There were no U.S. Navy or maritime coalition vessels near a Japanese supertanker damaged in an incident in the Strait of Hormuz, a Fifth Fleet spokesman said.
Asked if there were any U.S. navy or coalition vessels close to the supertanker at the time, he said: No, there were none close to the ship ... none of our vessels were involved.

It was an earthquake! Yeah! That’s it! An earthquake!
Iran is retaliating for the sanctions by picking off easy targets.
The war is coming....... the breeze has a few gusts.
If a war against Iran is inevitable let it be a war that we wage to win. Yes, wars can be won. Ask Japan and Germany. And Iran is no Japan or Germany.
I think many people have been convinced that wars can't be won any more. They still think of conventional "capture the flag" wars and when no war since WWII has been fought that way, they quickly lose confidence since they don't recognize what a win looks like. The difference between Korea and Vietnam was that in Korea we stayed and South Korea prospered. In Vietnam we cut and run and people told themselves it couldn't be won. Cutting and running had a profound impact on the population and we still live with the scars today and saw them on brilliant display in Afghanistan and Iraq. If winning is possible, people need to know what it looks like.
“A crew member saw light on the horizon just before the explosion, so (ship owner Mitsui O.S.K.) believes there is a possibility it was caused by an outside attack,” Japan’s ministry said in a statement....Oman’s coastguard said there was no evidence of any attack on the tanker and instead cited an earthquake...Al Qaeda had threatened to attack shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, a route used by some 40 percent of the world’s seaborne oil....A seismologist in nearby Iran said an earthquake with a magnitude of about 3.4 happened in Bandar Abbas (IRAN REPORTED)

Off subject but Oil news: BP To Drill 80-100 New Oil Wells In Iraqs Rumaila (I thought President Bush said oil from Iraq would pay us back for taxpayer money spent on the war..am I right or wrong?)Never mentioned.
British oil major BP PLC (BP, BP.LN) and partners China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC.YY) and Iraqs state-run South Oil Co. expect to issue tenders to drill between 80 and 100 wells in the immense Rumaila oil field this year and next year, a company executive said Monday.
You post #5 was cogent on all points.
It seems to me, we aren’t trying to win any war. A win would shut down the vast amount of money spent and people who profit would lose a bundle.
Thanks, I try with sometimes limited success. ;-)
Iran has the same GDP as the state of Alabama but has 5X the population.
