Last Chance To OPPOSE Elena Kagans Confirmation to U.S. Supreme Court |
Friday, July 30, 2010 |
On Tuesday, July 20, the Senate Judiciary Committee voted 13-6 to send Elena Kagans Supreme Court nomination on to the full Senate for a vote. The full Senate vote on the confirmation will occur the week of August 2nd. NOW is the time to contact your U.S. Senators and strongly urge them to OPPOSE and filibuster the Kagan nomination! As weve been reporting in these pages, on July 1, in a letter to the U.S. Senate, NRA announced its strong opposition to her confirmation. Prior to the Senate Judiciary Committee vote, we ran print ads in Politico, Roll Call, and The Hill newspapers, and ran a nationwide commercial on Fox News and on the Internet opposing Kagans confirmation. Both her political career in the Clinton Administration and her testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee make it clear that Kagan is a serious opponent of our Second Amendment Rights. Last year, Sonia Sotomayor deliberately misled the American people by claiming she believed it was "settled law" that the Second Amendment protected an individual right to keep and bear arms. This year, she proved she never really believed that by ruling against the Second Amendment in McDonald v. City of Chicago. And now, Elena Kagan has used the same phrasessettled law and precedent to describe her view of the Second Amendment in the hearings. It is critical that the members of the U.S. Senate not fall for the same trick twice! You can find contact information for your U.S. Senators by using the "Write Your Representatives" tool at www.NRAILA.org. You may also contact your Senators by e-mail at http://www.capwiz.com/nra/dbq/officials/, or by phone at (202) 224-3121. More talking points from GOA. As a general rule, don't copy form letters.
All the rats, save Ted Kennedy who was too sick, voted for Sotomayor's confirmation. Just about all of those rats who first became Senators after 2006 promised to protect the Second Amendment. Voting to confirm Kagan is going to put them in a bind with this vote being scored by the NRA, GOA, etc.
I hope it works, but I think that Kagan is headed for the Court. Five Republicans have announced for her while only one Democrat has announced against.
IIRC, they are Lugar, Grahamnesty, Snowe and Brown from MA. Who's the fifth pubbie?
Didn't 55 Senators sign up for the amicus brief from the Congress in Heller or McDonald? If Kagan can't get confirmed, she'll probably be replaced by another true believing lefty that also has an anti Second Amendment history. It would be a great precedent that gun grabbers need not apply to SCOTUS.
The fifth Pubbie is Judd Gregg. There are still some ‘Rats who are undecided and I hope that a few oppose her.
what is the vote count now?
Hmmm... Jim DeMint, I need not bother. Linda Graham is a hopeless, traitorous RINO whose new theme song is, "I ain't gay." Gee what a nice sentiment for a sitting US Senator. 2014 is coming Lovely Lindsey. And we're gonna REMEMBER.
five RINO traitors.
one democrat in trouble against.
we need how many? will they filibuster? (no)
