Islam has always been part of America

Yep. It goes back to the days of the Barbary Pirates. The Marine Corps hymn is a reminder.

From what I can tell, there was essentially no Muslim presence in America before the 20th century. So much for “always been a part of.” There were isolated Muslim individuals, probably some west African slaves, sold into slavery by their co-religionists. Skip to the 19th century, and there’s that famous “shores of Tripoli” incident referenced in a favorite American song. Skip to the present, and there are the Muslim contributions to America we are all too painfully aware of.

I really don’t understand all of the ass-kissing of Muslims done by western politicians — unless they are operating by the fatally-flawed logic that Muslims can be swayed by flattery, or they are simply scared of them.
