L. Douglas Wilder is the nation’s first African-American to have been elected governor. He served in that office in Virginia from 1990 to 1994

I didn't appreciate Wilder, attacking his opponent mainly for being pro-life. However, I believe that Virginia has a one-term term limit. So, serving one term on its own doesn't reflect bad on him.

To be fair, Marshall Coleman and his primary opponents Paul Trible and Stan Parris made abortion the issue during their primary.
