BUCHAREST, Romania -- A 25-year-old Romanian woman who weighed 528 pounds (240 kilograms) when she gave birth to a baby girl more than 5 months ago, has died, media reported Monday.

Relatives of Victoria Lacatus said she died of a heart attack Sunday after developing a high fever and breathing problems.

Doctors from Craiova hospital in southern Romania said Lacatus' heart stopped. Hospital manager Florin Petrescu said doctors tried to resuscitate Lacatus for 30 minutes, a task made difficult because of her extreme obesity.

After she gave birth by cesarean section to a 6.4 pounds (2.9 kilograms) baby girl on Feb. 18, Lacatus gained another 44 pounds (20 kilograms), her sister Cristina Sosoiu told the daily Libertatea. Doctors had told Lacatus to go on a diet but she apparently kept eating, the paper reported.

Wow, there are some nasty, hateful replies on this thread. Horrible.

From pictures I’ve seen of these 500 plus fat freaks, how did she become pregnant in the first place?

We had a dam blow out here in Iowa. I’m sure we could use the corpse of this hog to plug the hole.

I can almost guarantee this lady couldn’t exercise. Being this close to a heart attack and as big as she was to begin with, I’m sure she had problems walking to the bathroom.

“Doctors had told Lacatus to go on a diet but she apparently kept eating”

And they told her this. . .recently? Won't ask if she was breast feeding; and don't want to know about the delivery. Am amazed she got pregant to begin with and actually was delivered - however - of a child.

Surely; there must be some way by now to deal with major obesity - neurons - cell therapy. . .willpower - no matter how infused (hypnosis?). . .something.

I regularly visited a plant where Big Chris worked. He weighed at least 450 but got around ok. He would not listen to anything about not eating. His heroes were professional wrestlers and other big men.

He died at 28 in his basement bed room in his mother’s house. On Friday he was short of breath, on Sunday night he died of heart failure.

They literally had to tear out part of the wall to create an opening through which the body could be removed.
