American Observer recently created a video to show the record job losses since Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Harry Reid took over Congress in 2007. It’s not a pretty picture:

This should be a GOP campaign commercial, not the work of the American Observer. It is good that someone is doing this, but it needs wider play.

If you plot the periods of Democrat and Republican control of Congress against historical unemployment and stock market charts you will see some very interesting correlations.

In January 1995, the Republicans took control of the House and Senate. Unemployment was at approximately 6.25%. The Dow Jones Industrial Index was at approximately 3,800.

The Republicans controlled both houses of Congress until the end of 2000. During the period from January 1995 to December 2000, unemployment dropped from 6.25% to approximately 3.75%. During the same period, the Dow rose from 3,800 to over 10,600.

From January 2001 until the end of 2002, the Democrats either controlled the Senate or it was split 50/50 between the parties. During this period, unemployment climbed from 3.75% to approximately 6.5%. During the same period, the Dow dropped from 10,600 to 8,300.

From January 2003 until the end of 2006, the Republicans again controlled both houses of Congress. During this period, unemployment dropped from 6.5% to just over 4%. During the same period, the Dow rose from 8,300 to 12,300.

In November 2006, the Democrats took control of both houses of Congress. In the same month, unemployment was at 4.3% and the DOW was over 12,500. Since then, the Democrats have continuously held control of Congress. Unemployment has continuously climbed and the Dow plummeted.

Imagine what the MSM would say if there were such a perfect correlation between CO2 and global temperatures?

Thanks for the well put together data.

Here’s something to have in your back pocket when discussing this with liberals.

When you present the data and a liberal says the data is not compelling enough, just tell them that there is less correlation in the data that supports Global Warming and liberals have no issue believing those numbers.

Almost nobody ever mentions the fact that the dems have had Congress since 2007. To the MSM and the left, these are still the “Bush years”.

The GOP seems to NEVER hit on this. They go after Obama exclusively. They talk about how bad things have gotten in 18 months. The left then counters that things started going bad before Obama...during the “Bush years”.

Truth is, the left has been in control for something like 42-43 months. Bush certainly had trouble with the veto pen, but the left has held the purse strings. I remember hearing Bush saying something along the lines of “the voters had spoken” when the dems took control, and that he’d do everything he could to work with them.

As a result, I’m really not sure how much of the voting public even realizes how long democrats have been pushing their agenda through. I think the media is doing everything in its power to make sure we don’t know.

Your post is right on the money. It’s so right on the money, I’m going to re-post it verbatim:

“...Almost nobody ever mentions the fact that the dems have had Congress since 2007. To the MSM and the left, these are still the “Bush years”.

The GOP seems to NEVER hit on this. They go after Obama exclusively. They talk about how bad things have gotten in 18 months. The left then counters that things started going bad before Obama...during the “Bush years”.

Harry and Nancy locked Bush in the trunk, and then drove us into the ditch.

It has become evident to me (and I assume a few others by now) that the Obammunists are waging class warfare against the middle class. Obama’s policies are designed to simultaneously decimate the middle class and transfer their wealth to the poor and to union and government employees, while the very wealthy and the ultra-wealthy are being left untouched. I suppose the wealthy are either complicit or considered untouchable due their power. In any case, it’s evident that Obama has a special loathing for the middle class.

The Obammunists are in the process of destroying all middle-class jobs that are not union or government jobs. These policies have been deliberate, and they have been wildly successful. Here’s a partial list of deliberatly destroyed jobs. Downsizing the military and closing military bases is killing tens of thousands of well-paying civilian jobs. Ordering a “temporary” moratorium on Gulf oil drilling? An immediate 40,000 gulf state jobs lost, with a projected 400,000 total jobs eventually lost. Obamacare? If left as is, this will destroy millions of jobs both in the medical industry and in those companies no longer able to employee as many workers due to the tax increases and insurance mandates of Obamacare. Obama carbon control implemented by fiat by the EPA? More millions of manufacturing jobs sent permanently overseas. Or, how about government ownership of car companies in order to develop “green” Obamamobiles subsidized by middle class tax payers, but affordable only by the upper class, you know, like the Volt? And Obama’s implicit open borders policies? What do you think an unlimited supply of illegal foreign labor willing to work for almost nothing is doing to wage levels for U.S. citizens? The list just goes on and on.

Now, on the other side of the slate, the Obammunists have funneled literally trillions of borrowed dollars into growing the government and union worker class and making vast numbers of the poor permanent wards of the state. When the bill comes due for the borrowed trillions, however, either taxes will be raised to crushing levels on what’s left of the middle class and/or inflation will be deliberately promoted to ease government debt repayment, thereby wiping out the savings of the middle class. Inflation and taxation of course are the classic means for wiping out the middle class, and was perfectly described by Vladimir Lenin, who said “The surest way to crush the bourgeois is between the grindstones of taxes and inflation.”

The Obammunists’ class warfare is intended to result in a nation with a small, elite ultra-wealthy class, with the rest of its citizens being wards of the state, dependent on government handouts of one kind or the other, and therefore for all practical purposes, reduced to subjects of the state.

Thus the United States will be reduced by Obama’s class warfare to the kinds of nations that have always existed in the past and which continue to make up the bulk of nations today: nations with a small despotic ruling elite who rule everyone else with fear and naked power. After just a little over two centuries of being a world power and a shinning beacon of aspiration to the downtrodden of the world, the Obammunists will have wiped out in a single generation what our founding fathers hoped would be a new kind of enduring nation that was dedicated to freedom from tyranny and the pursuit of happiness.

That comes straight from the pulpit of his "minister". Rev. Wright preached about the destruction of the Middle Class as being a goal. All part of this liberation theology. Great post, BTW!

What is amazing is - he campaigned on this, and the idiots still voted for him. He talked about rebuilding America on a NEW foundation. He talked about how the civil rights movement didn’t go far enough (no reparations). He talked about making things equal.

"I suppose the wealthy are either complicit or considered untouchable due their power."

I think that your point about eliminating the middle class is correct. That clears the way for the ultimate Marxist/Alinskiist "inevitability" which is the destruction of the haves by the have nots, and the centering of the power within the nomenklatura who are the 1st among equals. The thing is, the very wealthy did not get that way by being stupid....well mostly. They can see what is coming and can move their wealth to a safe place. Until there are no more safe places.
