Bill Kristol: Republicans Should ‘Just Shut Up’ About Charlie Rangel
by Glynnis MacNicol | 1:02 pm, August 1st, 2010

I’m not entirely sure this is the sort of support Charlie Rangel is ideally hoping for, but one imagines that after the President not-so-gently makes it clear he would like you to quietly exit stage left, this may be the best you can expect. On Fox News Sunday today Bill Kristol declared that the Republicans should leave Charlie Rangel alone.

I think Republicans would be foolish [to go on about Rangel]. They should just shut up. There’s a bipartisan effort, let the process go forward. They don’t need to jump on this. Believe me there are plenty of congressmen in both parties that have been imperial an arrogant….Demcrats are going to lose the house and suffer the loss of a lot of Senate seats because of their policies, just like Republicans did in ‘05 and ‘06. And I think the idea that Republicans should just go around throwing stones at Charlie Rangel is just foolish.

Meanwhile, on This Week, George Will speculated that the reason Rangel is getting so much more attention than the equally embattled Mark Ensign is because Rangel is more important. Sort of a double Catch-22. Watch Kristol’s segment below.

Spitzer and his disgusting behavior didn’t hurt the Dems at all. The Dems love Charlie because they always know exactly how Charlie will vote...He’s kinda like Teddy the Lifequard.

Bipartisan effort my sweet fanny. BS

Why don’t they go after these crooks and throw them the you know what in jail; and I don’t care what side of the fence they are on?

Kristol is not someone who I care for, but he is right on this. The longer that this drags on and Rangel is in power, the more of an election issue this becomes. Almost every conservative running for election in 2010 will be able to make hay out of this issue.

As someone on another thread said, this may be a set up. With both Rangel and Waters electing full trials rather than making a deal to get a slap on the wrist and forget the whole thing, it could be a set up to get an issue against Republicans in November that they are targeting black members of Congress. Given the way these people operate that is well within the realm of possiblity, and of course if they start to stir that up the media would go full throttle to support it. It would be best to tread lightly on this given the circumstance...although corruption on a greater scale involving Pelosi and Democrats using tax dollars for private jets, payoffs to candidates to try to get them not to run, etc. could certainly be an issue that is used.

Mfffphf...Let me go! Let me go, I said!!!

Oh, alright, then...all I will say is that it is incredibly interesting that Kristol would urge Pubbies to back off.

On the contrary.

Kristol wants it an issue front and center up to the election.

"I think Republicans would be foolish [to go on about Rangel]. They should just shut up. There’s a bipartisan effort, let the process go forward. They don’t need to jump on this."

“it could be a set up to get an issue against Republicans in November that they are targeting black members of Congress”

That’s the kind of thinking that all libtards want us to have, being constantly afraid of the phony race card BS. A crook is a crook is a crook. The evidence is starting to show that the public is seeing through this bait and switch BS.

We need our conservative leaders to “aggressively” go after race card players, call them out, make a big show of how phony they are rather than running and hiding in a bunker. Same goes for the pro wetback hucksters that use the same tactics.

What Charlie Rangel has done is miniscule compared to the REAL crimes committed by Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Holder and the Marxist/ Statist Left in collusion with big business and the social elites. Stay focused on the REAL issues and the Rangel episode will take care of itself. . . . IMHO

Yeah, sure Bill. Can’t be NON-bipartisan, after all. It might upset the “undecideds” and the “moderates.” You know...that huge class of voters which provided victory for John McCain!!!!

Reminds me of when Hastert defended William Jefferson, D-LA. Why? Because he was afraid what they would find in Hastert’s freezer, is it a coincidence that soon afterwards Hastert himself decided to leave?

Prosecute all criminal behavior wherever it leads, Dems or Repubs. Of course, the majority are Dems because Repubs are always under the microscope, which is okay by me, let’s just make sure that microscope is viewing the other side too.

Come on, do your duty people.

No need to shoot a man who is in the act of suicide.

Politically, keep this alive as long as possible for its greatest effect.

This guy deserves his OJ trial.

So Kristol wants us to hold our fire while the Democrats regroup during the cease-fire?
