GOProud, a Washington-based group that represents gay conservatives, announced Friday that feisty right-wing pundit Ann Coulter would keynote the organizations upcoming Homocon fundraiser party.
Im so tickled that she agreed to do it, Jimmy LaSalvia, executive director of GOProud told The Daily Caller. Think about it: Shes hilarious, shes provocative and, honestly, our folks just love her.
LaSalvia said Coulter was the only person the group asked to headline the party, and she immediately agreed.
Of course Ill do it, Coulter wrote to GOProud when they asked her to join the event. Im the right-wing Judy Garland!
GOProud used that quip to advertise the event, adding, our gays are more macho than their straights! which Coulter wrote in a 2005 article comparing liberals and conservatives.
Coulter took criticism from gay rights advocates in 2007, when she used an anti-gay slur in reference to then-presidential candidate John Edwards. When asked about Coulters past comments, LaSalvia said that he would not give in to political correctness.
This party is about fun. Its not about placating to the PC crowd, he said. Listen, the no-fun police do enough in this world and we want to have a fun party.
The event will be held in New York City on Sept. 25. GOProud would not divulge information about the exact location just yet, but said it would be a surprise.
Not sure what the problem is with this...I don’t have to agree with someone on every issue to ally with him or her on areas of agreement.
This is why I don’t “follow” anyone. Limbaugh, Beck, whoever. My opinions are mine and not tied to anyone elses approval. Human beings are human.
ROTFLMAO. You gotta love Ann!!!!
Even that won't kill my desire to "hit thee" Ms. Coulter. You are still not guilty in my book!
There are certain issues that are deal breakers aren’t there??
Like forcing your perversion on schoolkids??
“I’m the right-wing Judy Garland”. LOL! She kills me. I wish I had her wit.
My problem with it is that it lends validity to a mental illness that is asserting it’s “rights” in American life.
Coulter wants to get paid. If these gay “conservatives” want to pay then go ahead. I’ll draw the line and build a wall if they try to push for gay marriage, however. I’m a social conservative first and foremost. There are some things I am unwilling to compromise on.
Ann Coulter has no fear. Can’t wait to hear some of the sound bites that come out of her appearance. Now that will be FUN. :)
Agreed. Nobody but me represents me.
Well you would have no competition that night.
>> Like forcing your perversion on schoolkids??
And that’s predatory in my opinion.
If I were Coulter, I’d have accepted the invitation. It’s not real likely this crowd looks like the SF Gay Pride Parade.
Hmmm. The gears are turning now. I need to arrange a business trip....Business.... Is Ann single right now, or is she still hanging with the Arab dude?
I’m part of “that crowd” and you’re right. We don’t look, act or think like the gay left. Thankfully. She’s gonna raise a ton of money for them. Conservative gays love her. And they have money too.
If you find someone who believes as you on every thing and every single issue ... Run!!!! *-}

Having different opinion or ‘associating’ with unlikes should be recognized as natural and part of the process of dissecting issues , and realizing we all have our lines drawn that ‘can not be crossed’, as long as adequate and recognized levels of decorum can be maintained.. and they don’t try and rush her like some hooligans,, I say go for it.
I’m sure many here including myself would be more than happy to insure a fair and healthy debate goes down .. and not our faith in the right of free speech.
I honestly don’t understand the “fan” base. Sooner or later there’s disappointment. It’s inevitable. I’ve been married 40 years and don’t always agree with HIM. ;-)
“Agreed. Nobody but me represents me.”
I’ll third that!
Agreed. Either they want your money or you're looking in the mirror.
Exactly, folks should focus on the "conservative" label and not the "gay" label. I don't care who they want to do the nasty with as long as they don't try to inflict their lifestyle on me.
COMPROMISE!
Dear mercy, does no one have standards they hold dear????
If this is true....IF it is true....I truly wonder how long this Republic will last....
Sodom must be enjoying the company...
LOL!!!! Very Good.....
Tell me this is satire....PLEASE.
I have always wondered if any gay Conservatives frequented Free Republic, since I run into a lot of them at PACs and campaigns (granted, this is Chicago, Illinois).
I'll tell you what, though, antonico - I'll give you a nickel for every lesbian that shows up to GOProud and I bet I won't even fork over a dollar. LOL
I don’t have to like this, but I still love Ann. Don’t forget Rush had Elton John at his wedding. I still love Rush too.
I also didn’t like a lot of things President Bush did but he is far and away better than what we have now.
I never did care for her.
I never did either, and this just proves why.
Not necessarily a Coulter fan, but if anyone can handle themselves in the face of any possible adversity, its her.
I don’t believe in conferring rights on a group by virtue of its minority status. Let me tell a story:
A professional acquaintance of mine and I have worked together closely over the past several years. By overhearing a conversation at a social gathering, he surmised that I was a right-winger, and he launched a verbal fusillade at me at the dinner table where 6-8 other people were sitting.
I didn’t respond to his attack, which related to the “heartlessness” of small-government types. Instead, I responded with a question: “why would a gay person be in favor of big government? Just consider the history of the past 100 years...or for a more recent example, do you think that when Obamacare goes into effect, that protease inhibitors (used to treat HIV) with be reimbursed without a million strings attached?”
I caught him flatfooted when I responded to his question to me about support for gay marriage, that I didn’t think the government has any business deciding whether I deserve a “license” for getting married, and that marriage should be privatized.
He later came up to me and apologized. He even agreed with me in a subsequent conversation that he didn’t want to impose acceptance of his lifestyle on anyone...that tolerance is enough.
Probably a lot of gay people are in the same boat as many blacks and hispanics. Their “community leaders” agitate for a brand of social change that they don’t really support. Extra-constitutional majoritarian rule is a threat to minorities. What could be better protection for a gay person or other minority than fidelity to the Constitution?
If the GOProud folks hold these truths to be self evident. . . . and are willing to pledge their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor to defend my unalienable rights, then I welcome them into the fold.
Well the problem here is conferring rights based on sexual behavior...their status as a minority is irrelevant and you've been suckered into a losing argument...
If “marriage” isnt between one man and one woman..it then can literally be anything...
I reject the premise of basing rights based on sexual behavior...and I reject the liberal argument that sexual behavior alone can establish minority status...
I really like Tammy Bruce....she doesn’t throw it in your face.
But Coulters appearance will give them validity. As conservatives. They are not.
My brother is gay. Stayed away from that life for 2 years. Met someone and now he's talking "marriage". Something that he disapproved of before.
They are NOT social conservatives. Engage the sex drive and they are off track and in the zone.
An oxymoron if there ever was one.
The Republican Party is so morally bankrupt they don't understand the meanings of words any better than the Democrats.
On hearing this, Jesus said to them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."
Mark 2:17
There is no such thing as a “conservative gay.”
I think Mary Cheney is a conservative. I don't agree with her 100% but that doesn't mean she's not a conservative.
What about Mary Cheney?
Pulling up a chair and reaching for the popcorn....
Homosexuality is an illness. It is gender confusion. Some may have conservative views but they are not social conservatives. Anyone that identifies their whole existence by their sexual activities is not a social conservative. Who I am is NOT based on how I have sex. It is NOT what defines me as a person. Their illness is the ONLY thing that they use to define themselves.
That hedonist? Hah...
Sorry Ann, you'll have to audition for that title.
Let's hear "Over the Rainbow" on 3, 2, 1...
I’ve said this before, I’ll say it again...not all gays are liberal. No, I am not gay. I do not support gay marriage. I am proudly hetero.
Let me say, though, I used to work with a gay man. He didn’t flaunt his lifestyle...and he was politically conservative. He worked hard for his success, and never EVER “boasted” about being gay or insist on special treatment.
I respected his work, and he was a damn good Republican.
He left the job, and I don’t know what happened to him. But I DID learn that gays were not monolithic when it comes to their politics. :)
Further evidence: we aren't racist, we aren't homophobic, and we aren't bigots.
We are people who want a limited Constitutional federal government. If you're gay and agree, we welcome you. If you're black and agree, we welcome you.. If you're poor and agree, we welcome you.
If you're white and disagree, we'll fight you. If you're rich and disagree, we'll fight you. If you're white collar and disagree, we'll fight you.
And by the way, what ever happened to the Ann Coulter rules?
I don’t expect anyone to agree with me all the time, but if they can’t agree on the things that are most important to me,we have nothing to discuss. And this compromise with evil absolutely repels me. People can call me narrow-minded if they wish, but truth is narrow and I will not compromise it.
Exactly. How does one explain Tammy Bruce, for instance?
We’ve gotta take allies from all sides. William F. Buckley was the consummate example; he helped coalesce our philosophy among many disparate groups. His example (and Reagan’s of course) should be followed. Reagan brought good Democrat voters into his fold...and we should too. He convinced them, I think, that his idea of America was better than their party’s leaders. And he was right. :)
You will notice in subsequent posts that I did not give her a pass. I disagree with her but her choices are hers.
