PHOENIX - When SB1070 was signed into law, there were calls from Los Angeles to St. Paul to Boston to boycott Arizona.
City councils, businesses, organizations, and even musicians vowed not to travel to Arizona, because of our stance on illegal immigration. But one study shows, the boycott strategy didn't deliver the knockout punch some hoped for.
The study found that occupancy rates at Arizona hotels are up more than 5 percent in May, and more than 11 percent compared to last year. The state raked in $48 million in tourism dollars.
The boom in numbers is apparently thanks in part to SB1070 supporters across the nation, and a massive PR campaign that was launched to restore Arizona's image.
Buycott success!
Bumping for Great Justice !!!
Yeah and I bet the surge from the bused in protesters helped too.
Only problem they will have to fumigate when they leave.
Why is that a "problem"? Increased business for local fumigators, de-flea-ers, and other assorted nuisance-vermin specialists.
;^)
BYB (Bring Your Business)to AZ is working.
:-)
Refugees from CA, which will eventually sink without them.
Arizona had a hole that needed to be plugged and the tourists took care of it!
On the downside, there are alot of dirty dishes and unmowed lawns.
If it benefits an AZ business owner, I buy it. Amazing how liberals think that a boycott would supercede the power of freedom loving Americans who will spend money that they actually earned.
Bad news for the La Raza, MEChA, and the other Hispanic KKK crowd.
Bet this is not reported on CNN. MSNBC, or even MS Fox News. It would upset their pro-Amnesty agenda
Legislative vaccine is WORKING against the invading disease.
Arizona iced tea is made in NY, sorry.
Can I spread a rumor? Here in Georgia we’re going to pass our own tough immigration law. Maybe even tougher than Arizona. You hear that, Eric Holder?
Stand back, Martha. I just put out the welcome sign for tourists!
..All Your Boycott Are Belong To Us...
Incidentally, there are now RE-ELECT GOVERNOR BREWER billboards that use this very picture. I see one all the time on the I-17 North.
Makes sense. Now its safer there.

The boycotters have been pwned!
On my Route 66 trip this summer we stayed in Munds Park with our R.V. 20 miles south of Flagstaff, one of my favorite American cities.
Went the mountain back round to Sedona, The Grand Canyon, Petrified forrest, Painted Desert. And the San Francisco Reaks are always a grand view.
Thank you Arizona.
I’ll be back.
Ping!
Linda, your artwork is getting out there!
I hope Governor Brewer’s campaign staff contacted you, first...
Try the southern route next time, Joe...just stay on I-10. Take in Tombstone, the Cochise Stronghold, the San Rafael Swell, and Sky Islands of SE Arizona.
We may even be able to spend some time on the Sierra Vista Range. They have a great 500 yd firing line. We shoot from north to south...
Hey, don't forget Bail-Bondsmen!!
I did I-10 in November two years ago on the way to Vegas to celebrate my sons 21st. Been about 20 years but beautiful.
But this time of year it is too darn hot to drive I-10.
This is the time of year I stay home. Do a little diving, offshore fishing, sailing and just wait for a Hurricane.
About Sept 15 I’ll go out and about in the R.V. cause the temp will be a falling and the yuth will be back in school.
We just got back from Maricopa, had a great time. Dropped some $$ in AZ and gladly.
Son and family went west for vacation this year and made a point of staying 2 days in Arizona...He said he was going to tell everyone he bought from that the reason was the boycott.......looks like lots of people thought the same thing.......good...
