Even with the 0bama credits, 31k+ for a glorified golf cart. BTW the batteries can only be recharged so many times. When it's time to replace them how are they disposed of or recycled, the cost of replacement and how well would they withstand a serious collision?

I'd buy an opportunity to hit Zero with a pie. But Government Motors will not disgrace my driveway again.

This “car” is the perfect representation of the Obama presidency. It sums it up perfectly.

My understanding is that when the battery is done, the car is done, and they last about 100,000 miles.
I have also understood that the batteries are not recycled. They contain rare and toxic elements that must be disposed of in other ways such as burying them.

While we're diddling around with Obama Motors, the UAW and the Chevy Volt nonsense, India is doing well:
July Car Sales Hit Record
They're worried about capacity constraints and bottlenecks.

The batteries have a 8 year 100,000 mile warranty. The Batteries will be recycled by GM. The Volt passes all Dept of Transportation Tests with flying colors. And the Volt is no glorified Golf Cart. It's one of the most sophisticated vehicles ever for personal transportation. You need to get educated: Please go to:
GM-Volt to learn about the Volt so you know what you are talking about.

It does’nt even have bag racks.

Maybe it should be named Revolt. If you really want to screw something up, get the government involved. I would not own a volt if they were giving them away.

There’ll probably be some wealthy lib and/or academic types who buy one to drive it in front of their friends or co-workers, then they’ll have an SUV at home for their REAL car, for when nobody’s watching.

The Volt is an electric car that carries a tank of gas and an engine with it. Perfect government efficiency.

I will never buy another new GM or Chrysler product; it’s possible I would consider a pre-2008 used GM or Chrysler car but Ford will get all of my business henceforth.
