What utterly baffles me, is the exceptionally #&*$@ quality of the pictures. I can buy a 10 Megapixel camera at Wal-mart for less than $100.
Example If we were to consider that a 10x optial was unnecessary and went with a 5x instead, we could increase the resolution to 14 Megapixel. With a GOOD clean, sharp picture - we can tell so much more. With IR filters, we can remove disquises like makeup, eyeglasses and masks. We already have the technology, it's already on the market.
This cheap camera has a focus that actually works, and details enough that the suspects face will be ablel to be enhanced and even 3D imaged.
Think how many crimes could be solved if the managment would simply upgrade from the late 1970's Beta-max discount-rack POS cameras, and invest in a camera that actually is useable.
Consider, automatic exposure, automatic white-balance, auto-focus, face detection, high resolution, immune to a magnet being attached to the side of the case - it boggles the mind.

My solution to this potential threat. IMHO, this is the ONLY appropriate response to such a situation:
YOU BE THE JUDGE!

Note to lawfully armed citizens:
This lady did the right thing, stepping on the gas!
It wouldn’t matter if you’re left handed Uzi was in your hand.
You’d be dead if you stayed for the fight.

I would never use a ATM on South Grand. For that matter, I would never be on South Grand for any reason. I rarely use ATMs at all anymore. I no longer carry much cash and if I need an extra $20, I'll select the "cash back" option at the supermarket checkout. On the very rare occasions I need a lot of cash, I'll go inside the bank. You're just too much of a target standing at an ATM machine (especially in certain parts of town).

My bank has a drive through ATM, and for some reason, they have lots of bushes and landscaping around it. It may look nice, but I am afraid to drive through there. Anyone would be such an easy target there, with the vegetation making it impossible for anybody to see a crime happening there.

Yeah I saw that video a few years ago and just last month finally broke down and bought a model of the Judge. I got the Stainless Steel version they call the "Public Defender." It's primarily a backup gun for the wife when we travel by car and I have to leave the vehicle for any reason. Of course we also take our two Newfoundland dogs with us usually, so you'd have to be pretty nuts to jam your head inside my Jeep Wrangler (4 door --otherwise the newfies wouldn't fit) and demand anything. Still, my wife likes to think of herself as protecting our girlz and not the other way around!

I agree with you on the ATMs. I've not used one in ten or so years. Matter of fact, my bank calls me to let me know that I have not ‘authorized’ my ATM card. I simply tell them, so...
The last time I used my ATM was at a restaurant in STL during the the Christmas holiday in 1997. First, I gave my credit card to the waiter. Waiter comes back and say’s the credit card is no good. Therefore I gave him my ATM card with the ‘visa’ logo on it. Well, the ATM card worked.
Two days later, the bank called me at my office to inform me that my entire bank account has been depleted and that I owe them fees for being over withdrawn.
Epilogue: It took me six months, lots of financial troubles, however, I did get all my money back. They caught the crooks and since then, I will never use my ATM card anywhere. I simply cut it up when it comes in the mail.
I pay with everything by credit card or personal check. I keep multiple accounts too in order to lessen the blow the next time some creep tries to steal from me.
Finally: Never, ever use the ATM. Just destroy the card. Else, the card will destroy you.

I pretty profoundly disagree with that statement. She's lucky to be alive. I hate relying on LUCK. In this instance, perhaps SHE did the correct thing, being untrained and more importantly, unarmed but I wouldn't issue a uniform statement that such would be the case in everybody's situation.

If a pistol takes shotgun shells, why doesn’t it count as a sawed-off shotgun?
