Thanks- I don’t mean to supersede the original post; the woman’s comment hit absolute home with me, so I decided to post it. All who view this please use txhurl’s link above, also.

I was in DFW months ago when I think American Airlines people were greeting soldiers plus people in the airport ran over. About 100 people clapping and cheering. It was tough keeping your eyes from tearing up.

Nice job by GW and Laura.

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2010/08/george-bush-laura-bush-uso.html
“”Former President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, made a surprise visit to U.S. troops this afternoon.

They showed up unannounced at the USO in the Dallas-Fort Worth airport. There they mingled with the soldiers, thanked them, chatted and posed for photos as proof of the unexpected encounter for folks back home.

The USO just posted an assortment of the photos on its Facebook page, which quickly drew a growing list of appreciative comments.””

Almost all of the comments at the latimes.com blog are very positive and supportive of President Bush.

Speaks volumes about the current occupant of the WH.

Well, a good time, all, to donate to the USO:

https://www.uso.org/donate/custom.aspx?id=2041&;

-your money provides for the above mentioned, buys a soldier a phone card, etc.

Throw ‘em a twenty:)

Oh, no, the more the merrier!

Wish he’d come to Georgetown, or Round Rock, or Killeen.

My jangled nerves just need to hear him and see him.

We Texans had 8 + 8 years of his spiritual strength, having it ripped away by some American hating parasite leaves a pretty big hole.

GWB had that shirt on several seats in front of me at the Rangers/Yankees (spit) game. At DFW, they “bless” the planes with returning troops with two giant hoses on either side of the plane. Not sure if this is tradition, or what have you, but it is very cool.
BTW, GWB got a Standing-O at the game. Where else in the country would that have happened but in Dallas - third largest metropolitan statistical area in the country, home of the cowboys, and the future capitol ;)

I attended the TX Ranger vs NY Yankees' game in Arlington, TX Wednesday night... Mr. & Mrs. Bush attended the game and sat next to Nolan Ryan for the whole game.

He got a good cheer from the crowd when it was announced he was in the stadium and showed on the big screen.

Good stuff... plus my my Yankees had a come from behind win... way to go Sandman... put the Rangers to sleepy-sleep ;-)

There was a pic and story about Dubya a couple of days ago with him in Haiti helping the earthquake victims. The same day Zero was out on the trail telling people that we can't have the "keys" back because we don't know how to drive. Course his wife was doing "charity" work in Spain with the King at the time.

No contrast there.

I don't agree with him on immigration.

I don't agree with him on spending.

I don't agree with him on "bipartisanship".

But he was a great wartime leader, he had (and has) a lot of class, is a gentleman, a Christian, and genuinely loves his country.

He brought class, dignity and gravity BACK to the office of the Presidency (from which it has SINCE fled) and he is, by all accounts, a good person.

This picture does not lie. Imagine the cold Son of a Bitch who now occupies the Oval Office displaying genuine human emotion like this:

With all I disagreed with him on, I sure do wish he were still the President. Yep. I miss him now.

Hm, President Bush is holding up well. He’s looking a lot younger since 2008 while Obama is looking a whole lot older.

Your words..and especially that picture sum up my thoughts exactly. There was no ‘scripting’ of this man. Everything he did was so we wouldn’t have to hold motherless young ladies like the one in that photo ever again. I miss him, too.

From what I understand, he and Laura greeted homecoming soldiers at the Dallas Airport. I think they came with a children’s group, but of that part, I am less than certain ; }

God bless,
Tatt

Onto more important news other than greeting America’s fighting men and women:

After a heck schedule today of three meeting mac daddy will end his day a 12:00 P.M. to relax and complete plans, at tax payers expense, his 100 vacation this year and enjoy his 200th round of golf.

Upon his return as the squatter in the whitehouse he must prepare himself, at the tax payers expense, for his 150th gala whitehouse party to be followed closely by a much need, at the tax payers expense, relaxing vacation.
