on us.

IMO, Sarah Palin is the energizer bunny. She needs to be leading marches and campaigning for Tea Party types like Sharron Angle. If she does that successfully, and if she wants it, there will be no stopping her in 2012.

I’m not 100 per cent pro-Palin for 2012 but if she can lead her “Mama Grizzlies” and the Tea Party itself to some major victories, she’ll be a force that the RINOs can’t defeat and the liberals must fear.

Yes, that is what they always say about the 'moderate' they want to run.

Then when the moderate wins the primary, they are labeled as extremists anyway.

The march on D.C. is apparently scheduled for 9/12. I know most of us will be there but Sarah, Rush, all of them should attend and fire up the base.

It’s November or never, I hope they realize that.
