Posted on 08/12/2010 12:48:04 PM PDT by TitansAFC
California Republican U.S. Senate candidate Carly Fiorina has increased her lead over Democratic incumbent Barbara Boxer to five percentage points according to a new CBS 5 KPIX-TV poll released Thursday, which also shows gubernatorial candidates Democrat Jerry Brown and Republican Meg Whitman in a dead heat.
The CBS 5 poll, conducted by the research firm SurveyUSA, showed Fiorina edging Boxer 47 percent to 42 percent, compared to a CBS 5 poll one month ago showing Fiorina over Boxer 47 to 45 percent.
The poll results indicated Fiorina's support was essentially unchanged among men and women, young and old, white and Hispanic while Boxer had lost small ground among men, younger voters, and independents.
11% undecided or other candidates?
Let’s start a pool to guess when Babs will announce she’s leaving politics in order to “spend more time with her family”.I say October 1.
If she loses the Carly, the military men who put their lives in harm’s way to protect her soft, flabby, pampered hide can go back to just calling her “ma’am”.
One of the most disgusting and embarassing displays of self-congratulatory, narcissistic hubris was Barbara Boxhead dressing down a general for calling her “ma’am”, insisting that he address her as “Senator”.
By God’s grace, that jerk won’t be a Senator after Jan 20, 2011.
Not a fan of Carly, but I hope she wipes the floor with antiquated Barbara. Better yet, I hope she grabs her wig and wipes her a$$ with it.
Still too close for comfort. Remember the sage words of talk show host/author Hugh Hewitt...”If it isn’t close they can’t cheat.”
Boot Boxer!!! I could care less if Fiorina is a RINO
Wow, this is from left-wing KPIX. Boxer is in real trouble.
Oooh, let me put on my prediction hat... I predict that in September, Diane Feinstein will go around and spout off a load of uber liberal stuff, make outlandish statements, and all around make herself look about as unstable as possible, as well as drop hints that she won’t be running for the Senate again.
Barbara Boxer, who pulled the same stunt to save Feinstein’s seat last time, will speak eloquently about all the incredible needs and challenges that California faces, and how she’s going to redirect her energy towards meeting those changes, which is all the more important now that Feinstein will be leaving with all her experience and knowledge...
Will the voters buy this wooden nickel again? Donno.
Drat it all! We’ve gotta stop this NOW. Let’s start a conservative third party, and split the conservative vote!
LOL! I second that.
I have been saying this for MORE than a Year now and it’s been in my TAGline for that long.
2010 will be a Political TSUNAMI.
100+ seats will change over.
This isn’t 1994 with 54 seats. It will be TWICE that.
The sad news is, we have a shit load of RINOs who will win too....
We need to be READY to press them HARD and EARLY.
But mark my words.... STUNNED will not even come close to describing the atmosphere on election night.
Every single leading race, the GOP wins.
Every single LEANING race, the GOP wins.
Every single TOSS UP, falls TO the GOP that night.
HALF of the Leans Dem, FALL to the GOP as well.
And a couple of SURE DEMS will be unemployed after the recounts!
T S U N A M I !!!
DEMOCRATS ANNIHILATED IN ELECTION HOLOCAUST! <-— Headline Wednesday Morning.
Gargoyles everywhere are in panic mode!
Are you??? LOL!
Ms. Boxer, Ma’am does this mean we won’t have to call you Senator Boxer any longer. Sounds good to me!
It will be really fun to see this poor excuse for a senator gone from the Senate.
Your post is the only one that I have seen that accurately describes what is about to happen. It will be a bloodbath.
I’m sure I have read here that it was all over for Carly.
The RINO corral is going to be pretty full soon. So many that Meet the Press, Disgrace the Nation etc. won’t know which RINO to choose to “speak” for the Republican Party. A lot of “reaching out” will be going on soon.
Even if the scenario came to pass, the MSM wouldn't make that their headline. They'd be in full spin mode... more like
I’m not a Fiorina fan, either. But she’s a heck of a lot better than Boxer.
Because Stalinist Boxer is better than any RINO? the hell you say...
We have to be realistic. A rock-ribbed conservative would not stand a chance in that part of the country (at least not yet). Carly is a damn sight better than Boxer for sure.
Boxer is as dirty as they come. Every election there is an "October Surprise", but this time Boxer is going to empty her bag of dirty tricks. Do not count her out until somebody drives a wooden stake through her heart.
Box of Rocks could be going down.
Won’t it be a hoot if all these GOP candidates start to peak at just the right moment - say around Halloween Oct 31st ?
My son turns 18 on Friday and can’t wait to register to vote against the check bouncer.
Rachel, I agree.
>A rock-ribbed conservative would not stand a chance in that part of the country (at least not yet).
Exactly. Say what you will about the looney left, they have been remarkably patient in taking small steps to achieve their goals.
This is how we have to take the country back from them. - Small steps.
On what issues is Fiorina out of line with most conservative Republicans? Granted, she probably won't be as conservative as Tom Coburn, but I don't see why should be considered an Olympia Snowe Republican.
Anytime we can send a DemRat packing, it is a good thing. I view defeating a ‘Rat as a positive act, another vote for organizing the Senate in our favor. Giving a radical liberal like Boxer the boot would be especially gratifying.
I wish I could be excited about this.. but Fiorina is such a bad candidate... yes the R’s will pick up a seat and getting rid of Boxer isn’t bad.. but this gal is just going to wind up stabbing conservatives in the back sooner or later, and its truly a sad state of affairs that this is the best that the entire state of California could come up with.
She’ll win with the anti-boxer/democrat vote that will be there this fall, but she’ll be an easy takeout, with only incumbency being behind her in the future.
Fiorina needs to be leading by 10 points or better to eek out a win - California Democrats can easily erase a 5 point margin.
You are right about how dirty that little yenta is. I remember what happened when Bruce Herschenson looked like he was beating Boxer 12 years ago. Don’t underestimate how rotten Bob Mulholland and the California democrat operatives are. I am praying for Boxer to go down, but I have my 5 gallon barf bucket ready for action.
Booting Boxer is a big plus.Fiorina, coming from the business world, doesn’t appear to a socialist....but with politices you never know.
If we had ANY kind of leadership like 1994 did, we'd see 250 seats.
Oh, be still my heart!
HURRY UP NOVEMBER
With fraud, Boxer is up by 10 points.
I for one have stopped falling for CA and NJ polls.
Each election cycle polls indicate GOP is tied or ganining, and then after votes are counted Dems win handily.
Bush almost lost the first Presidential election because he got caught in CALIFORNIA-POLL-TRAP and in final days, ended up dropping critical 5 million dollars in CA - ones he should have dropped in FL.
Oh well, that’s past history. With the fear, pain and suffering out there, anything is possible.
I just want to win this November, and give that big-eared, incompetent, smarmy elitist buffoon in the White House the biggest b-slap we can. I'm tired of losing elections. We need to give the 'Rats a taste of it. As many 'Rats as we can beat, I'm all for it.
Sarah Palin endorsed Carly. That’s good enough for me.
Whatever happens in the senate, the house will be Republican after Jan. 3, and could and should defend by defund. I look for a major logjam to last until 2012, when we dump more dims from the senate, and toss out a bunch of RINOs as well.
Allen West for speaker in 2013, Jim DeMint for senate majority leader, 2011!
Sorry, but I blindly follow no persons “endorcement”.
Its not an if she will screw it up if elected, just when... much like Scott Brown. This one is predictable as rain, conservatives banking on her to be a conservative, especially after her record of failure professionally are dilluding themselves.
She’ll win, the anti dem/boxer movement is too strong, but she’ll disappoint, and get an easy take out target down the road.
Interestingly, in this poll Fiorina gets 27% of the black vote. This seemed surprising to me considering McCain got 5% of the black vote nationally, and perhaps less in CA I’d guess.
It all depends upon what bar you set for a tsunami, but I am basically in your camp.
I could see 75 seats switch to the Republicans and as many as 8 Senate seats. The Republicans will take over the state houses of nearly 3/4 of the US population.
Many Republicans will be disappointed when the Republicans don’t take control of the Senate. What has gone without saying, though, is that the Dems owe their 60-seat advantage to blood baths in 2006 and 2008. The 2004 elections were actually quite kind to the Republicans, and for this reason there is only so much progress that Republicans can make in this cycle vis-a-vis the Senate.
But if the Republicans can take 8 Senate seats, grab one defecting Democrat, and get Lieberman to caucus with them, then the future becomes bright once again — for the simple reason that in the next two cycles (2012 and 2014) there will be so so so many vulnerable Dems up for re-election.
And with so many Republican governors, the prospects for both redistricting and elections for the next decade look ever brighter.
American voters made a breathtakingly serious mistake in 2008. They will unwind it with a vengeance!
We will take the Senate.
Oh, I would not compare her with Snowe (who as far as I’m concerned might as well belong to the Democrat party). But she is not a conservative as Coburn either. I guess my point is, she is probably as far to the right as one could hope for and still have a chance against Boxer.
