LONDON Online whistle-blower WikiLeaks has posted a huge encrypted file named "Insurance" to its website, sparking speculation that those behind the organization may be prepared to release more classified information if authorities interfere with them.
At 1.4 gigabytes, the file is 20 times larger than the batch of 77,000 secret U.S. military documents about Afghanistan that WikiLeaks dumped onto the Web last month, and cryptographers say that the file is virtually impossible to crack unless WikiLeaks releases the key used to encode the material.

This ought to be interesting, ping.
Attack them with a huge denial of service, Pentagon. lol
A Pentagon mouthpiece was on TV today asking (begging?) Wikileaks not to post anymore classified info.
Yet last week there were reports that the NY Slimes went to the White House prior to publishing the initial leaked information and received an Obama/Gibbs-sized shrug of indifference.
Can this administration be any more inept? It boggles the mind.
Is he going to blackmail anyone who tries to go after him with the threat of a release?
Something odd is afoot as I imagine this ‘situation’ could have been managed.
I always thought we had Spooks to take of these things.
too late. the file has been downloaded to hard drives all over the world. All he would have to do is post the password on a bulletin board somewhere.
They'll release it, they can't stand not to. Their just going to try and hide behind "encryption" (Who me? We encrypted that file! Evil hackers un-locked it!!), but the key is probably on their site already, just broken down.
If not, it'll pop up on an anti-American site soon enough.
I'll laugh my arse off if it is blowfish encrypted.
Things are easy to encrypt..

They've all been reassigned to work on finding dirt on Sarah Palin.
Obama doesn't have the cahonees to order such a mission.
HA! You know what, you probably right...It’s probably a movie fetched off of demonoid and encrypted.
Wikileaks doesn’t have the key. They are hoping some hacker can crack it.
They need to rescind the no assassination policy.
I thought about that at first..But what if the file is actually good news for America? They would not chance that.
I have to say that I am not really sure who I am rooting for in this case. I certainly do not want any serviceman to be put at risk. But if true exposure of Zero and the hildabeast are in there...well?
Wikileaks and the shemale wannabe are giving our entire country the middle finger. This goes way beyond Obama and Hitlery.
Do you actually think that Obastard would allow GOOD news to be leaked to them?
It is Obama’s birth certificate and college records with Michelle whitey tapes and all of the Chicago mob corruption files and facts that prove Elvis and Michael Jackson are alive and big foot exists.
all kidding aside now...you have a valid notion.
LOL
If Wikileaks can so easily obtain this info, do you honestly believe that Chinese intelligence and Al-Qaeda are any less capable? Really?
the same hackers that sit in chat rooms waiting to buy dumn Americans credit card/bank info. for 4 dollars?
This should be a big wake-up call (which shouldn’t have been needed in the first place) to the Army and all other US organizations (FBI, etc.) NOT to store sensitive information
on computers; and
in some instances—such as the names of confidential informants, spies, etc.—not to put those names into any written document AT ALL.
No blindfolds. No last meals.
...cryptographers say that the file is virtually impossible to crack -- unless WikiLeaks releases the key used to encode the material.I think this shows that some cryptographers have a great sense of humor. :')
I also do not want to see the Administration (”never waste a crisis”) use this as an excuse to gain some kind of oversight/censorship over the NET.
Believe, me, they want to do it; let’s not shoot ourselves in the foot with an overreaction to hackers.
No serviceman or woman would likely be at risk if it is SOS Clinton back door deals.
Give me a break.
This is happening on purpose. You are witnessing the self destruction of The United States. This is no longer a joke. Do not fool yourself into believing this is all happening sans reasoning.
I live in Georgia. Hunker Down my friends it is going to get catastrophic from here.
If we had the will that server would be a smoking ruin by now.
It’s encrypted photos of Obama’s real BC !!!!!!!!!!
Don’t tell anyone.
Which means that some 15 year old kid will crack it by next week.
Meaning it is most likely POLITICAL and not involving our troops, I hope and pray.
“almost criminal political back dealings”
What could be ALMOST politically criminal?
Negative. Let them go, track the downloaders and go all cold-war umbrella on them.
/johnny
There are guys over at No Such Agency that eat this stuff for breakfast. It will be broken within the week.
Do spooks always wait for orders?
Hope it’s encrypted with 128 bit AES. 256bit, and nobody will crach it for a few billion years without some quantum systems breakthrough.
LOL! I recognize that as the unlock code for the Nintenda Contra game.
What happened to “The need to know”?
PGP is uncrackable even by the CIA/NSA. I doubt some 15 year old is gonna crack it.
I miss Reagan. These releases would have stopped immediately after the computer and person who did it disappeared.
Good point. WikiLeaks prides itself in the Clinton imposed FOIAct.
Castlevania: unlimited hearts, unlimited lives, all weapons. Yeah I was a vampire nut in my early days.
Yeah well maybe the youngin that cracked Palin’s e-mails :)
