Lt. Gov. Jane Norton conceded defeat in her campaign against Weld District Attorney Ken Buck for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate.
With 4,115 of 5,458 precincts reporting statewide, or 75 percent, Buck was leading Norton in the GOP primary for U.S. Senate, with 177,617 votes (52 percent) to Norton's 166,955 (48 percent). With about 90 percent of the votes counted in Weld County, Buck was trouncing Norton 76 percent to 23 percent.

I think the final nail in her coffin was having McCain campaign for her a couple of days ago.
Good news.
I consider this a win for conservatives.
Go BUCK GO!!!!!
I think the final nail in her coffin was having McCain campaign for her a couple of days ago.
It sure didn’t help her. Buck ran a better campaign toward the end.
Well, I guess those “dumbasses” in the Colorado Tea Party groups decided to support Buck, anyway. Hated to read today that he’s supports convoluted schemes that boil down to just another way to offer amnesty to illegals.
But I hope he’ll still be better than the Dim.
Great News! I was hoping Buck would win. The best news out of the night.
McCain’s choice for Colorado House seat 7, lost two to one to Ryan Frazier tonight.
This should produce some popcorn threads around here. Norton was endorsed by McCain but Buck called birthers, “dumba**es”
Great news, thanks for the post.
Buck inserted his foot firmly in his mouth a few times in the past few weeks, but he is still hands down better than Norton. And either one would be better than Bennet.
People who keep asking him over and over again about Barack Obama's birth certificate ARE dumbasses.
I have no problem with people subscribing to conspiracy theories (some conspiracy theories have to be true, right?) but let's get real here.
So hwo will be the first to post a picture of Jackie Gleason.
Was calling birthers dumba**es a foot in mouth moment or a moment of clarity?
Ryan Frazier is a good candidate. Frazier, Allen West, and Tim Scott will kick bootie on the Congressional Black Caucus.
“I have no problem with people subscribing to conspiracy theories (some conspiracy theories have to be true, right?) but let’s get real here.”
So people who want to see Obama’s proof of being a natural born citizen per the Constitution of the United States are not real?
YEP.
When I saw that I UNFriended her on Facebook. Damned RINO.
Now, Lord, PLEEEEASE... can you do something with McCain?
I voted against this RINO in the mail-in ballot over two weeks ago. McCains endorsement just made me say YES!!!!
Probably both.
I’m with you.
Birthers are just looking for a magic “History Eraser” button.
Ain’t gonna happen.
Just HARD WORK will remove this communist.
Palin dubbed Norton one of the mama grizzlies, conservative women who would help restore the country, but failed to endorse her campaign.
Oh no.
When you hope for change, you’ll buy into anything..
Ditto that :)
Do they think Buck is hiding a copy of Obama's birth certificate in a lockbox?
Personally I find the link between the alien landing at Roswell and the "birth" of Alien Gore to be more convincing.
“People who keep asking him over and over again about Barack Obama’s birth certificate ARE dumbasses.”
Agreed, two more years and then OUT!
Did Palin endorse this guy? Is this a “W” for her?

You can't win 'em all Norton.
Thank God! I can’t vote here in Colorado due to my home-of-record being in Florida (and I wouldn’t ever want to pay Colorado’s taxes, registration fees, etc), but I awaited anxiously as Norton blasted Buck in all forms of media relentlessly. But she pulled the wrong strings by having McCain campaign on her behalf and going after Buck for not prosecuting a Rocky Mountain Gunowners member and gun dealer maliciously under Clinton’s notorious gun laws back in the day.
“Do they think Buck is hiding a copy of Obama’s birth certificate in a lockbox?”
Obama may very well be a natural born citizen. I just want to see the proof. No more no less. Just upholding the Constitution.
I don’t believe she endorsed either candidate in the Senate primary
Even more reason to like him. :-)
You jump upon a minor point. It was a big disappointment to learn today that Buck supports McCainesque amnesty double talk and paths to citizenship:
http://durangoherald.com/sections/News/2010/08/05/Ads_hit_GOP_candidates_on_immigration/
I guess Buck is preferable to the Dim Bennett, but it was strange to learn the Tea Party favorite is an amnesty pusher who pretends it’s not amnesty.
The Durango Herald has got it wrong. Buck is against amnesty. I know Ken Buck, and just spoke to him not two hours ago, in person, face to face.
Now, on to throw Bennett out on his kiester come November.....
...Norton spun lots of facts around the last few weeks as she saw her lead slip away...
...then she had the "bright" idea to bring McCain to stump for her.
That was political suicide here in Colorado where voters FINALLY are "getting it" with philosophies.
November will be Colorado's chance to ask for a refund for all the "change" we've endured from Obama and his ilk.
Demint bump
That's good news for the country and so too is a Buck win.
Well, I'm far from Colorado and hope you're right, but that paper presents Buck's statements in quotes, statements which sound as if they might have been copied from John McCain. I guess we'll have to wait and see if he makes it to the Senate and the amnesty for illegals issue is still around.
I hope we don't see him huddling with McCain and Graham and Reid and Obama on the amnesty issue in 2011.
can't wait for a republican to pick my pocket, ( so much better than when a democrat does it)
....... and its so important which politician robs me and imposes more laws against me !
I am so much happier when a republican screws me ! [/ angry cynicism]
Another Conservative win over RINO!
does he support amnesty?
If he huddles with Reid in 2011, he'll have to do that in Searchlight, not in DC!
Illegal immigration is what caused this. Weld county is under heavy onslaught of Illegals. Norton was endorsed by McCain and therefore people did not trust her to hang tough on the issue (though I believe she would have done fine).
McCain's endorsement is the reason she lost statewide.
God bless John McCain, but he is not a fighter (yes, I know, a long time ago he was, he's a people-pleaser who wants above all to be loved.
Ryan Frazier wins big in CD-7 with 64%. Look out Ed Perlmutter!!
O.K. Colorado FReepers, give us your honest take on the General Election. How’s it looking for Buck to take Bennet’s seat?
I prefer Tancredo's policies over Maes or McGinnis (too close to call right now), but I'm ticked that he jumped in the race third party.
Even more reason to like him. :-)
Yeah, Buck instantaneously went into back peddle mode for being "the dumb@ss". Too bad after-Birthers.
Buck regrets disparaging Tea Partiers (CO Senate)
"Buck campaign spokesman Owen Loftus told POLITICO that the candidate spent Sunday explaining and apologizing for the remark in interviews with the state's two dominant news outlets.
