It began with one Sheriff speaking with other Sheriffs about their oaths to uphold the constitution. A new movement is growing in this country in support of limited government, constitutional principles, states rights and a stronger role for sheriffs to play against federal abuse of power. In this 3-part video interview with Tony DeMeo, Sheriff of Nye County, Nevada, he explains that he is a Constitutional Sheriff and that authority for public office holders is derived from the people:

In his own words Sheriff Tony DeMeo describes an incident where federal agents of the BLM threaten him with arrest while the Sheriff issues his own threats of an armed response if illegal seizures of private property in his county continue. Imagine if BLM authorities went ahead with their “normal” operations of seizing cattle found on public property in direct opposition to Sheriff Tony DeMeo warnings? We would witness a standoff with dire consequences.

On that you are probably correct as well. If Obama is toast in the elections of 2012 there will be for sure. Nobody I know though is going to simply stand on a street corner with a target on their back waiting for a gunshot from " angry disenfranchised African-American Youths".

The Cartels are just a few steps away from starting a terrorism campaign in the States, the White Hut does nothing to protect our southern border, the White Hut SUES American Citizens for upholding the law, the White Hut calls American citizens terrorists that oppose it’s views.....I would say that’s some of the ingredients for the beginning of a civil war.
Sheriffs have a lot of power they do not use. They can arrest the Feds.

"Disenfranchised mad Americans" aren't going to start any "civil war". You have to have a state or ground to start a civil war from. If Joe Shmoe in Texas and John Smith in Indiana and Bob Doe in Wyoming start shooting at authorities because they are "Disenfranchised mad Americans" nothing will come of it other than bad press for "right wing extremist".
At first reading I would stand with Sheriff Tony DeMeo. What is going in here with the Obama Administration? What have the Democrats done to our Constitution?

What percentage of the population needs to be involved to make it a civil war or a revolution? It seems as though a first shot could be fired and we’d never know because we’d think it’s just some guy who’s had enough of the Feds.

We have battles to fight but they will be in the courts and at the ballot box.
There is nothing new about the Federal gov threatening the use of force against all state and local authorities and all U.S. citizens. It is also not really a new thing that local authorities have pushed back and drawn a line in the sand. Catron county NM is one example.
No. But maybe some Libertarian websites may have some info. I do know that a Sheriff can stop the Feds from unconstitutional actions. And use force against them legally.
We need to find away to support and encourage theses Sheriffs this is one of our tools and the Feds will react strongly against this with propaganda when it becomes a serous problem.
The Local and State authority must join this fight with a winning hand. Let no Conservative politician stand against them.

most of all the idea that government that governs best governs most locally and least. To that end Let the local officials refuses federal interference. Order the Federal officers to cooperate and not confront. We must encourage this! Weaker central government helps encourage and preserve conservative values in the long run.
We know this because liberals make shit-holes wherever they dwell. Therefore we NEED local authority to win this war by example.

I’m talking more about people, and particularly FReepers, who see every misdeed by federal law enforcement as the first steps of “civil war”.
You’re right. It’s not the first steps of civil war, it’s just another act of despotism by an illegitimate government.
They have been demanding documents from the Sheriff regarding a politically motivated racial profiling investigation, and he has stated publicly that he will not comply.
I'm not sure where I read it, but a Justice Dept. attorney was quoted in an article sounding rather flabbergasted about what to do because he was used to government officials complying with their demands.
I want more Governors, Attorneys General and Sheriffs to tell the Feds to F**K OFF!!!!

Yes, he has. I've witnessed the social unrest of the 60s, the trauma of the Watergate Era, the endless scandals of the Clinton administration. All of it combined is a firecracker compared to the stick of dynamite the Democrats seemed hell bent to ignite.
Rather than chest-thumping about civil war, this is what we should be encouraging--massive and widespread nonviolent noncompliance among state and local authorities, resisting federal intrusion into state and private domains.
If thirty states join Arizona, for example, in enforcing the law on illegals, what can the feds do? Arrest them all? Not enough G-men to do it, much less the will to commit political suicide.
Call it Tenth Amendment time. Second Amendment time will come when the civil unrest boils over and the thugs take to the streets.

Not me - Our President has laughed at us, called us names, ignored our needs and wishes. His party claims he hasn’t done enough!! I won’t be civil, I don’t need much more of an excuse to be down-right rude and aggressive.
What President has ever divided us in such a way? When did we last hear all this talk of civil war and revolution? NASA needs to reach out to Muslims??? We can’t go out for ice cream without having to show our papers? What the heck is next with this dividing, inciting fool? It won’t be civil - not by a long shot.
