Guard troops border deployment delayed

Arizona National Guard troops won't be in position to enforce U.S. border laws by Aug. 1, guard officials said. The department of Homeland Security and Defense announced 10 days ago more than 500 troops would help with border interdiction by Aug 1. It isn't known when any troops will be deployed to enforce border security, a National Guard spokesman told The Arizona Republic.

"We won't have any units deployed by Aug. 1," said Lt. Valentine Castillo, a public affairs officer. "We don't yet know when troops will actually arrive."

U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano previously wrote ... that 524 Arizona National Guard troops would be assigned to the area.

A spokesman at the National Guard Bureau in Arlington, Va., told the newspaper statements previously released about the deployment were "over-interpreted. "In a general sense, Guard members will begin the process of receiving required training on or about the first of August," spokesman Jack Harrison told the Republic...."

Obama got his headlines and this news is like a retraction printed below the fold on page 17.

It was all just another lie from the REGIME.
Everything the REGIME says is a lie.

If they ever put the guard there, it will be a meals on wheels program to feed the poor illegals.

Why did I know this would happen? He lied to Mrs. Brewer about the lawsuit, and now this. When will the people not take this anymore?

Color me totally incredulous!
.
.
Maybe we’ll have to wait until the scientists develop an SPF 300 greaseless sunscreen, before we would want to endanger our troops to the 100 degree Arizona sun: All while our troops in Iraq operate in kevlar with hundred pound backbacks in 115 temperatures!

Same ‘ol, Same ‘ol B.S. that Bush tried to pull.

Face it folks....our borders will NEVER be effectively secured unless American Patriots take it upon themselves to do it.

Am I missing something here?

Doesn’t the Arizona National Guard fall under the command of the Governor of Arizona?

I know the feds can “nationalize” the Guard during times of emergency, but we’re not in a declared state of war. (By the by ... was that state of emergency issued for the H1N1 flu scare ever lifted?)

Governor Brewer has several options here, I believe.

Governor Brewer has several options here, I believe.

Indeed she does, including the Constitutional power of the state under Article 1 Section Ten to "engage in War, unless [having been] actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay."

Judge tosses out Arizona state law? Fine. Arizona then commits state troops to the border and holds enemy aliens within the state as prisoners of war.

You reckon that'd get their attention?
