. . . As he waited for help to arrive, one of the motorcyclists he'd been chasing returned to the scene, Pratt said. The motorcyclist parked across the street, approached the mangled patrol car on foot, then laughed and clapped at the trooper before speeding off. . . . Picture at the page.

Investigators believe they have the motorcyclists' registration information, Pratt said, and they are searching for the two people. The trooper may have the last laugh?

A guy comes back to see if the trooper is seriously injured, and the cop makes up a story to deflect attention away from his failure to maintain control of his vehicle. Who is the paid professional here? Who wrecked the tax payer's car?

A while back we had some plainclothes cop that didn’t identify himself as such come at a motorcyclist with his weapon drawn.
The cyclist put the helmet video up on youtube and got in big trouble for it.
This trend of citizens being prevented from videoing LEOs is disturbing.

It used to be that cars handled better. I remember an article in, I believe, Car and Driver or Road and Track had back in the 1970’s comparing a Kawasaki KZ1000 with a Trans-am.
The Kawasaki blew away the car on the straights, but the Car took the corners better.
I think the cornering part has reversed in the last coupe of decades.
Also, If you’re gonna outrun the cops, you have to do it in the first minute or so. I’ve done it once, but would not try it again.
The returning to the scene was just sick. The cop is just doing his job. They need to nail these little pukes.

No, it hasn’t reversed. That’s because the bike loses its advantage in the curves because it can’t risk a little drift that the car can enjoy to keep speed up.

I count at least 5 bikers there on scene. Whats with that?Well, most of the motorcyclists I know (myself included), would stop to assist if finding a LEO in trouble. Having said that, there's many in our world that would not.

Once you’ve been caught and the cop has his lights going, it’s YOUR responsibility to stop and take your medicine!
Fleeing to avoid citation or arrest is an additional crime, due to the increased risks to all, as noted in this story.

Most departments will not allow pursuits of motorcycles simply because of the liability involved. Police accidents that kill innocent bystanders generate millions of dollars in tort claims each year.

Just more proof that Law Enforcement relies on the support of the community, and relies on the compliance of the public to do it’s job. I was telephoned by the HWY patroll fundraisers, he was actually a trooper. I told him not a dime as long as they are in the business of confiscating property without trials.
Probable cause matters.
Property crime matters.
Respect of private property matters.
Law Enforcment needs to be supported by the community. Without that support they can find themselves by themselves trapped in a broken car that tax payers purchased.
Sounds like officer friendly should have stuck with pulling over Grandma in her mini van, or gunning down unsuspecting perps at Costco.
