Bachmann for president?
Politico ^ | 8/5/10 | Ben Smith

Posted on 08/08/2010 3:50:32 PM PDT by pissant

Democratic challenger Taryl Clark’s latest attempt to cast conservative icon Michele Bachmann as out of touch with Minnesota voters comes in a fundraising e-mail seizing on speculation that Bachmann has her eye on the White House:

Bachmann said she would run for president if she felt called to it, and said in another interview that it's not what she's doing "right now" - leaving the door wide open. She remarked recently to FOX News that her supporters want her to run for president. And Bachmann's multiple trips to Iowa prompted Politico to report:

"Bachmann has been receiving a little attention in conservative circles as a potential presidential candidate in 2012. And like so many other Republicans seeking a national profile, an early trip to Iowa, with its first-in-the-nation caucus, provides an opportunity to test-drive her presidential appeal."

I agree. Both Bachmann and Palin have conservative principles that I love, but Bachmann's delivery is more measured and deliberate, her speaking style nmore conversation, and voice more natural and appealing than Palin's screeching.

Bachmann's thought process is more analytical and thus she connects the dots in making her points very well.

Always thought Bachmann was the better commuicator of the two.

Absolutely. Palin skips around too much.

Bachmann is a legislator, not an executive.

We need an executive in the WH.

Bachmann is perfect where she is. She's a fierce debater, good on policy, is ethical, and can push a conservative agenda through Congress better than if she was President. If the GOP wins back the House, she should be Speaker or House Majority Leader.

This is Politico trying to stir up the pot and create a rift between Palin and Bachmann.

Bachman and Ryan would dovetail the ticket very well. I’d flip it around though since I’m a huge Paul Ryan fan because hHe presents his conservative, logical viewpoint on a topic, presents facts, then draws a logical conclusion supporting his argument. Few politicians do this. Most just say, Bush’s fault, four more years, no more ______, and the same old ditzy, nonsensical, meaningless, stupid mantra.

I’d vote for Michele if Sarah decides to sit it out, and vice versa.

I like that ticket, with either one in the driver's seat. I have to admit having heard more from Ryan, and I like it a lot. But everything I've heard from Bachmann also sounds good.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

What a novelty it would be to have two smart, qualified, pro-American candidates on the ticket. And both on the conservative side as prez and veep.

I second everything you posted. I would add that she can think on her feet very, very well and seems to be prepared for the “gotcha” question. Plus, she held her composure against that moldy old gargoyle Arlen Specter, who was incredibly rude to her. She didn’t let him get to her, which was his intent.

Add me as a vote for Bachmann.

Strong, smart, poised, articulate, patriotic; and oh, she’s also good looking. Not much to dislike about Bachmann.

She is amazing. Probably the most conservative person out there at this time. I really doubt she is running for pres in 2012 anyway.
