Mod note: The headline originally read: Fox News to move to Thomas' front-row briefing room seat
The White House Correspondents Association voted unanimously Sunday afternoon to move Fox News to the front row of the White House briefing room.
The seating change was prompted by the resignation of veteran UPI reporter Helen Thomas.
According to Ed Henry, the senior White House correspondent for CNN and member of the WHCA board, the Associated Press will move to the front-row middle seat formerly occupied by Thomas.
Fox News will replace the AP in its former seat, also in the front row, and NPR, which lobbied for Thomas' seat along with Fox and Bloomberg News, will take Fox's former seat in the second row.
The 2010-2011 WHCA board includes representatives from USA Today, Reuters, C-SPAN, the New York Times, Politico, Time Magazine, NPR and the DC Examiner.
Thomas, a longtime critic of Israeli foreign policy, had resigned in late May after a video clip in which she said that Israelis should "get the hell out of Palestine" and "go home" -- to Europe, the United States and other places -- surfaced on the internet.
Liberal groups had lobbied for NPR's placement in the front row over Fox, which one petition called a "right-wing propaganda outlet."
Thee more LibTurd heads that explode the better,
I’m not goin’ there. Ping laz,,, he’ll go anywhere!
WHOA!!! How cool is this???
I go over there I am brave LOL!
Eeeeuuwww... no one else wants to sit where she sat, where her butt was....eeeuuuwwww....
Hope you have a good Hot Water Heater to provide for a real long shower to get clean again. You’re going to need it.
“Eeeeuuwww... no one else wants to sit where she sat, where her butt was....eeeuuuwwww....”
LOL! What’s the problem? HT always wore triple strength Depends!
Associated Press will move to the front-row middle seat formerly occupied by Thomas.
Fox News will replace the AP in its former seat, also in the front row...
Whoever sits in it will draw the ire of the liberal media. Can’t wait. This should be entertaining.
Big deal. They won’t be able to ask anything they should be asking.
Yeah I do
yep - just a distraction
Boy, this will put a knot in Helen’s Depends when she hears about this one.
NPR taking a back seat to FOX. Hah!
Now all we need is Sarah Palin to fill in for Major Garrett the next time he goes on vacation. Or Brit Hume. Or Sean Hannity. Or Charles Krauthammer. Or...
Umm.. That was Megan Fox who was moved to the front row.
This surprises me.
I think the nudge by the voters here...is to allow Fox front-row access to hit on Gibby...which is far more entertaining.
A “Cordoba” seat...
Wendell Goler (sp?) and Major Garrett will do a terrific job. Go to it, guys! And congrats!
given how fnc has been omitting stories to match cnn and msnbc, I am not impressed.
I’d almost like to see that specific seat dedicated to the memory of Tony Snow. He was a great press sec, commentator, speech-writer and an all-around gentleman. I still miss him.
Occupying a seat doesn’t necessarily mean that they will be called upon to ask questions...
probably sounds like someone walking on bubble wrap over there!
This is the right decision. I’m sorry to see the Washington Times move from the 3rd row to the 4th row, but it wasn’t unexpected. They have SERIOUSLY cut back on their news-gathering resources, and from what I understand they virtually never travel with the President. Traditionally, those first few rows always go to news organizations that invest the most in the WH coverage.
“Wendell Goler (sp?) and Major Garrett will do a terrific job”
Sometimes Garrett comes across as being intimidated by the wimp or otherwise afraid of ruffling the feathers of Obamaites or his “colleagues” (enemies) in the dinosaur media. Fair and balanced as perceived by them means being a lumbusco to Obamaites. In English, that is a suck@$$.
OMG They are livid at DU LOL!
OH MAN they are going NUTS over there
It just seem that perhaps Fox news kill the president or something LOL!
It is their rightful place they were next in line as the TOP RATED network.
The headline is a little misleading. AP is moving to Thomas’ old seat (ewwww) and Fox is moving to AP’s old seat.
OH THANK YOU that biohazard LOL!
People I follow on Twitter (for non-political reasons) were trying to gin up signatures on a petition to give Helen’s seat to NPR because “Fox didn’t deserve it.” Snicker.
Liberals cannot handle a news organization that diverts from the Democratic party line even a little bit, unless that diversion is to the left.
Those guys at the onion never stop. Great satire.
He's like a mustard plaster with his questions and would drive Obama nuts from the front seat by just staring at him through those coke-bottom eyeglasses.
I’m glad Fox will be there, but we’ll see how Gibbs treats them. Not long ago Journo-List wanted The FCC to pull the plug on FOX. Just this week everyone was acting like Fox was responsible for Sherrod being fired. Something smells funny here. I know Fox can handle themselves, but we’ll see if they use this situation to try to discredit the network.
You guys are so mean to Laz.
I hope the MSM is so pissed off they can’t even see straight.
Griff Jenkins? He was a very close friend of Tony Snow.
Really? Where's the link to see what's going on?
LOL I wonder how many will get that?
Bwaaaaa! Laz loves it!
It’s a TRAP!
From an anti-Semite to a Nazi.. That’s how the lame stream media will spin it. Actually though, it’s a “uh oh November is almost here, let’s show America we’re fair” move.
Pass the popcorn DU is getting good.
This is just gonna kill the DUmmies.
I bet that gives Helen Thomas the worst case of indigestion... as well as Mr Gibbs.
They should hire Rush, or better yet put Palin on that assignment.
Then watch the Kenyan or is lackey Gomer Gibbs squirm.
