Washington, Jul 29 - Republican Study Committee Chairman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement after offering a resolution on the floor of the House of Representatives calling on Congress not to hold a lame duck session after Election Day for the purpose of passing hugely unpopular legislation like a national energy tax, enormous deficit spending bills, and the kickback to Big Labor known as “Card Check.”

This is what we have to do, we have to take stuff like this and keep talking about it. Tom Price shouldn't be on a limb by himself. Shouting what we expect the Progressives/Center for American Progress to do (which the democrats in both houses and the president) until everyone hears us. Talk over the media. Call your reps and write them to join Price and make this a saving issue for our nation.

This is a farce. The OP(formerly the GOP) merely need not show up in D.C. during that time. That don’t need a resolution for this to happen. The RATs will obviously ignore the resolution.

You are right. I think the lame duck session could turn into a leftist revenge session. The devil is running out of time and getting more dangerous.

The American public is not educated enough to realize that Congress isn’t supposed to be in session year round.

I was thinking about that. In the current house rules, how many are needed for a quorum to convene?

IIRC......a majority......which means this ploy would fail.

“That don’t need a resolution for this to happen.”

Price is trying to build momentum - nothing wrong with that.

People forget the WildCard in all of this: the remaining Dems who will refuse to follow Pelosi,Reid and obama off the cliff.
I don’t think you will find many Dems who will be facing re-election in 2012 willing to so blatantly screw the country.

“IIRC......a majority......which means this ploy would fail.”

Which is why the dangers of a lame duck session needs publicity and a public outcry against it.

...to do what???

So long as they hold the majority in the House from Nov. 3 to Jan. 3, the Rats can do as they damned well please and there is NOTHING that anyone can do about it.

But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

I had a buddy ask if the above little jingle meant to just get them out of office; or something entirely different..

Congressman Price’s voting record is ultra conservative and he is a favorite with the Tea Party crowd. IMHO, here is one Repub. who can be re-elected with confidence.

These dims should be forced now to choose between the cliff and being responsible. We need a “bipartisan” TEA Party Bill of Rights along the lines of the Contract with America. With a few basic things like no VAT under any circumstances. Invite all of Congress to sign on and commit. If the dims don’t sign then their Republican opponents can beat them over the head with it. The dims can’t wait to raise your taxes next year. Make the phony blue dogs dims sweat now.

Tom Price is my rep - a true conservative - he has voted consistently conservative, he was vocal against out-of-control spending during the Bush administration, including TARP.

As a doctor, he fought hard against Obamacare - Here are a couple of good confrontations by Price - one to congress, one to Obama himself.
