The son of the U.S. Air Force pilot who dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima in 1945 in World War II has criticized the U.S. administration for sending a delegation to Friday’s ceremony marking the 65th anniversary of the bombing, a U.S. TV reported Thursday.

Tibbets, whose father died in 2007 at age 92, said of the administration of President Barack Obama, ‘‘I know it’s the anniversary, but I don’t know what the hell they’re trying to do. It needs to be left alone. The war is over,’’ FoxNews said.

I know Obama is ignorant of history, shows how much an ivy league education is worth these days, but you'd think someone in his administration would know that the atomic bombs dropped on Japan saved millions of American *and* Japanese lives. Historians agree that an invasion of the Japan home island would have resulted in horrific casualties. There is nothing to apologize for. The loss of civilian lives was regrettable, but so were the millions of Chinese civilians which the Japanese Imperial Army *slaughtered* in genocide (Japan still refuses to admit its guilt on this and apologize), or the hundreds of thousands of Allied prisoners tortured, starved and executed, or the tens of thousands of "comfort women" forced to be sex slaves to the Japanese army, etc etc. Moron Obama is playing right into the hands of ultra nationalistic Japanese who will seize on this as confirmation of US "guilt". Obama you truly have no respect for this nation. You are a national disgrace and should be tried for treason!

Designed by Germans, built by Americans and tested in Japan.

Obama, and I very rarely call him Obama, is a total disgrace to this country! As I recall, he DID bow to the Emperor of Japan!

Oh, by the way, I normally call him Bowrama!

The war might be over, but the surrender is just starting.

“Obama you truly have no respect for this nation. You are a national disgrace and should be tried for treason!”

AGREED!!! (BTW don’t forget Stalin would have come in to Japan from the north, and today we’d probably have a North Japan and a South Japan, just like Korea)

To be totally honest; we as-a-nation probably *deserve* Obama [and those like him] in leadership of our country. What else can you say about a country that sacrifices MILLIONS of its citizens to the god of comfort/convenience? {And, to top it off, prevents the states from protecting those citizens outright.}

>As I recall, he DID bow to the Emperor of Japan!

In that case it was appropriate to bow; in Japan you bow when you meet someone to be polite... however the way he did it was disgraceful and lacking of dignity. {Hell, any “average American” could watch an anime and see how to do it correctly... almost all the “introduce the new boy to the class”-scenes have ‘the bow.’}

>Oh, by the way, I normally call him Bowrama!

Hmmmm....
Bowrama v. Bowman?

He’s too busy vacationing to lay a wreath at Arlington on Memorial Day, but he will cruise on over to Japan to apologize for those evil American that dropped atomic bombs on two cities ending the deadliest war in history. This guy is simply not qualified to lead anyone.

Really?
Can you honestly say that you've opposed such evils as abortion to your fullest ability?
"To the point of the shedding of blood"? [ Heb 12:4 ]

The three decades of wanton death allowed and encouraged by abortion is not solely upon the heads of our 'political leaders,' is it?

I think the anniversary of the Hiroshima bombing and the horror of it should be front-and-center every year, with every US President taking a moment on that day to remind the world that if you mess with the US you’ll get yer s**t burned so bad you’ll still be whining and crying about it 65+ years later.

The only “apology” any US President should give for dropping nukes on Japan is “It is regrettable that the only way to stop mid 20th century Japan’s hegemony was to nuke two Japanese cities into smithereens. We hope and pray that it will never be necessary again.”

we should have dropped the A Bomb on Tokyo and taken out the Emperor and everything else .
But we needed someone who could actually surrender .

They deserved it though

I'd like to offer my personal apology to the Emperor and the people of Japan. I'm sorry we only had two nukes.

Kudos to your dad, Mr. Tibbets

When I was in Japan, thirty some years ago, there were still a small number of Japanese smart enough and honest enough to realize that they owed Paul Tibbets their lives. Among them was my friend “Jimmy”. He figured that he would have died in the invasion. He had been trained to be an antitank weapon. He was to get under an American tank and detonate his satchel charge. Jimmy was eleven when the bombs were dropped. He was just one of the (tens of?)millions of Japanese who were still alive at the end of the war who wouldn’t have been without the bomb.
