This was posted at 12:42 eastern. Who knows what to believe, but a deal seems likely, despite Rangel's denial.

Wonder what sort of promotion he’ll get, in exchange for keeping quiet.

>> Have that trial.

Trial or “settle out of court”: either way, the fix is in.

The ‘rats will do nothing more than slap his hand (carefully) so as not to give the wrong impression about their end of the cesspool before November.

The deal was no trial, no jail, charges to be dropped eventually.

The worst thing for the Democrats is if Rangel has to testify.

This 'announcement' means he now he has asked for money, on top of everything else. He is 'rattling their cage' by announcing he 'might be testifying, as in the Jesse Jackson type shakedown.

Gimme some mo' money and I'll retire to another country. Otherwise, you all go down with me.

This is the primary reason dems never get convicted, or prosecuted. They've all got the goods on each other, so they dare not 'probe' into another Dems 'ethics' too close.

"The deal was no trial, no jail, charges to be dropped eventually. "

I pointed this out on another thread - but - the House Ethics Committee cannot jail anyone. The "trial" as it is called, is not a criminal proceeding, but an Congressional administrative disciplinary hearing. The committee can only levy fines on its members and recommend expulsion and/or censure to the larger body, nor can the House - in any form - offer immunity to anyone from criminal prosecution, including any of its members.

If Rangel was in criminal jeopardy before this "deal", he remains in criminal jeopardy after this deal - to include being investigated by a federal grand jury and subject to indictment from that grand jury. Of course, we all know that Eric Holder's DOJ will do no such thing. Rangel isn't the right color to merit a criminal tax evasion investigation.

You go, Rangel. Drag the Dems through the dirt. You’ll still get reelected, but you may flip some Dem seats. This calls for some of my stove top caramel popcorn. Mmmm.

Pelosi - OK Charlie here’s the plea deal -

You agree to no trial, and we let you keep your seat.

Rep. Charles Rangel said Thursday there's no deal yet

He wants more money. They haven't offered him enough yet to go away. He's holding out for more.
This is a huge money maker for 'ol Charlie. Either they pay up, or his "trial" buries their campaign message ("Bow down and worship us, and all the free money in the country will be yours").

I guess the new term would be to “Rangle” out a deal.

Nice that criminals can make deals and they decide what the deal is. What a corrupt country where TV protects and supports them.
