Although widely seen as the Arab world's most democratic state, Lebanon has strict laws created to punish those who insult the president. The office is seen as the embodiment of the republic, although the position of prime minister, presently held by Saad Hariri, is considered more powerful. The four men created a page on the website that carried the title "We don't want a hypocrite as president".

I believe they take turn: if the PM is a Muslim, then the president is a Christian.
Kinda reminds me of that scene in Highlander where Connor Mcleod keeps getting run through with an epee ‘til he finally falls down laughing saying, ‘I apologize for calling your wife a bloated warthog, and I bid you good day.’
Singapore is a little better; it isn’t precisely a crime but the government can sue you back for libel for bad mouthing it in public. It’s not clear to me whether truth is a defense there.
Anyhow, I thought Turkey, not Lebanon, was the more free Islamic state, but Turkey has lately been sliding fast.

Lebanon has the kind of history and demographic where that kind of rule might make sense.Not every country must clone our basic political framework.
