Should Arizona secede?

Judicial activism is pushing America to the breaking point. This week, a federal judge blocked key provisions of Arizona's immigration law, thwarting the will of the people. The decision was ominous and will reverberate for years to come.

Judge Susan Bolton, appointed by former President Bill Clinton, is a liberal elitist who believes judicial imperialism trumps democracy. Her ruling states that local police cannot check the immigration status of people arrested or stopped for violations of the law. In her view, that would amount to an abuse of civil liberties and unduly burden the federal immigration system. She also stipulated that residents cannot be required to carry proof of legal status.

NRO on 7.7.10 said it best:

"So, we have a Justice Department that drops a case it already won against New Black Panthers who are on tape intimidating voters in blatant violation of federal law, but that sues a sovereign state for enacting a statute in support of immigration enforcement practices that have already been upheld by two of the nation’s highest courts. Perfect."

Now Bolton the black-robed clown in O's three-ring circus.

No. The states need to band together and purge the marxist POS and his administration from our midst. Arizona is as American as apple pie. Obama is as American as Fidel Castro.

“a statute in support of immigration enforcement practices that have already been upheld by two of the nation’s highest courts”

Ah, yes, but federal officials are wise and temperate, whereas state and local officials are racist, hateful, morons.

Standing in opposition to those who would run our ever-changing Democracy (for that is what we have become) are those that would conserve the ideals of a truly unique way of life, a Republic, a Representative Republic, such as the one envisioned by the founders of these United States.

Many aspects of our social, and religious-based beliefs and established mores, our basic economic freedoms may possibly induce so much passion on both sides we might end up fighting each other over which path is the one to take...and we will both claim an absolute moral imperative that we will each consider unimpeachable and without doubt the most fundamental cause...the struggle, of course, will be between those that would impose enslavement to a Marxist collective, that see it as an urgent mission that cannot be put off any longer. We have seen the growing cry for socialism in the country brings us to the point where it simply cannot be ignored.

Slave or free?

Socialists will never forgo their dream of the REAL, complete and total solution in which they so fervently believe because some of us believe that the REAL path to freedom is to pursue our destiny as a republic.

I hope this will not amount to anything but a clash between opposing forces of voters, but it seems like so much more and it seems explosive. It is too deep a disagreement, too fundamentally rooted in our belief in a way of life that we each so totally commit to.

I wonder how third Manassas will turn out?

Should Arizona secede? Thats what the anti president would consider a success, the defrocking of America a state at a time. Kinda slow, kinda painful but as Obama maintains, there is more than one way to skin a cat. Just don’t expect the cat to cooperate!

Agreed. The issue is eventually going to boil into States vs. Federal Government...and my from persepctive, given that some aspects of the Federal Government’s power stems for those powers granted and given by the States, I can foresee some to many States eventually looking to put a serious dent in those granted and given powers.

I’m all for state secession. This is what the Founding Fathers intended. Sadly all secessionist dreams were lost after Lincoln. By the looks of it the only solution to preserve its sovereignty would be for Arizona to secede. A secessionist movement is already active in New Hampshire.

This will get to the Supreme Court and I believe it will be a victory for Arizona.

No matter how you cut it, it's an invasion by foreigners and states are guaranteed Federal Intervention by our Constitution.

It's not like Arizona is usurping the powers of the Federal Government.

Gov. Brewer should withhold all moneies scheduled to be sent to the FEDS. That might get their attention.

Secede - Ha!

Secede, then instant ally with a military pact? If not, you know who coming looking for ‘their property’ back...

This “title” is an elementary school trick applied by the author to attract attention to the piece. Shameful.

Photobucket Nope, first exhaust all legal avenues. Bonehead, partisan decisions like this one come down all the time. I think in the end, even if it has to go as far as the Supreme Court, they will prevail. Never relent.

I draw the line with Louisiana, though.

They still have a ton of their trash from Katrina smelling up our state.

Adjoining States would need to establish a border State treaty to protect the “country” of Arizona from foreign aggression.
