IMHO, that’s all the more reason to get on that stage, and fight. Why would you back down from a public opportunity to point out one of your candidates is a possible child molester? That’s an easy target - Barnes and Obama would be much tougher.

I am not aware of any other debates, only the run off debate.

I believe the debate with Deal gave insight to the real reason she refused to debate the others. Some of you who saw it know what I mean.

There were no good choices yesterday. The Fulton County bureaucrat with a nasty negative campaign who lies about supporting the Log Cabin Republicans versus the 17 year former democrat congressman. It was not an easy choice and I finally decided based on personnal references from people who had dealt with both. They were overwhelmingly for Deal.

Will I vote for Deal? Betcha not.

In November you get the McCain Quandry. Do you want to go back to Governor Barnes? Gonna sit this one out or vote 3rd party?

“Deal had already said he was resigning long before this report (it was in the news). He changed his mind and stayed on through March ...”

The point is that Deal did not have to worry about the findings of the OCE report (six ethics charges) because he knew he was resigning from Congress.

As for those who claimed that no taxpayer money was involved, Deal’s company had a no-bid contract under a $1.7 million state program to inspect severely damaged cars before allowing them to be put back on the road legally. Deal allegedly lobbied to have the program continued after the state office overseeing the program wanted it terminated because it was deemed cost-ineffective.

“Handel ran a vicious, negative campaign and trashed her fellow Republicans, ...”

I agree. However, on the Sunday before the runoff election, Deal was asked point-blank if he would endorse Handel if she won. Deal refused to do that. It was widely rumored that Deal would run as an independent if he lost the runoff, thereby handing the governor's office to Barnes. That sounds like a guy who cares more about his personal ambitions than defeating the left.

“Handel's career has all been in Atlanta metro and post-dates the country Democrats”

Handel won as a Republican in heavily Democratic Fulton County. Fulton County is as about as Blue today as Hall County was 30 years ago (with obvious differences in ideology).

Don’t hold your breath waiting for me to defend Deal. I just think his steaming pile of crap smelled a little less rancid than Handel’s. I don’t blame Eric Johnson for refusing to endorse either one. He would likely be our next governor if a bunch of out of state busy bodies had kept their noses out of it.

I will hold my nose and vote against Barnes (not for Deal) in November. I just hope Deal remains unindicted.

Now we all have to bury our differences and make sure that King Roy stays in private life where he so deserves to be.

Amen, AAM.

All the folks going on with the after-the-whistle crap need to put a sock in it. It was a campaign. Campaigns are ugly. Then they have to end.

Handel is supporting Deal now and that's more than good enough for me. I voted for Handel twice, but I WILL crawl over broken glass to vote for Deal in November. The most important thing is beating Barnes like a rented mule.

YEP, she did. And what does that tell you about who was supporting her? There aren't that many Republicans IN Fulton County.

Atlanta has a not-so-proud history of crossover voting.

It is a quandry. I may sit it out or vote Liberterian.....another unpleasant choice. Deal just really bothers me and I cannot vote for him. If Barnes were to win I guess I could stomach it. There would probably be gridlock. Not a bad thing. The good old boys, lawyers and lobbyists from both parties have run this state for over a hundred years!

You're going to assert rumor as fact?

Not during a primary runoff. Rumor is not fact, it's often started by the other side. And nobody is going to talk about losing in a hotly contested race, at least unless they're sure they're going to lose.

Agreed - folks should have made all these points BEFORE the elections if it meant so much to them. Several of us were asking for this info at one point.

NOW the arguement do nothing but give our enemies talking points.

Unite or Die :-)

She’s smart-—come back to fight for a spot in the future.
This class and proper act will serve her well-—at least in conservative circles.

Why, then, didn’t Deal pledge to support Handel if she won? To decline to do so spoke volumes to me about the kind of politician (and “Republican”) Deal really is.

Why should it matter in the race for Georgia Gov whether it will have a positive impact on someone who may run for something somewhere else in the future?

Great news! Perhaps she can work for planned parenthood. She does like to give them financial assistance.

Not familiar with local aspects of GA races. Is this a good thing? I heard that Handel was rather RINOish. Is Deal more conservative?

Handel only had a chance with the ‘female’ vote. Sarah backed her and the gays loved her. She also backhandedly helped planned parenthood. She had no vision and no real plan. Maybe if she went to college she could have had some ideas of her own.

Deal is real. I have worked with him and his office for years. Always polite and willing to help. This BS about ethics is trumped up and designed only to throw dirt on Nathan. Where are the Grand Jury charges. Take a close look at who is instigating the accusations and you have democrats written all over it.

Just my opinion and I don’t get paid for it.

No, I don’t think it’s good campaign strategy to promise to endorse another candidate until the proposed endorser is clearly out of the running. It’s like an admission of defeat. I don’t think that speaks volumes about anything much.

Afterwards, it’s gracious to do so, and I’m glad that Handel did.

Do you know Deal at all? Personally, I mean. I don’t, but I have some political contacts in NE GA that I trust and know to be honest and good people. One of them I’ve known for over 30 years, both as a lawyer and a judge over in Clarkesville. They all backed Deal, and the consensus was that the “ethical” issues were largely noise. Given that the ethical accusations against Johnson proved to be wholly false, I’m not surprised.

But I think it’s time now to quit bad-mouthing Deal (and Handel, for that matter) and get behind the campaign to defeat King Roy. All you’re doing now is providing fodder for his campaign.
